Colls game looks so slow in compared to a year ago. He was never the most aggressive player but now he is playing like in defensive slow-mo all the time.
Yep I’ve seen a match of these two. Player up next was doing a warmup and checking before the fourth game, came back 15 minutes later, “what’s the score?” “1-0”. 5 minutes first rally, let. 5 minutes second rally 1-0 5 minutes third rally and was still continuing at that point.
Coll has grown up; he's married, and to a squash player no less. It's no wonder his thoughts often revolve around family and responsibility. That's a natural progression for any person, but one that can negatively affect an athlete, steering them more toward the path of retirement. Still, let's enjoy his game while we can; I agree that he plays (or rather, played) phenomenally.
Makin is playing great but Coll has become a little too passive this year..... as someone noted possibly after getting married.... he needs to add a little more aggression and some needed kill shots to his repertoire... he is being a little too predictable against the "quality" players... he really needs to take a look at this with his team and address it fast... he has the defensive skills to reset the points if his kills don't find the mark so really he has nothing to lose by giving it a try and it will make him a lot more dangerous...
Not sure if being married has anything to do with it, Sherbini and Gohar both married around the same period and both are still playing their best squash. The season is almost ending, I’m sure Coll will take the time with Rob Owen and fix whatever needs fixing for the next year, that is the champion’s mindset.
Can we just not have Makin vs Coll on highlights… I love this game, but if we ever wonder why the sport isn’t more appealing, look no further. Both are really top guys (phenomenal athletes and lovely human beings) but play a very dull brand of squash. You need to build the brand of squash more ahead of the first Olympic outing!!
Of course we all want to watch those with Rodriguez or Steinmann, very entertaining, but in term of winning and reaching top ranking, it's counter-productive. Remember Peter Nicol and the sosie of Gordon Ramsey, Lee Beachill, very difficult to beat them, they were just phenomenal retrievers, never ever attempted cross nicks... The only one who's been able to do both is Ashour

But i think tennis has a similar long durational game , yet they have multiple fans, can squash learn from tennis to increase its fanbase? or what are the reasons that squash is still a underdeveloped fan favourite?
I would absolutely love to watch these two go at it live, sure it may seem less exciting on video, but they play better than the best in my club, and 60 mins of high intensity rallies is better than 20-30mins of kill shots.

Congratulations to Makin, the hard working guy

Well done Makin
Makin seems to be playing a different deliberate game here.
Makin is looking great now that he's throwing in some kills
Yeah he was just a rallier before. These guys are so fit you need kills in your game
Lot of good work by makin the past few years to build up a great tactical and attacking game.
These two have very similar styles, don't you think?

In a way, Makin has a bit more intensity and Coll a bit more fluidity
Yeah jim courier won pat cash
It seems like Makin's style has changed a bit to Coll's style.
Very attritional, not spectator favourites but definitely both a player’s player
Well played Joel Makin.

Makin's hard work is paying dividends, beat Coll at his own game
playing out of his fur!!
Would love to see Coll get back to his previous form. Well done to Makin in any case!
Agreed. I don't know why Coll is trying to force his style into a slow and high game. It's not working
@@B1J0D I think his style worked extremely well for a stretch of months, but the competition adapted. Now... he, in turn, needs to adapt...
@@FinancialFreebo I'd agree with that statement..and so would Darwin

Makin has Cole's number.
Making playing some great length and lines, getting more shots in to his game makes few errors always a hard opponent for any player to beat 👍🥳
Love both these guys. Seems like Coll was down from his usual work ethic. Injured?
What a win! Seems like a super clean game also.
Coll's game has dropped off a cliff after getting married.
Makin, Colls Nemesis....
Well played Makin
Shot at 4:48 has to be clipped, PSA. Shot of the month?

Did Makin smile?!?
Watch the end of the video
Good from Makin, but Coll looks strangely off the pace.
Wildly inconsistent and stupid reffing in this match.
