  • How do we “make Brexit work”? Or is this not feasible without major shifts of political strategy? Meanwhile, what does “Global Britain” mean and how does the UK adapt its approach to a potentially more protectionist world?
Chair: Catherine Barnard, University of Cambridge and UKICE
    Panel:
Madeleine Sumption, University of Oxford [presentation]
Thomas Sampson, London School of Economics [presentation]

Who'd thought that barriers to trade would adversely impact trade?

27:02 The TCA review is about the implementation, whether there are still difficulties and how they can be overcome, but it is not about renegotiating.

So, in a five second summarization: “Brexit effed us. Goodnight.”

46:22 'Norway style arrangement' for the service and FS industry.
Sooooo, these sectors would be 'hesitant' to accept those?
Good. Because the EU won't offer any such unicorn deals to the UK. Oh, did I mention this lady in the black shirt is beyond delusional? Someone might lecture her on economics, first semester: 'you don't voluntarily hand your profits to a competitor'.
In what lottery did this little lady ..... bless her heart and cotton socks .... win her uni degree?

She's actually really intelligent, but given she was working for the UK government for the past three years she was paid to have her head in the clouds. Must have stuck.
As an International Relations student I don't understand why they think we in the EU would undermine our own power by undermining the single market/customs union for them. I guess this is the bargaining phase of their grieving process before they come to terms with the fact that membership benefits are for members.
I am waiting for the day that they will understand that for third countries there are 27 countries who do as they please when they have the leeway, like in the case of non-harmonised goods or immigration. There is no single market for third countries or freedom of movement/EU-wide visa for third country nationals.

@@samhartford8677 Politely disagree about her intelligence. She sports zero intelligence in this conversation, and in addition trots out the old rubbish 'Ukraine war' and 'security'.
Security and defence is NATO, and the EU wont destroy her SM model because little brexitannia threatens to stop her NATO duties. May tried that. Frost tried that. Both times their heads met a concrete wall, the EU shot it down within mere hours.
