I was a bit skeptical of how well this team would work, what with not having a hard check for Giratina...but after going 12-3 and beating double-fairy-backlines, I am loving it! Double Iron Bash Melmetal is so good and Flygon landing Earth Powers on Heatran has been super fun. Thanks for the video!
Didnt think i would like this cup as i generally only play great league and lower as i dont have many pokemon built up. But i was able to get my melmetal, tapu fini and a haxorus for this cup. And have enjoyed the 5 sets ive played so far.
I've learned that no matter what team I use the opponent ALWAYS has counters specific to my team. I don't know what's up but in the last season I was winning at least 4/5 every single time, regardless of the cup. This season I barely made it to level 20 and I barely win 2/5. It feels a lot like back when I was playing MTG: Arena, if you won too much the algorithm forced you to play decks that counter your deck so everyone stays around a 40% win rate. Or maybe I just suck. IDK.
I’m the first battle in this vid! This was my first battle in the fantasy cup. When I saw I was up against you, I remember thinking “yooo I might be in the vid!”, but also “damn I should have done some research on this cup first”. 😂 Anyway, love your videos. GG
Love this team! Went a quick 8 in 10, BOOMS everywhere. Never really used my Flygon jn the great league, but definitely worth spending the 250k and elite charge for this cup
kinda sad that you cant get earth power on flygons for another week unless you wanna invest in the elite tm (when its only 7 days away 💀) feels like this happens somewhat often, a decent pick for a cup gets its legacy move in an event etc basically when the cup is over. same goes for metagross.
Honestly IMO that's tough - I don't think there's anything quite like it in the meta right now. Registeel is ranked so highly this cup that it's probably the best replacement on-paper, and it does have similar charge move coverage, but it's the opposite of Melmetal in terms of pacing. Rather than being super spammy, its charge moves take tons of energy (though they do hit harder), so it'll change the way the team plays a fair bit IMO. Something like Magnezone or A-Slash is pretty spammy but they can't claim the same coverage. Magnezone can't hit opposing Steels for supereffective damage, and A-Slash lacks Steel type attacks to hit opposing Fairies with. Lucario carries that fighting type coverage but it also lacks Steel attacks and the Fighting type means it won't resist Fairy damage like Melmetal does. With two dragons in the back, losing some of your edge to fairy might not be the best. Whatever you pick, I think you definitely wanna try to make sure it can threaten A-Slash while also countering most Fairies.
Tapu Fini It's more of an ABC team when you swap in Fini, but it still plays extremely well. Tina and Fini also both beat Escav, which gives Melmetal a lot of trouble on the lead - with two better answers in the back, not only can you swap out, but you also outpace Escav to charge moves so you can Superpower to either chunk or pull shield and bail. It's also nice because everyone has Melmetal access, and both Fini and Tina are open UL staples. They *are* legendaries so if you don't have one to build you might be SOL but as long as you have one, Tina and Fini are certainly worth the investment. It's not like some other cup-specific picks you'll never use again outside of this cup.
Landing an unshielded Shadow Force is one of the coolest things ever. Just sayin. Landed 3 yesterday.
I think ive seen your comments on every pokemon vid ive watched 😂
@@chrisalves11 Usually just Zyonik but this week a few others too. Also had my battles featured in a Reis video a while back.
This meta looks really fun and I do not have any pokemon built for it lmao.
Flygon was my first shiny ever in the Main games. Of course i have to use it and glad it gets a showcase here
I knew one of these day I would build a similar team that will be showcased here. Thank you for all your teachings. Flygon / Melmetal such a good core

Charm fairy user is destroying this team.

Hey Z!
I have a question. I have a Flygon I’ve been holding on to for UL. Is it worth investing in in general?
Watch out for those hydro cannons tho☺️
What do you do when you run up against a charm slyveon or granbull? They can wipeout 2/3 of your team with no charge moves
Using excadrill, dragonite and shadow aggron. Been doing great with those 👌
I’m the first battle in this vid!

Thanks, I didn't know about the buff/debuff cancelation.
question: what's the advantages of using flygon over garchomp?
hmm what if someone ran powder snow drill run and gyro ball to hit all 3 allowed types for super effective😯
Love this team! Went a quick 8 in 10, BOOMS everywhere. Never really used my Flygon jn the great league, but definitely worth spending the 250k and elite charge for this cup
I don’t have many meta Pokémon but I’m Running Aggron, Togekiss, Tapu Fini and it’s somehow doing well.
I ran a pretty random team and did fairly well yesterday, would I be able to send some sets if I record them?
yo how did u read my mind i was literally thinking about building this team an hour ago, thx for the showcase gonna invest in this team now 😂
What if I'm using Origin form instead?
Someone explain to me how an Alolan sandslash wins CMP tie against a Heatran?
Dumb question…. Why can’t you use coballion? It’s a steel type. The game just didn’t even give it to me as an option
i am using ap sf on my giratina on the lead and its a lot of fun pls try my man...
Registell in lead
Haxarous dragon accent +earthquake
Tapu fini
Try this team as well did 9,1 with this team
Clefable, lucario ( with shadow ball), and tapu fini
Yay!!! Flygon! My all time favorite
Try haxorus, excadrill and escavalier in the back in this fantasy cup. Good team

I see your rank 1 melmetal zyonik, respect. I’m part of the gang too. Named him Schmitty Van W
Seeing loads of Haxorus leads today.
No notification 🤔
I'm running Tapu Fini, Giratina and Escavalier
for those who wanna use melmetal, and you didnt get the double iron bash research, you can elite tm it on a previous one u have. been doing me WONDERS
Hi zyonik post master league sets,i only get excited to play go battle when ML is available
What is is good alternative for Melmetal?

Thanks for this!
I like Flygon... wish I had a shadow version
Melmetal 😮definitely adding him
I've squeezed out wins some way I don't know. Really dislike this cup 😂 Running Shadow A-Slash, Sylveon, Dragalge.
Meh im gona just do master league. The meta is almost completely different from the main UL. Its a lot to invest in a side cup
Alternative of Flygon in this team!?
Dragonite
Tapu Fini

Unless you are wasting stardust on an XL ferrothorn, Tapu Fini has no hard counters in this meta. Truly an unbalanced mess.
big Sub for U !
Really well playing but this Meta I'm going to have to skip this. The 2500 brake is too pricey for me and these types of I don't have more than one.
Please make some shorts
Neaounnnnnnnnn😂
I hate this cup. I have nothing meta built for it and master league is too expensive :/
Now I have to try my Melmetal!
My team will F this team up
Here’s me with my Empoloeon Salamance Xerneas team. Fair to say I’m struggling😂
Try having some self respect and drop empoleon
@@casparfraser2336 bro don’t be like that. He’s been clutch for me recently
This cup is atrocious
Meta…so boring
Excadrill is a beast in this with surpluff
