hI....I had a brand new Fiero GT in 1985. Fun car. Man those were great times under Reagan. New Wave music. Conspicuous consumption. Everything counts in large amounts !
I had a new '87 Fiero GT in silver, fastback, no rear spoiler. The style and colour combo was and still is sublime. I thoroughly enjoyed that car as well as the attention that it received as very few people knew what it was and it looked very exotic in 1987. I stopped counting how many people asked me, 'is that a Ferrari?' Yeah hilarious, but it was the 80s... Had to be super careful in the rain and the snow, and sold it 2 years later after 60K trouble free miles. Good times in a great little car!
I love how people talk shit about cars they have never owned or driven . not only have I owned and driven a 59 Edsel( I sold it to a museum in Germany) but currently drive a 84 fiero as a daily driver. A low mileage surviver . I leave poser Hondas in the dirt. Ha. Working on parts car for the supercharged 3800 v6. See u on the streets. Pontiac rules!
the second gen fiero was to have a turbo 6 engine. codename: porsche eater. it was going to be much quicker than the GM flagship, the corvette, so they cancelled it. Same story with the 1989 Turbo Trans Am.
When General Motors sould it's soul to the government, and became Government Motors, (didn't actually change name) I knew then, that all the good lines were going to die. And the enviro-whack-jobs would only turn out wussy-ass econo-box junk. To my utter shock, they kept Corvette, and brought back Camaro. But still, America without Pontiac? WTF were you thinking?
I love when people say things like"I had a friend that had one of these ca rs and it was junk no wonder they shut down" Pontiac s are awesome vehicles. People bought boring foreign crap and thats what killed them.
Pontiac has always strived to be different from the other GM brands and they were damn good at it too :)
