- Today I'm creating another variation of the Dutch pour in my Iris Flower series...I think it's my favorite so far, in colors and composition, even though it's pink!! Who knew?! I am having a blast creating this series...the color possibilities are endless and you can never go wrong being inspired by nature! As always, I list the recipe and colors used below, but first, here is some info on where you can find my art if you are interested in seeing more...

Paints used: Chromacryl Acrylic Essentials in white, Grumbacher Thio Violet, Liquitex Cad Red Light, Soho Cad Yellow Deep, Fine Touch Violet and Arteza Pearl Pink. Each of these were mixed with 1 part paint, 2 parts Floetrol and 1/2 part water plus a bit more water if necessary to thin.
The base was mixed 3 parts paint, 5 parts Floetrol and 2 parts water, when using Artist's Loft Flow Acrylic White. With the Chromacryl, you need to add a considerable amount of water as it is much thicker. (I used approximately 2 parts paint, 5 parts Floetrol and 4 parts water!)

I gave my mother a coffee table book many years ago with photos of the gorgeous natural features from all over the United States and I've always said the He was the best Artist of all time. Incredibly beautiful! I absolutely love it!!! Well, I did the turquoise iris yesterday. I watched your video three times, mixed up the colors very similar and placed the paint where you did. I put it on too small of a canvas😖! then I think my colors had too much water😣. I worked that painting for hours...no joke. I finally came up with something I can live with. It looks like a bad imitation of an O'kief . My husband said it was interesting 🙁but he really doesn't get that it's a flower😯😞😄. I obviously need more practice with the hair dryer. I love this series so I'm going to work at this until I can get a decent iris. Can you tell I'm just a little obsessed 🙄😉. God made everything so...words fail me. Perfection is found in all His creations. I could study one flower my whole life and never capture or understand all the intricacies, dimensions, and color of that flower. How awesome is that! I can't wait to see your next iris!😊💮🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wow, sooo beautiful. I just love these colors. Nature is just so wondrous. I love the lines like the flower has (had a gardening business), & how you said that "every plant has a little green"...Yes, I've seen this a lot even when I plant my own garden, where there may be a little streak of green...just like a banana has when it's not ripe yet. This is so bright & lovely. I noticed that when I tried the blow dryer quite a bit back, it is not as easy as some ppl make it look. I prefer to use other tools, my fingers, using the mouth to blow or different straw types, other interesting gadgets, & even brushes (I need to do more of that too...so many things!), but I know I'm going to come up on something where I need the kind of look the blow dryer can do. Nerve-wracking & exciting all at once. This iris definitely looks "real" to me, cool you used a picture for reference, great idea. I'd want this stunner in my "garden"! Excited to see more of your work 💗💜💛🧡
