This is architect Yuzuru Murakami's own residence. Although the building area is small (53.56m2), the entrance on the first floor doubles as a store for his wife's baked goods store, and there is also a dedicated kitchen. The open-plan living space is semi-basement in consideration of the impact from the adjacent parking lot. Even if the parking lot is converted into a building in the future, the residents can continue to live in peace. The hip wall of the semi-basement, which also serves as the foundation, is bare concrete. The upper part of the structure is made of softwoods, mainly Japanese cedar and cypress, and the walls are plastered with a mixture of river sand and soot. The second floor uses traditional plan and partitions with shoji screens, creating a flexible structure that can be adapted to changing lifestyles. Please enjoy the charm of materials and spaces that transcend trends by architects in their 30s.

기교나 편리함만을 추구하는 사치는 버리고 실용적이고 담백한 점포 겸 집이네요~.

Nice home but wouldn't want to be in it during an earthquake!!

Thanks for your comment. In Japan, where earthquakes are common, strict earthquake resistance standards have been established.
