      As a wavy-haired person, I actually envy the shine and little to no frizz of straight hair. If you want some loose waves, I'd recommend trying a heatless silk rod for hair. My sister has straight hair and it gives her some waves.

    • @bree_nicole
      @bree_nicole ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Ang36914 Thank you for the suggestion! My hair is pretty long and very fine. I’ve actually tried the silk rod, I always love the way they turn out, but my straight hair doesn’t hold a curl for more than an hour usually, and I try to avoid products with alcohol that ultimately dry it out as much as possible. I’ve found a scarf from dollar tree makes tighter waves, but they last longer. Still, the idea of being able to plop my hair overnight, or have nice braided waves instead of my own crimped and frizzy ends seems so much nicer to me.
      Funny, isn’t it? How we always seem to love the hairstyle and textures we don’t have. 😂

People say mousses and gels dry out hair, but you just have to look for something without silicones, sulfates or any drying alcohols. With these methods, after it’s totally dry, they put a tiny bit of hair oil in their palm, rub into hands and fingers and very lightly scrunch your hair again. It breaks the cast and breaks up the hair so it looks fuller, and less like a baby bird before their feathers pop out! 😂 best way to describe it for us thin hair gals.

      Break the cast! Also try using less. You should be feeling a little bit of crunch but not a full cast as if it was gel. Whatever the case, if you break the cast it should be softer. I'm not the best to explain it, but you basically scrunch your curls again very lightly, there's tutorials on that tho

    • @Slotje1998
      @Slotje1998 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Indeed! You can scrunch out this crunch, but from what I understand you have to wait for your hair to completely dry before you do it. Otherwise you get frizz. You can either air dry or diffuse.

    I need to try this bowl method! In the 90s/2000s, we would dampen our hair and add mousse, flip our hair down and scrunch it and blow dry. But the end result was crunchy. I still do something similar with a wave spray, I just let it air dry.

    I was in love with the Dove brand mousse, it left my hair shiny and soft but it seems to be discontinued. Ever since I have tried other brands and they've all left my hair stiff and have a strong alcohol scent. What brand would you recommend? What did you use in this video?

      They used the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk Mousse! I recognized it my holy grail of mousse’s . It has a very sweet fruity smell and not alcoholic. In my experience it fades away when dry anyways (and I’m very sensitive to fragrances and I find it pleasant and doesn’t give me a headache.)

      Yes, mousses make your hair smell like you’re an alcoholic. I’m happy it’s not just me. I hate the smell. 😅
      Also makes your hair absorb other stinky stuff. If you live in a big smelly city would not recommend.

    I've come across many people doing the curly girl method.. the problem is when I go to their page, i see them recommend many products. What are the basics for beginners? Eg: shampoo, conditioner, curl cream, mousse, and anything else? Also what to begin with.. please explain in steps.. I'm a new subscriber, if u have made a vid about this I'll check it out 💕

    My friend has 4a hair and I think anything 3b and beyond will not work with the bowl method. My friend tried this and i t made her hair all crunchy and frizzy so I don’t recommend. It looks amazing on you though ❤❤

    Hey hun I got a question I got hair down past my waist into butt crack territory it's basically like yours but black. My question is hun I thought using styling stuff like mousse on hair regularly was bad as it dries the hairs? I try to go heat free but I got a diffuser and noticed it went frizzy and found your content. I tried using a hair oil but didn't get good results.
    Could you recommend a mousse thats safe for every day use? Or yours?
    Thank you so much ❤🇦🇺

    I have hair like yours but my big question is for anyone else with fine hair, a decent amt of it, that is wavy to slightly curly, how do you maintain the wave for multiple days? My hair *can* dry like this but the second I brush it, it can only look nice again if I style it with heartless curling tools or heated tools… how do you keep it from tangling?? ❤❤

    • @vroxxzz
      @vroxxzz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You've probably found the answer since you posted this, but you don't brush it when it is dry. That just makes it fizzy.

      Your mistake is that you're brushing it, only brush your hair after you wash it

    Depends on the hair... Mousse makes my hair dull. Takes out the shine i work so hard for. Then it attracts a ton of dust and by the afternoon my hair is dull, flaky, and dirty looking.

    I have a similar wave pattern to hers and I usually only use curl cream and gel, then SOTC with oil. I didn’t use mousse because I thought it was a waste of money, like a lightweight version of gel or something. But this video convinced me otherwise because girl my hair is dry and lifeless like the no mousse side😅
