We won't be able to complain about drought wrecking our crops this year....lot's of hay, feed and straw...Now let's hope the winter isn't brutal for us and our animals. Thanks Dave.
@@brycewiborg8095 Lots of local deer hunters buy it for food plots. Unfortunately the market here is flooded with rye. Apparently lots of farmers couldn’t harvest early due to June rain so they let it go to grain and now the elevators have too much. I’m saving all mine for seed.
Morning Dave, coffee is on. 801 bales from 1st crop, niiiiiiiiiice. I can’t remember if you bale your rye straw for bedding or not, if you do that’s a whole lot of straw to get picked up. Good luck!
Great hay crop! Farming with 50 year old combines, sometimes we have to limp them across the finish line. 🙂Do use rye as a nurse crop for new hay seeding or as a crop unto itself?
@@farmerpete I’ll save all the grain for nurse crop seed. This was a great system for replanting a wet field and I have plenty of wet fields. There’s a good market here selling small bags to deer hunters for food plots.
i have a standing agreement with the guy who currently owns our old 8820 T2 so i can buy it back, love how clean yer old Dodge is, is it the 24v Cummins?
@@piperdoug428 Yes it is. Love the truck. Needs some repair like shocks and AC but that diesel runs great. I’d like to pull the box for a flat bed with diesel tank and tool chest.

@@brenterickson1695 Have you seen any wooly bear caterpillars? More black on each end means tougher winter.🥶
Thanks for the ride a long Dave
@@tractortalkwithgary1271 Love giving rides and since there’s no training seat I have to do it with YT😂
Heavy crops and plenty of hay... Best way to have it!
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin Good year for us with great cattle prices too.
Good morning Dawn and Dave ☕☕☕
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin Morning Ed. Are you still hot out there?
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn 98 yesterday.. and hotter the next few days 🥵
Nice rye. The old combine looks to have done a good job. Grain looked pretty clean. That's quite a hay pile. 👍🙂
@@farawayfarm2520 This 100 bushels of rye may be the cleanest grain to ever come out of that combine.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn It looked really good.
Good afternoon Dave and Dawn
@@tractortalkwithgary1271 Morning Gary. How’s Iowa today?
Good feeding strategy.
@@raincoast9010 Thanks.
I only remember rye as green cut for hay after it headed. I don't know what the market is ?
Seems to me it was like oats.
Thank you Dave.

Long time to wait for first cut hay... hope it's decent quality.
@@raincoast9010 Turns out it’s not far off our average. This close to Lake Superior it usually takes until the first week of August to finish.

@@patrickbachman2184 Yeah, it will be round baled for bedding for the main herd out at the windbreaks.

Did you get the straw baled before the rain came in? 👍
