@@norcal715 The reset tool is £50.00. Buy yourself a red laser pen £5.99 and point laser at the red light on the hilti for a few seconds and it will reset it. I use this method regularly and it works every time.
Hilti of course dont want to make the repair easily for you. Hilti wants to buy you a new tool. This pottet electronic should be illegal because reccources are wasted
As much as it makes repair difficult, and as much as certain asshole companies tend to use it explicitly for that reason, this is an application where potting electronics is utterly appropriate for engineering reasons. Encapsulation provides protection against dust, moisture, and vibration. All three of these are non-negligible concerns in a rotary hammer. Vibration is probably the most important in this case. Generally speaking, the cost and compactness requirements of hand power tools make it difficult to protect their internals by using a sealed enclosure, and doing so wouldn't address the need for protection against vibration. That said, refusing (as a matter of policy) to provide product service (under warranty or for a profit) while also refusing to sell extant parts under current manufacture for the primary purpose of ensuring products cannot be repaired by anyone else -- that's straight up disreputable bullshit. Don't get me wrong, I'm thoroughly aware how this behavior is becoming a growing fashion.
