Your feedback is always appreciated so that hopefully I can make my future videos the best possible! Thanks and happy studies!
I am like 12 years old trying to learn machine learning, and they said I need to have the knowledge of Calculus and Matrix. I was just like "what the hell is that", after going through a couple of other videos of introduction into Matrix I went on for multiplication and division, then I found your vid. It was really helpful, thanks. P.S. this channel deserves more subs P.S.P.S. english is not my main language so sorry if mistakes were made
Patrick has been helping hundreds of thousands of future scholars, whether they are to be Math Teachers, or Engineers, or Scientists, Patrick has dedicated his life for the betterment of this Earth, and it is working very good he has saved thousands from dropping out a Engineer or Math Major through his simple explanations, and thus in the coming future, i hope more Patricks emerge and help make this planet a one filled with love of knowledge
well, there was that overweight eastern european guy who swam out too far in the ocean a few years ago while i was in mexico. he was bobbing up and down so i gave him my kick-board and i swam back to shore. pretty sure he was in big trouble... so there is that one at least.
I'm in 3rd year studying mathematics as a minor and Patrick continues to help me and noobkosh took the words right out of my mouth; Patrick SAVES me each semester. You are just incredible. Much Love :*
You really should :P I've multiplied matrices a couple times before, but I always keep forgetting how exactly it works. The arrows just made it a tiiiiny little bit simpler right now :P Anyway, your videos are awesome! They seem to be helping me out of the hellhole that is Math :P Too bad I discovered them an hour before a test :(
Bless! My teacher was going over this last week and I did not understand it all, and I didn't really understand the way the book put it either, thank you so much for posting this!!!
Also wanted to keep the thread going, as a messenger from 2019: math is still the same, but great people who do that math on the internet are still helping me out.
Patrick, I hope you understand that you aren't just helping people who are struggling in their math class. I have to multiply matrices for my programming class, and I totally forgot how. This is great. You are clear, consistent, and you start from the beginning to end. Thank you! Love your videos!
When you showed what the dimensions of the matrices were (mxn) then linked them to say n of the first = m of the second : MIND BLOWN! Your visual cleared up so much confusion for me. Thanks!
When you created this I was in second grade enjoying the carefree life. 12 years ahead I have recently failed my sophomore high school exams because of maths and now I'm taking help from you. Thank you Patrick.
A+ Bravo. Im currently i 8th grade taking an Algebra 1 Highschool Credit class and i haven't had any problems in the class...until today. We started with adding and subtracting matrices and it was a piece of cake. Then came this. She used all these lines, and arrows and it confused me so much. So i came home, searched google for help, and this video popped up. I know completely understand Multiplying Matrices. Thank You.
Patrick, although just discovering you tonight while i was hopelessly studying for my exam, i can say that you have indeed made me a lot happier. Thanks a ton and keep it up
I too thought before that matrix multiplication was very difficult, until I realized the same advices Patrick is giving: 1- Always check the dimensions and visualize the resulting matrix dimensions: mxn * nxo = mxo 2- Lines of the first matrix corresponds to the lines of the resulting matrix 3- Columns of the second matrix corresponds to the lines of the resulting matrix If you don't forget those three guidelines, matrix multiplication will be a breeze. Also you can try Octave (opensource)
@EdithGuOropeza you are 100% correct, i misread his problem. a 3 x 1 multiplied by a 1 x 2 will produce a 3x2 matrix. sorry for any confusion and thanks for catching my mistake!
I'm some old guy who could never quite get the hang of matrices. It's remarkable how your simple approach to how it all works is so comprehensible. Sincere thanks for making it accessible to the likes of me.
Annie, one way that matrix multiplication is used is to do geometric transformations in video games and CGI. If you want to rotate, reflect, dilate or translate an object on the screen, this can be done by putting the coordinates of the points in the matrix and then multiplying by an appropriate "transforming" matrix.
no, i was not friends with all my students. and i 100% would not have partied with anyone if i was a high school teacher; that is totally not appropriate. i went out with a bunch of students one semester when i was teaching at a community college. the class hours were from 6pm - 845pm and the average age of the class was probably 35 or so. it was the only time i did anything like that.
I have this problem that im always afraid of math so afraid that sometimes i cant solve a problem just because of fear and i make so maby mistakes just becaude of my fear i hope you give me a small advise knowing that i dont know how to overcome it
I actually did these today in Linear Algebra class at university. They are not difficult, but you explain these very well. You are very clear and precise! Good Job, i like your videos and they help me review the lessons i took 'til now :D
Matrices are super useful man, if you ever want to be involved in programming, engineering, or any kind of science, you need to know this. It's involved in making simulations, writing algorithms, anything to do with programming graphics for computer games, engineering for structural analysis, the list literally goes on. Keep up the study =) It will be worth it
I am studying Algebra II at this time, and your videos help a lot. The college I am in shares your videos with us students weekly. Thank you for all the help.
Saying you saved my sanity would be an understatement. I advise you spend at least 60 seconds reflecting on how helpful you've been to so many people. Keep it up man!
Hey man, I'm in a pre calc class with a teacher who speaks broken English and doesn't slow down to compensate. I'm half way through the semester and I haven't missed a graded question yet! I attribute that to your fantastic videos.
Patrick! THank you sou much for posting these videos... I passed Cuantitative Methods with an A, after having dropped the class 2 times before, I wouldn't have done it without your vids... you're AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@667766667 well, the point of this video is not to give a history of matrices, it is to show how to multiply them. i am sure if you only google ' matrices applications ' you will find a trillion uses. they are super duper useful
i, in fact, no longer do either. i would like to think i was a pretty relaxed teacher. more importantly, hopefully i did a good job explaining concepts. i think the model of: ' teacher stand at the front and lecture, students sit and listen ' is a broken model though. anyways, at the end of the day, i am sure some liked me, and some thought i was a total d-bag. such is life. i did go out after one of my last finals though and partied pretty hard with my students. it was super great.
Thank you so much for this. You won't even BELIEVE how my teacher "taught" us this. He just wrote the matrices down and said "ok this times that plus this and that and etc etc *writes the answer down* ok moving on". I knew I could rely on you Patrick! :)
thankyou for posting this!! it really helps so many people. Now and again we do tend to hate teacher that are really in your face about how much more they know but then again they have been living longer and they do it all the time so hearing it from you makes it easy to understand.
Honestly I don't even pay attention in class anymore, I just watch your videos the night before the test! And I learn more than I would in weeks at school!
Muchas gracias por tu ayuda, a mi tambien me fue mas facil entender 9 minutos de tu video que una semana de clases. Aunque no hablemos el mismo idioma, el lenguaje de las matematicas es universal, eso es genial.
I don't know if you're going to receive this message, but do the videos you have on this channel help with Vector calculus and Linear algebra? Or what general class would these videos help most with?
@patrickJMT I'm not very good at math; I was studying till 6 am with this video; I had exam on QT today and I think I got more than 90 out of 100. Thank U :)
yes, u would get 2x2 matrix. and no, it can not be the same since they are not the same size. this is something important about multiplying matrices: multiplication is NOT commutative (in general)
Man ur a god. I was in class not getting this method because I couldn’t understand my teacher cause he is lazy and wants to go as fast as possible cause igcse are coming soon. He kept on asking me and dint even give me time to calculate I’m my head and the whole class was just laughing at me. You made me get this fast in just 3 minutes I got it. Thanks
