Wow! That crystal is awesome. It would be quite expensive. A very nice watch. Also, it definitely looks like the Vostok approach to case sealing. A nod to one of Vostok's greatest innovations.
Luv this Bulova watch! Incredible design despite the short lug width. The bubble dome crystal and push down bezel feature are so well done. Great review Rob!
@KRJoye It’s an awesome watch and well worth the purchase! This is a stainless steel case that was bead blasted which gives a titanium look. Very clean!
I have the non limited edition.. the 16mm strap is not an issue for me… it is a real throwback to the original design in the 50s… I have a Tudor BB .. I have the Seiko Prospex Diver and this Bulova looks smarter and nicer then both… if you love vintage this is the one to get.. it is a true new old watch. The dome crystal is killer cool.
Hello bro!! I was just thinking bout buying this Mil Ships watch or maybe the devil devil you have, the 41mm one with orange background and all. Can you give me tips in choosing the watch?
Hi guys! Are you sure the LE sapphire Crystal is MORE domed than the regular one? I've never read it nowhere! For what I know, the ONLY dimensional difference btw the two versions, is the thickness of the case, due to different caliber (the LE one should be 1,7 mm thicker); but the crystal dome height should be the same!
I also got the LE close to your piece number. Love the look and feel of the watch but lume. Somebody from Bulova told me they did the lume super weak on purpose that’s for me the only downside. Enjoy yours!! 👍🏻👌🏻
I get the tyin strap. Its way less irritating on the bottom of your wrist if your bending your wrist allot. I get chaffing sometimes from wide wrist straps.
It's definitely a cool watch. I particularly like the bubbled crystal. It's odd to me that so many watches in the 1K and up range have horrible lume. What's up with that? I admit I don't really know much about it, but it would seem like good lume would be an inexpensive thing to add. I mean, budget watches that are a fraction of the price, sometimes have killer lume. What am I missing here?
The watch designers don't look at youtube or watch forums. A Chinese microbrand makes a average watch with great lume and they sell 20,000 watches easily. You'd think bigger companies would pay attention
Nice video as always. Well it's a year later and it's easier for me to find out that there are a lot of differences between the regular Milship and the LE one. The LE one made in Switzerland, regular one in Japan. LE packaging helmet etc, regular not. LE Selitta SW-200, regular 800 series Miyota (cheap, come on give us a 900 series at least) Caseback on LE deep milled relief, regular caseback has same design but is stamped and not that deep. The beautiful DOUBLE domed sapphire crystal on the LE is amazine! The regular one is much less domed! The LE is 16mm thick because of the bottom of the double domed crystal goes into the watch, 14mm for the regular one. Straps are different. I think that's it from what I remember.
How is the accuracy of this watch? I recently bought the Seiko Willard and found it to be losing at least 5 minutes in two days. I thought tht was really poor accuracy for a $1300 watch. Thanks for your video.
I bought the standard edition last week, for nearly half the MSRP from my local jeweler so don't get caught up on the price. Who pays MSRP anyway? I've been wearing it all week, including to bed. The lume stays visible all night long, so I don't know what's going on with the limited edition in that regard. The 16mm lugs to indeed limit strap options. That's too narrow for my liking, so I modified a 20mm Tropical strap to fit. The outer lug width is 20mm, so it looks like it was made for it.
That price either of them is way out of my league, compounded by the expensive import fees and vat in the uk but good for people who have the disposable income
The Blancpain/Tornek used the same ring-screwback and if you know Russian history the Russians likely copied the Blancpain... If the Tornek Rayville had the moisture strip I'd jump on it. The lume on the original would have been radioactive so it likely glowed really well. The Tornek used Promethium because it was super bright but a very short shelf life.
you realize how expensive it is for a company to make entirely new cases, dials, hands, crystals etc. right. Just cause an Ali express watch with $0 in their R&D budget can make a submariner clone with an SW200 for $500 doesn’t mean that’s the price range that movement belongs in. it’s easy to pack value when you’re just picking off the shelf parts and slapping them together
Yes but Bulova is owned by Citizen who is well known for making quality (not luxury) watches. A conceptual comparable watch like e.g. the BB54 costs 7x more - it has a better movement and bit better finish, yes, but still the Bulova seems to be a solid watch.
Even the Moonwatch they didn't get right. Too big and they used the cheaper no jewel movement. They should at least have used the jewelled movement in the Curv. Also on the bracelet version of the Moonwatch the bracelet kinda sucks. Doesn't really match, no micro adjusts and the double push button can actually be released without using your hands! Also why the hell did they make the bracelet version so incompatible for changing straps. Bulova watches aren't designed by actual watch lovers. They just throw something together and hope it works.
I agree the pricing is high but as an owner of two Bulova watches they are not sub par. Maybe their fashion line is, but their watches that target the enthusiasts are very well constructed with great finishing. Best to get them at a significant discount though.
LE and standard are very different hence the price difference. LE has sapphire dome, lume, movement, caseback, thickness, swiss made. Hunt for deals and get the LE
And what? Seiko destroy Bulova in every way. Seiko have great attention to detail whereas this Bulova is trash. 2k can buy you an Amazing Seiko. Even a 1k Seiko is better than this.
General release and limited edition are way over priced! the lume is so disappointing and sad. For a unreleased watch, they could have done so much better. Lugs could have been at lease 20mm… id buy the lunar pilot watch before I even think about this one. Hard pass. 😑👎🏻
Wow! That crystal is awesome. It would be quite expensive. A very nice watch. Also, it definitely looks like the Vostok approach to case sealing. A nod to one of Vostok's greatest innovations.
Even though I'm personally not a huge fan of the 16 mm lug width, I think it's pretty cool that they stuck true to the original.
Luv this Bulova watch! Incredible design despite the short lug width. The bubble dome crystal and push down bezel feature are so well done. Great review Rob!

"On your dive watch, you don't want the time to be messed up..."

They must be out of their god damn mind with that pricing.
Just did a review on this one and I have to say I really enjoyed it. That crystal is nuts 😍😍

Does it looks small on a 7.5 inch wrist? I'm wear usually 44mm divers
@@MentalPawn no… the watch looks totally fine… but the strap takes time to get used to
The 16mm strap is one of the coolest features in my opinion. Something different from all the 20/22mm offerings for a change.
Love it. Awesome looking watch.
I love the design… but can’t justify paying this much for that movement
Do you own any watches with this movement? Because mine runs well with in COSC standards.
I went with the LE... Great video Rob 👍
Hello bro!! I was just thinking bout buying this Mil Ships watch or maybe the devil devil you have, the 41mm one with orange background and all. Can you give me tips in choosing the watch?
Yes it works the same way as the Vostok! I have the Vostok Amphibia and the Bulova Mil Ships.
That’s dope. Love that method
I hope you're right about the caseback retention system, that'd be very cool. Still think it's overpriced. Thanks for the review.

There a reason you were winding it backwards?

800 is inexpensive but mine runs well within COSC, can't complain..
Limited also has Lume on the bezel and normal version only has lume on dial.
On the "cheaper" one, the engraving on the caseback is shallower and less detailed
Crystal is different too…
How is the accuracy of this watch? I recently bought the Seiko Willard and found it to be losing at least 5 minutes in two days. I thought tht was really poor accuracy for a $1300 watch. Thanks for your video.
Yeah, both editions are pretty fantastic. Just something different from Bulova. I love the size.
Cool as. At that kind of price I think I'll stick to my Vostoks with their huge 18mm lug width though.
This is an awesome historical watch, but a man's got to know his limitations...
Wow, it looks just like the Baltic Aquascaphe
You can say goodbye to any reasonable range of strap choices
so cool

Also, non-limited edition has zero lume on the bezel.
Can you get us a discount code for Mimo's? 25 % on Hamilton would be great. Thanks.

just did a review on my channel showing the removal of the case back on this watch

I just sold mine because of poor lume and 16mm lugs. Cool watch but those two negatives ruined it for me.

@@RandomRobReviews yup you did. I would watch the video again to give you the time but the watch turns my stomach 🤣
a Di-Modell Chronissimo is your only hope to salvage the look of that ridiculous lug width
ask me I found three or 4 options
If the sapphire is too domed, it gets brittle 🤔
Way 🆒😎!
The lume is about as good as my Sea Dweller 16600 😂
I feel like bulova as a brand had nothing good for the price... maybe the moon watch that’s it

The helmet?
Isn‘t there enough ugly plastic packaging in our water?!
Awesome watch, I like everything but the helmet it comes with, still too small.
Nevah!
Lovely watch at half the price - but at this price it’s only going to be for the fanboys or collectors
That's why they're only making 1,000 of them.
Go for the cheaper one . 100 %
Limited edition at the regular edition pricing and lose the helmet then maybe.
I like it but the strap is too thin for my liking. Might be a throw back but still not for me. Nice watch though.
16mm looks rediculous
Cool, but sadly not 2k cool.
