As others have said. Wear a respirator or mask when sanding/cutting/scarifying any unknown paint or material. Many old paints are lead based but moderner paints can be Isocyanate ( containing Cyanide ) ( usually the two part paints ). When you paint larger areas with a Brush you can use a roller ( lightly loaded with paint ) at the final coat just to get rid of any brush strokes or high/low ridges of paint from the brush…it just changes the texture !. When doing window frames use a angle head brush to avoid the glass,it’s easier to use masking tape or use a Straight Edge as you go down with the brush ( or across ). Looking absolutely fantastic work and it makes the area look so much Bigger and a lot Brighter. Loving the videos ❤
I love the new space it's like an outdoor deck, for chillin', grillin' cocktails 🍸 on the deck and star gazing and sun sets and sun rises 😊❤️ !! Awesome space guys !!!
Hi Adam, Lauren & Shanti, I've been binge wwtching your vlogs recently and only discovered Ben & Emily's blogs a week ago not knowing you are friends. This makes following you all more exciting. Love all of your vlogs. Thank you
Enjoyable video. The color is wonderful….. The verbal give and take between the two of you shows your honesty and respect for each other, it is a great example of the “quality” of a good relationship. ❤ Looking forward to more. Excellent!
picked a great color, can't wait to see some plants in there hanging out! btw try cutting an extra 2 or 3 sec on your edits, pretty good but you want them to be a bit faster
What a spectacular difference! The light colour is so much better than dark because it just makes it look so much bigger, cleaner, brighter and more like a real room and conservatory. Well done and excellent care taken with all the work and painting too. Very enjoyable video - thanks.
I really enjoyed watching that video guys and very well done for sorting out that magnificent space. Looking forward to what it’s going to finally look like ❤
Comical painting such a large area with a tiny brush. Then it turns out it’s all the same colour. 4” brush done in 40 minutes. Turned out nice. Take a welding course to save on repairs in the future.
That sort of paint looks for glossy and complete on these boats, looks great. How come some boats look full of you know what I mean? Do you just need the right kind of paint?
Concentration face is tongue sticking out. I thought the buttery color the camera shows worked with the boat colors and gave a bright airy feel. Looking forward to the finished product.
Using both the scabbier and the power tools for sanding without the correct respiratory protection is not a good idea. The dust you are breathing could be toxic. Think of your personal safety and health when you are doing these jobs. Other than that, nice job.
Thank you, I had a proper mask and goggles on at first but every time I breathed it fogged up the goggles which made it extra dangerous with the tool as I couldn't see, so i opted to tie my scarf tightly around me - but yes definitely thank you for the concern :) x
Is it possible to transport a narrow boat from United Kingdom to mainland Europe once you've explored all of United Kingdom? If so, what would that expense be?
Hey my favorite canal people. Sorry I haven't been commenting but I've been on tour And I just had a moment of reprieve so I decided that I would comment here and say I hope you all are doing well.
The reason that the colour of the paint looks wrong on camera, is the "White Balance" is wrong. It is quite easy to correct providing you have "controls" on that particular camera.
Adam, please look into the camera's lens when talking-to-camera. Stop looking at yourself up in the corner of the what's recording window. Lauren looks into the lens; not at herself. Eye contact is key to relating to viewers. That said, the open bow space looks fabulous!
Well, I was a lot dissapointed... You didnt "build" anything...You prepped and painted. Looks good....But I was expecting like, Sawzalls, and circular saws, jigsaws, measuring tapes, and maybe some hammering and nails and screws, rhrow in some plexiglass, caulking, etc...but hey...good job on the salad 😉🤣
You guys did a fantastic job! Just be careful to wear some kind of mask or respirator when sanding or using other similar power tools! Don’t want to breathe in all those nasty toxic particles!😷
Thank you, I had a proper mask and goggles on at first but every time I breathed it fogged up the goggles which made it extra dangerous with the tool as I couldn't see, so i opted to tie my scarf tightly around me - but yes definitely thank you for the concern :) x
Great job but h&s was v concerned no masks! Good knows what’s in that paint. Understand the advertisement, but the provenance of HF ingredients leaves a lot to be desired in our experience !
Although I enjoy your vlogs, I don't enjoy watching adverts and when you do the advertising even your patreons can't avoid them, I hope this isn't going to be a regular occurrence.
Hey Tom, we actually don't have a Patreon page so that doesn't' apply to us. We are making content creation our main focus now as filming, editing, and planning everything takes many hours a day, therefore doing the adverts is a way to fund us being able to make these videos for people. So they likely will become a more regular occurrence yes - maybe best to unsubscribe if they may bother you - take care :)
Lauren you are so gorgeous! I love your style and the colours of your clothes with your hair 🤌
that is so kind, thank you so much!
You know what, that colour via the camera goes so well ...excellent choice 👌
I'm glad you got that hole into the boat welded...

Happy colour x
Thank you for you Ben and Emily and May for keeping me for going in this world if it weren't for you I'll be in the bottom of the cut
Great hoover action banishing the dust...!
Enjoyable video.
The color is wonderful…..
The verbal give and take between the two of you shows your honesty and respect for each other, it is a great example of the “quality” of a good relationship. ❤
Looking forward to more.
Excellent!
Looks lovely and bright
The square rusty patches were probably old gas lockers. The condensation around the bottles would have created a damp area for rust to form.
Yes we now think they were gas lockers also!
Gosh that colour makes it look wonderful. You’ll need to do all around the rest now!
When we regain the energy 🤣
My boyfriend and I use chef’s plates and they’re amazing. ❤️
Great job done, lovely colour. ❤
Thanks Sheila!
Always do your research on old paint and what it might contain. Lead was used not only for red lead paint and inhaling it can be deadly
Fantastic result. A paint roller would fasten the process though. No brush strokes.
Your wife is very funny and sweet, love her vibes. 😂❤️
Good on you girl. It looks amazing.
That color looks good!
Does the Hello Fresh box get delivered to your narrowboat on the canal or do you have to get it delivered to a building/house somewhere?
We have done both, depending where we are moored sometimes the towpath sometimes a local place :)
picked a great color, can't wait to see some plants in there hanging out! btw try cutting an extra 2 or 3 sec on your edits, pretty good but you want them to be a bit faster

Thank you so much for your kind words! We are so happy with how it turned out and so glad you liked the video :)
Love the colour 😍
Love the colour on camera, wish I could see the colour it really is 😂
Come visit us sometime!
@@thefloatinghome17 sounds like a plan ❤️
I really enjoyed watching that video guys and very well done for sorting out that magnificent space. Looking forward to what it’s going to finally look like ❤
Thanks Matthew, so are we 🤣
I bet you had green bogies for days after that sanding 😛
Looks a lot brighter than the green. You didn’t buy stirring sticks did you, how posh haha 😂
haha no they were left over from sold old paint we bought and they come with as a freebie!
Very nice!
Very nice work. Well done.
The lighter colour really does make a big difference.
Feels so much bigger!
You two continue to amaze me, can’t wait to see the finished work ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!xx
Looks fantastic, you have lovely taste :)
Thank you! x

Lauren is keen to do a welding course!
@@thefloatinghome17 it will pay off in the future and save a fortune.
Your new room is looking so good!! I can hardly wait to see what you do next!

You can use the brushes long if you treat them well.
Love the macrame. Do you make and sell it to fellow Boaters?
Yes :) you can find my macrame page on Instagram and message me there @thehippiescraftbox
looks fab! great colour guys x
Concentration face is tongue sticking out. I thought the buttery color the camera shows worked with the boat colors and gave a bright airy feel. Looking forward to the finished product.
A pretty vinyl floor mat or outdoor rug would be perfect in the new “conservatory”.
Missing the vlogs😀
Guys u need to close off to stop dust wen sanding.😮
Did you do a second coat of the cream/yellow colour?
You guys rock.. this is all good..

Plus no ear protection

Yes indeed! Old lead paint, asbestos, etc, etc.
I think those two patches in the bow would have been gas lockers in a previous life,
Is it possible to transport a narrow boat from United Kingdom to mainland Europe once you've explored all of United Kingdom? If so, what would that expense be?
I'm just curious how you guys do this financially. Do you work from the boat ? Looks a brilliant way of life
Maybe we should make a video about this? But we both have a few streams of income via being self employed and working online/for ourselves
@@thefloatinghome17 look forward to it

be careful when grinding near glass...the sparks will melt into the glass and make a right mess. great job though.👍
ye see it so often with car welding repairs you end up with rusty glass !
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
Don't you wish we had narrowboats ?
👍
"One of us turning our bowel into a new room." I sprayed my coffee over the laptop. Then had to listen with the sound ON and the subtitles OFF.
