Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker.
I'm just... sad that we never got the sequels to this fantastic movie, I really think Fincher would have given us one of the best trilogies ever made...
It took time 'cause they were trying to cast the same actors. The trailer for the sequel is already available, but different actors :(
They are already making the sequel. New actors, new director, and it's coming before the end of the year!!
@@scottpilgrim920 which makes it even sadder
Epic: Music Videos IKR? Sony is so dumb.
There is a sequel but all new cast
This is the single most badass title sequence I've ever seen.
+Mia Zeklos IKR!! I remember watching that at the cinema and it was AMAZING! It sets the tone and everything about this title sequence is perfect. I don't understand why this movie didn't get that popular, it was one of the best out there imo.
Chetan Biswas ??
@@chetanbiswas9076 get help kid
Facts.
That and Fight Club
i like how the title sequence basically plays out the entire movie. drowning, fire, dragon, victims, sex, tech, spying, violence... it's the entire movie in 2 and a half minutes.
+amahler03 Actually it's meant to be all three books stories' in one. I believe someone involved said he wanted to portray all three in case the sequels didn't get made.
That's what I figured. I loved the original movie versions and books.
And also Lisbeth's rape
Woah coming back after 4 years to see a comment I forgot I made hits different
Get back here@@johnshepard7133
Daniel Craig: "I didn't want this to come off like another Bond film."
David Fincher: "Hold my opening credits."
Tim Miller deserves another chance
@@Zombiesnyder13wait what happened to Tim Miller?
@r3z00m he did Terminator: Dark Fate
Everybody blame him for the movie's failure
But it was actually James Cameron's
@@Zombiesnyder13 ugh that really sucks he’s taking all the bullets for it!
Possibly the best opening title sequence ever. What I like most is that it shows Lisbeth's childhood and how that turbulent childhood played out and how she became the person she is.
Visuals by Tim Miller and sound by Trent Reznor. A masterpiece.
Yamin Thein The Terminator no doubt is the best opening sequence ever. Watch it, if you didnt
Neva Herdamee me too
David Fincher's opening sequences are the best ever.
Well Said & Agree...... 👍👍👍
Trent Reznor AND Atticus Ross, his creative partner.
one of the reasons i will be a david fincher fan for years to come
matt11708 this was actually made by the director of the upcoming Deadpool movie,Tim Miller.
+andrew makatsaria it's fincher...
i meant the opening sequence dumbass not the whole movie.
+andrew makatsaria But still, Fincher had the final say. If he thought it was shit, he would've cut that out of the movie.
i ain't denying that .
Seriously one of the most bad ass, artistic, visual film openings ever created! :D
Facts...
Rooney Mara defined the role for the English language as Noomi Rapace defined it for the Swedish language. Both put their own stamp on the iconic character.
Probably the best non-Bond title sequence.
+theking24 I was thinking this looked a lot like a Bond intro
yep
Speaking of Craig ;)
try Metal gear solid 3 "snake eater" opening. It is not this quality but it is worth being seen.
+theking24 this is better than Bond title squences
fincher is the master of gothic/dark film making
Mickey Cohen the master is Tim Burton, e.g., demonstrated by his movie "Sleepy Hollow".
@@gandolin66 Sorry but disagree with you... I'd love Burton... BUT he have a little "je ne sais quoi" of burlesque, to be really see as totaly dark gothic.
@@Roi-Shito-1st no problem, mate
@@Roi-Shito-1st Alex Proyas with The Crow then ?
@@angelintheskywithdemons Yes good one !!! Really !
Sucks this movie didn't make as much money. I wanna see their take on The Girl who Played With Fire, which is the best book in the series! Rooney Mara's portrayal of Lisbeth is great too!
They will do them because Rooney Mara says she wants to do them
futurefilmmaker 39480 That... means absolutely nothing :/ It's in the hands of the studio (who owns the rights) to decide whether to make it or not. The movie didn't make much money, and that's ultimately what studios look at when making movies. Why would you greenlight a sequel to a movie that didn't do great? You can put your dollars towards something with a higher chance of a better cost to return ratio.
Eidlones Just because this movie didn't do that high at the box office, that still means you can still do it. There is going to be a sequel happening with Fede Alvarez as director and we'll see if these two awesome leads will return.
After the lackluster opening weekend I think it actually did pretty well by the end because of amazing legs... it probably also did great on home video
I can't deny that during my experience of watching this film, this opening is the most badass I have ever seen. I even played it over and over again and I got goosebumps and was amazed to see it.
Tim miller ( who directed deadpool ) did the opening sequence
Miller knows his CGI
He also co-founded Blur Studios
sparky10142 hes wicked talented
He also did that amazing DCUO opening
No it didn't. It looked like a movie. You are just making things up to insult Deadpool, which many people enjoy. So you didn't like it. What you wrote does not apply as a reason for that.
It's like a James Bond opening that went through the portal in Event Horizon.
Yohanan Ben-Gad funny coincidence, given that Daniel Craig is in this movie
That has to be one of the best analogies I've ever read in the entire internet. Kudos.
should have been a bond opening!
I waz just thinking the same thing
God its awesome. Just savage
I never get tired seeing this opening. This is only possible because his knowhow for doing some of the most iconic videos from the history of music: Vogue, Express Yourself, Freedom ´90, Love´s Strong, Suit &Tie. The man is a genius! We cannot expect more than a astonishing work from him.
I watch it a couple times a year...and get chills every time.
The opening titles are actually the complete story of Lisbeth. And it's heart-breaking to know the ending of the film and to see how these titles end (with her returning again to the darkness, while male hands are dragging her back there).
I love that bit of foreshadowing towards the end of the hands clawing their way out from the ground.
This is what happens when you mix Tim Miller for visuals and Trent Reznor for sound.
You get a masterpiece of an art form.
YOU STILL LOOKING AT IT,,,,COOOL
I MEAN ... AFTER 4 YEARS .. I THAUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
YOU .HAVE SUCH GOOD TASTE
Every song composed by Trent Reznor is a masterpiece.
You're forgetting Karen O.
Props to the team who put this whole thing together! Can't stop watching this!
One of the best intros I've seen. It's just so captivating and moving. Always touches me
I saw the movie in the theater with a good friend. Watching the opening titles with that screen and sound made us both squeal uncontrollably and high-five. We were thrilled from the moment it started.
I wish he did the other 2 as well. :/
He is supposed to ;)
Everyone does. :(
Thales Nunes Moreira
You could always watch the original ones.
VirgateSpy Skyfall killed it. Craig wants money.
Dan Slash I did, and they were great, but I also like David Fincher's style.
David Fincher is one of the directors that needs to be cherished the way Spielberg is. He is part of that dying breed of cinematic art. Most directors these days are rinse and repeat for a paycheck.
+Redisnotblue Blur Studio is really special. They've collaborated with Fincher a few times. They did the space sequences in Avatar. They did the CG cut scenes in the remastered version of Halo 2.
I would reply to you if your goddamn grammar wasn't so atrocious.
+Redisnotblue I feel the same way about him. However there are other young directors who are really unique, really pushing cinema. Cary Joji Fugunaka, Denis Villenueve, Neill Blomkamp, Darren Aronofsky, Nicholas Winding Refn to name a few. They're not young guys but they're the directors making the Taxi Driver's and Raging Bull's of today.
He's one of my top 3
We should get married then. We have something slightly in common, I'm so alone and you seem possibly female.
The saddest part is...how this opening foreshadows the entire trilogy...this was suposed to continue
You know you done good when Trent Reznor is involved.
Most underrated Fincher movie after Zodiac.
Edit: No, this is his most underrated movie.
book still way better
Zodiac is underrated???
Panic Room and Alien 3 are underrated.
Man I love Zodiac...such a brilliant film
Fair point. Gone girl might be his most underrated movie. But social network is unquestionably his best
M: 007, what took you so long?
Bond: Oh, I was tied up in a serial killer's basement.
M: I didn't ask for your sexual escapades 007.
@@newbiechu7024 no really, General Orlov was the guy’s lawyer and everything
13 years later and Fincher's GWTDT still has one of the most SICK opening titles ever.
This opening title sequence alone is the most David Fincher thing I’ve ever seen
I knew the moment this scene started that I was going to enjoy the entire film. Normally I am massively afraid of overly gratuitous films (I'm still shaking from the throat slashing scene in "Lawless") but this was such an artistic film about some very dark subjects that I was enthralled.
hello yous seven is the better film
Was literally sitting in the front row in the cinema and had my jaw on the floor throughout this clip...quite an experience...mindblowing if watched in a cinema with the sound amped!
I saw it in the cinema too, mind was fully blown,
Thor ragnarok? Nah,this is the best use of The immigrant song!
Aoght innit
Clearly some people haven’t seen Shrek the third
Aldo Talamantes Nah this movie did it the best.
Both are pretty awesome to me tbh
It's not even the same version.
A very high-quality detective thriller, quite tough! Now this is very rarely filmed. The atmosphere is really addictive and immerses you in viewing.
The best 007 opening title sequence ever.
The guy that did this sequence for David Fincher is the director of DEADPOOL MOVIE
Fincher has incredible credit sequences
So after sitting down and actually watching this film, I am upset that Fincher wasn't able to make the two other films to make this a trilogy. tbh this is pure gold from Fincher and sadly we won't be able to see the full vision of the trilogy.
An utterly chilling opening sequence - on all levels. Reznor/Ross plus Karen O - what a firecracker of a combo. And a fantastic movie - shame that Fincher couldn't do the rest.
I loved this movie so much. I can't stop coming back to the title sequence.
I remember watching this on the big screen, and this opening montage just enthralled n captured me. From that point on, I knew this was going to be another Fincher classic. The dark sadistic nature of the movie is so real to me, its the unsugarcoated world we actually live in. "Don't hate people because they are of a different colour, race, or sexual orientation. Hate them because, despite outward appearances, they are all human and that in itself is a terrible and disgusting crime." Edward Burns.
There is a whole Wikipedia information about how they made the CGI.
That says a lot about this opening title.
Best opening in a movie in years ! Simply astonishing.
oh yes it's very amazing
This would make a pretty good opening credits to a Bond film.
It would probably need women dancing naked.
theking24 lmao hahaha
You should see the opening credits for Spy Hard. Freaking hillarious.
Due to Daniel Craig being in the credits almost fooled me lol
One of the best opening sequences ever the black on black is just to cool
I don't usually like when some one covers Led Zeppelin but this version of the Immigrant Song is great.
Thank you, Tim Miller! (:
I remember when I watched this for the first time and saw that Stellan Skarsgaard was in it. I went, "Of course he's in this."
Lol...love it.
I may have just liked this movie, and not love it. But this opening sequence... IS ONE OF THE BEST IN ANY FILM EVER!!
Best movie Fincher ever did.
What a masterpiece! Best two minutes of the whole movie.
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the only book I can think of where I love all the films based on it. The Swedish trilogy was amazing, this was amazing. I just wish Fincher finished his trilogy as well. It would've been glorious.
And for the record, I'm not counting Girl in the Spider's Web because the book was written by David Lagercrantz or whoever, and it barely even felt like a Millenium novel. So neither the film nor the book are, to me, part of the series.
i love how they put all three movies into this intro :D, "The girl with the dragon tattoo", "The girl who played with fire" and "the girl who kicked the hornets nest"
Best title sequence of all time !
That’s how you start a movie.
The woman getting hit was her mother. When the face disintegrates it falls onto Lisbeth, representing how the abuse affected her. Lisbeth's face flashed back and forth to her as a child, showing her frailty and the connection to the childhood abuse. The face on fire is her father of course. Michael being strangers by clean hands and newspaper represents the powers that hold him down. Him throwing up money is him purging corruption. This is Lisbeth's nightmare, telling the whole story.
One critic summed up this sequence perfectly: "It's like a bond opening imagined by an S&M fetishist"
very badass opening.
I think the best way I can describe all of David Fincher's movies in one word is: "slick".
This is actually my favorite part of the movie. I find it amazing and exiting, it makes you eager to watch.
This is Art
This thing was created by Tim Miller - Makes me hyped for Deadpool.
Your hype was well aimed
david finch loves being creative and telling a story with the titles and opening/ending sequences. this and the title sequence in Se7en are two of my top favorites!
When this started in the theatre, all I could think was "Shit is about to get serious"... Such an exciting opening theme.
I can honestly say I've never watched a movie and then got excited to go back and watch the opening credits before now
whenever i need a confidence boost i watch this with headphones at full volume
Probably one of the best openings to anything ever!
this is the coolest thing ever I love it so much
David Fincher is a genius this movie was brilliant
David Fincher and NIN go together like black coffee and cigarettes.
I lovingly think of them (DF, TR, and AR) as the Unholy Trinity.
I saw this in the Cinerama theater in Seattle. My mouth was just hanging open in pure awe at this incredible opening. This is the finest I think I have ever seen!
This is one the best opening movie I've ever seen!
David Fincher has the best opening title sequences.
God, the best opening sequence I've ever seen. Quite the masterpiece. The only thing I regret is not watching it in the cinema. Must have been amazing on the big screen. Wonder how they will top it off with the next two....
salander's tattoos coming to life is bad ass. especially the dragon tattoo
This title sequence alone is better than so many entire films out there.
This was one of the highlights of this movie experience. What a way to get the audience pumped up for the film
proof that classic opening credit sequences are alive and sorely missed...
Of all the opening sequences of David Fincher's films (or any other film), this is the most badass sequence.
This is a really good movie I must say. I really recommend watching this one :)
RIP CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER YOU LEGEND
This opening always gives me the CHILLS! SO AMAZING!!!!!!🤩🤩🤩
Another amazing opening sequence by Fincher...his movies are always so visually stunning!
Sony: "How much black will there be in this movie."
Fincher: "Yes."
THIS...IS...ART ! Thank you, Mr. Fincher for showing this to the world!
The best opening titles in all of film history. It out Bonds a Bond film
it is still stunning but u cant compare that to when u watched it in the cinema. i sat there with my mouth dropped open and thought "wow, such a cool song, such cool effects :-O!!!" IT - WAS - AWSOME :D
this is so intense when you watch it at the cinema. nearly blew me away :D
This sound track is just way too awesome.
The original title for the book was, translated: Men who hate women. (Something like that)
In Brazil the book is called "Os Homens Que Não Amavam as Mulheres", which means "The Men Who Didn't Love Women". Is quite similar, and I think that fits much better to the story than the American title.
Arhtur Mezacasa but it fits because men don't really seem to love women xD at least, some of them, right? ;)
Yeah... In a dark way, they don't.
I personally think the original Swedish title suited the book better, but in America they didn't want to cause controversy and wanted it to sell.
I think the Brazilian titles fitted very well to the trilogy. The second book has the same title as the English version and the third is called "The Queen of The Air Castle" ("A Rainha do Castelo de Ar").
I found this so visually stimulating its beautiful yet disturbing... Perfection
I love how they but that wasp in there. Cool reference. Did they even mention it in the movie?
The woman getting hit was her mother. When the face disintegrates it falls onto Lisbeth, representing how the abuse affected her. Lisbeth's face flashed back and forth to her as a child, showing her frailty and the connection to the childhood abuse.
I was absolutely overwhelmed in my seat when I saw this! Left me trembling
With Seven and Millenium, I can easely say that Fincher really knows how to start a movie.
went to this movie with some friends at a cinema in colorado on a cold night in january...i had no idea what this movie was about and didn't know exactly what to expect, but by God, this intro DEFINETLEY got my attention
There should be an Oscar for Best Title Sequence.
It's impossible
@@christiansanchez5426 why?
stunning film, these opening titles really set the tone of the movie. it's perfect.
This looks just like a 007 movie opening.
That's what I thought as well when I first saw it, especially since it has Daniel Craig in it.
But in fact these elaborate title sequences are one of Fincher's trademarks. He's been doing it since Alien 3.
looks like Ghost in the Shell if the Puppetmaster was the hero
maybe , but 100 times better !
Yeah a James Bondage film
The World Is Not Enough
Idk how many times I watched this on this half hour 🥴🥴 IT'S SO ADDICTIVE!
I LOVE Rooney Mara as Lisbeth. It's a pitty they didn't complete the trilogy.
Yeah this is one of the coolest things I've seen and heard in my entire life.
Great intro! Never seen something like this!
