Was deciding between this & the note 10.1 & went for the note.
Had a play with the 7 in the shop, it was cool but screen too small imho. Note is faster with ics4.04 so its gonna be insane fast with jb on board.
The 7 IS really good value for a mid range tablet.

Cool and informative review. I have the Nexus 7 16 GB and haven't look back. Also, I have the OTG cable to connect to a USB using Nexus Media Importer. But, I also bought the Gauntlet Node with a 120g solid state hard drive to stream video, music,etc to the tablet and both are awesome. Anyway, thanks for the review and info.

Hi Erica (sorry if i spelled wrong)...thank so much for in-depth info on Nexus 7 tablet...I was hesitating of getting this but lack of Flash and no extension slot however after looking at ur vid with other option fulfill those lacking..Question 4 u about 'SD to Micro USB Transfer Cable'..the link u have is it compatible with Nexus 7? and those links for flash is it still compatible with 4.2 jelly bean? just wanted to double check before i buy it...thanks again

not sure if anyone has ever mentioned this or not, but i JUST bought a nexus 7 a few days ago and out of the box it does support landscape mode if you have the auto rotate enabled on the left drag down menu

Did they fix the screen problem for the nexus 7. Its not the ghosting one but the one where part of the screen couldn't read your touch input for very long.

Hey, I wanted to know if you've found any hardware issues with your device.
I'm in UK and have been using my device pretty actively for about a month. Recently I noticed some screen lifting, and minor back light bleeding and ripples generated around the edge on pressing.. Not to mention a slight annoying flicker when auto-brightness is on and battery on the lower side.. Ruins the otherwise brilliant experience on the device, in my opinion.. What do you think?

I think it might be her camera. I have one and the screen isn't that blue. She might also have it on low/auto brightness which sort of gives it a blue-ish hue, but when it's on med or high brightness that goes away.
Well the composition is aluminosilicate glass...put through a potassium ion bath to exchange the smaller sodium ions with larger potassium ions, creating a layer of compressive stress...then fluorosilane gives it scratch resistent properties ..why is it different than gorilla glass? It is either aluminosilicate or soda lime base...and flurosilane is what Corning uses for scratch and oil resistence... so its got to also be gorilla glass. ..now I'm curious. Everyone says gorilla glass.

Hey Erica, excellent video thanks. I wanted to make a suggestion to you about fixing the rotation issue. Search for an app called "Ultimate Rotation Control". There is a free trial. But after 5 minutes, I spent the $2 on the unlocked version. Lol. Definitely check it out. Thanks (I'm not affiliated with the Dev BTW... I just realized how that sounds)

One solution for the FAT problem would be to split video files into multiple files of 4GB size. I'm sure you could do that with programs like Handbreak without recompressing audio/video (it'd be fast too).

The screen is 720one so regardless of density a 1080p video would look the same as a 720p video as it would have to scale down to fit the screen.

i was buying an ipad... then i saw Her, and the review, "of course", now i'm getting a nexus 7! :P
you can download several different apps that allow you this functionality, however it is not as good as a native windows device (duh) but I have used mine to type up several papers and powerpoints.. Officesuite pro is what i use. if you are looking for a tablet for functionality, i would recommend an atom windows 8 tablet (you can get a good one for around $500 if that works for you) then you have full word, powerpoint and excel etc.
