I remember being young and when my parents had friends over for a drink, my pops would play all kinds of reggae and this would be sprinkled in ....made me feel so happy...good times...I'm sure my parents would say the same 🙌🏽🙌🏽
This is one of, if not possibly my favourite song of all time. And i’m a fan of Foo Fighters, Rolling Stones, Oasis, Dire Straits and so on. But this song would make a dead person get up and move.
I'm born the same year and there is only few lyrics i can relate to more than these words of her.makes me proud being born at this year this tune came out
First you take my heart In the palm of your hand And you squeeze it tight Then you take my mind And play with it all night You take my pride And you throw it up against the wall You take me in your arms, baby And bounce me like a rubber ball I'm not complaining What you're doing, you see 'Cause this hurting feeling Is oh so good to me Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) It hurts so good.. You take my name And you scandalise it in the street Oh anything you wanna do Say it's alright by me You turned right around And make sweet love to me Ooh wee baby, it sure felt good to me 'Cause baby, these things you're doing to me It hurts so bad But it's worth all the misery Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) It hurts so good.. Ooh baby, ooh, yeah, ooh, ooh Ooh boy, please don't ever Take the heat off me 'Cause it would hurt even more Say if you ever, ever leave Even though sometimes It's hard for me to bear Oh, I'll make myself hold on 'Cause if it kills me, I don't care 'Cause baby, I don't want you to ever quit It ain't no good till it hurts a little bit Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) Don't you know that it (hurts so good..) It hurts so good..

@@jahsnoke8043 Yes...it was so sudden..up to 2 weeks ago he was well and chatting about all he was planning...even though he was 85, it's just hard to believe...like my father who died a week before who was 106...it was like he would always be there
@@stonyhillpo Aww....Sorry about your dad, he lived to a incredible age of 106, that's absolutely fantastic to have all those experiences of life.. if my parents both passed away, but had they lived they'd be in their mid 80's like Lee Perry, so he had a long life too. I hope your well and still singing with that beautiful voice, if you're touring I'd love to know your concert dates ... my favourite tunes are Love My Life and Nice&Easy x x
@@jahsnoke8043 So sorry about your folk...much love to you. Yes, my father lived a long life and looked like someone in their 80s! Perry was aged too but so is this life...Music alone goes on forever. No more shows for me until between May-Sept 2022 in UK
[20 December 2022] From the beautiful Susan Cadogan - who was (as far as I can tell, although I may be wrong) Lee "Scratch" Perry's only female protege; his very own Trilby, you know what I mean? - a song so sweetly supplicative that it borders on masochistic, a sweet Receiver's song unto a Sender (and if you don't know what I'm getting at with all this talk about Senders and Receivers, you really ought to brush up your Burroughs [William S., I mean; *not* Edgar Rice]). I was rather disappointed to find out that "Hurt So Good" was originally written by somebody named Philip Michael, and that it was originally a hit for U.S R&B singer Millie Jackson. When I first heard Susan Cadogan singing this, I truly hoped that Lee Perry had written this song specifically for Cadogan, his own Trilby; that it was Perry writing a glorification of himself for a woman to sing. Lines like "First you take my heart/In the palm of your hand/And you squeeze it tight;/Then you take my mind/And play with it all night..." sound like they could very well describe someone like Perry, that great mad trickster, who famously boasted of having a messed-up mind and who loved to mess around with other peoples' minds too.

For those who might remember this from an earlier period it was first released in 1970, but didn’t become a hit until 1975.
Love this song💖just a shame artist today don't make music like this...
It wasn't the artist that made the lovely music it was the producers such as lee perry
I wish music was this good now...
It's there, you just have to look for it, plenty of great modern bands playing the classic soul and reggae styles

Take the heat off me
'Cause it would hurt even more
Say if you ever, ever leave
Even though sometimes
It's hard for me to bear
Oh, I'll make myself hold on
'Cause if it kills me, I don't care
'Cause baby, I don't want you to ever quit
It ain't no good till it hurts a little bit
Don't you know that it (hurts so good..)
