Guys, keep fucking doing this. I love catching up with these at a 2-3 at a time clip and it inspires me to quite literally buy more whisk(e)y which is a good thing. Very entertaining, informative, and quite simply...cool.
This is the first bottle of whiskey I ever bought. I had drunk other whiskey before, but was never a huge fan of any of them, mostly low end stuff. Then while studying in Ireland I bough this to drink on St. Patrick's day and absolutely loved it. Still my favorite whiskey, partly for the nostalgia but mostly because it is simply delicious, although I did by Monkey Shoulder at your recommendation and it gives Red Head a good run for its money. Glad you guys liked it.

Sorry to go back in time so far for a video comment, but I just thought of this while watching this episode. Daniel, I'm sure you are at least somewhat familiar with all the different exotic woods guitars can come in. A lot of different woods are prized aesthetically for their grain, but also the tone they impart on the guitar. In the Whiskey world, why do we only seem to find Oak casks? With the wide variety of wood options out there, is there a particular reason Oak is the most prominent? Have people experimented in the past with different types of wood and come up with poor results?
You say that the sherry finish is the only difference between this and other Writers' Tears. Writers' Tears Red Head is a Single Malt, the rest are a blend of Pot / Malt
I have a slightly Harsh Highland Malt from Aldi.. I add a tiny drop of Old Port before a splash of water and it transforms it into a smooth complex rich drink that I would pay twice as much money for...
Just to clarify guys this is not the same 'base' whiskey as Writer's Tears Copper Pot - The Copper Pot is a blend of single malt and pot still whiskey from Bushmills and Midleton Respectively. The Red Head is exclusively a single malt sourced from Bushmills, hence the reason for the big difference in aroma and taste outside of the different maturation style.

You guys should revisit this. The new bottling is even better than I remember this to be. Richer. More mature.

In Scotland (and likely Ireland) Red Head is another term for ginger haired. Closer to orange than actual red. :-)
