The Marvel Comics #1 Pay Copy didn't sell at the auction. It's possible it sold after the sale for the minimum bid, which was often 50% of the estimate. Source: I have the prices realized.
Thanks! I started to look at it and I had "unknown" for the venue which makes sense if it traded hands, but not at the auction. The thing I didn't look at is where I got that number in the first place, which can be from any number of sources. Additionally, I'd love to get a full set of the auction RESULTS from Christie's and Sotheby's in the 1990s. I've got a couple of those print outs but not for everything. It would be a great resource.
Right? It's not even particularly featured in the catalog. There's a Herriman page on the cover which has a whole page to itself in the catalog and this is just... another random piece of Silver Age art. Crazy.
