But I think we all have moments where some songs just hit you or miss you without much reasoning.

Yes they do write some of their own work as credits have been given to them recently for writing and producing and they work with their main producer Teddy. Anyone who says otherwise are not fully informed or lives in the bubble of their own fandom. Jennie rewrote her versus for “Solo” for a recent performance of her work. Alot of their solo work and live solo performances are wiritten by them. Rosé for her solo album. Jennie writer and producer along with Jisoo writing “Lovesick Girls.” Lisa versus for “As if it Was Your Last.” They are involved from the ground up.

okay.. here's my honest take on your reaction
but before going further i wanna apologize in advance if anything that i'm gonna say would be totally incorrect or kinda sounds offensive, aight now lets go to the breakdown
i think the reasons on why you didn't really like "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" were probably because :
- first you might already put so much expectation after your first indirect encounter with that song on STRAY KIDS's live cover on their KINGDOM PERFORMANCE
- secondly, you were accidentally given a random suggestion over a fan-made of mash up version between "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" and "GOD'S MENU", which once again making you ends up having even higher expectation toward that one particular BLACKPINK song
- third, you already had so much experiences with tons of STRAY KID'S hard hitting nor up-tempo songs so at the time it was highly possible that you just subsconciously expecting BLACKPINK's "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" to go hard as possible or to be as complex as what what you'd thought it's gonna be, and yeah based on what i saw on your first proper encounter with "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" i had a feeling you're not gonna like a certain element of that song since it doesn't match with your imaginary expectation
but again that was just my very subjective nor personal interpretation of why you dont get the vibe or why you didn't really like the original sound of "DDU-DU-DDU-DU", but hey ofc feel free to correct me if i'm totally wrong on any of those POV, well tbh with you now i even lowkey surprised that you seemedly liking "READY FOR LOVE" which happens to be a lot more chill nor slower song than "DDU-DU-DDU-DU", quite interesting reaction i'd say...
also about your uncomfortable moment with a certain reactor i'm sorry i didn't knew what's going on between you and that guy but i do genuinely hope it won't bothering your review toward any of BLACKPINK's song...
if there's an advice that i could give it to you is probably at somepoint you need to do a proper revisit to the original "DDU-DU-DDU-DU", and if later on you still ends not liking the song then it is what it is cuz at the end of the day people would always having a different way of thought process and as a fan of these 4 powerful ladies i can only respect your opinion no matter how much i love "DDU-DU-DDU-DU" as one of the best Kpop songs that ever existed in history...

This is not an MV it is a commercial film the song will not be released it may end up on the album will have to wait and see. The one thing a lot of people have missed is on the PUBG youtube channel is a 15 minute concert with Blackpink in animation it is brilliant who ever the genius is behind the graphics and the Animation deserves an award.
YG introduced the girls with the intentions of Jennie and Rose been the main attractions they were not suppose to happen. Teddy even confirms that in Light up the Sky they were going to be release hit, release hit and then fade into obscurity but as we all now know they didn't fade and are the BIGGEST GIRL GROUP IN THE WORLD. YG has become very very rich because of these four girls. However no one expected little Lisa to fly she didn't just fly she went super nova.
Based on what it seems you do and don’t like about them thus far, I’d recommend the following if you decide to do another:
-kill this love .. a bit more straightforward, the video tracks more to the song and there are couple of good raps
-Lisa’s solo stuff .. I’d recommend Money .. she’s the rapper you liked here (Jennie also raps) and her other solo is Lalisa
-Jenny and Lisa english raps (there is a compilation video)… they actually do all raps in Korean and English (for the Japanese versions) .. this is the English version of all their raps from all songs, its the part you like and it may direct you to full songs you’d want to react to
-Sure Thing .. one of their very early covers of the Miguel song .. Jennie and Lisa wrote their own raps at the end (from 2016)
.. my personal favorite is whistle, good beat, two good raps, but it’s their first song so sonically a little less mature than newer stuff.
Side note .. Rose (main singer) has done covers of dancing in a burning room (John Mayer), exception (paramore), read my mind (killers) and a live version of her own single Gone that all received critical praise and recognition from the original artists.

That was the first m/v song released from their Born Pink album after their 2 year hiatus. I was not impressed and rather disappointed because I wanted a m/v with the real girls which came later with Pink Venom which was sensational and followed by Shutdown which is a hit also hit the spot for me. But now having paid more attention and listened a couple of times, I now also love this m/v and the song performed by cartoon characters. Loving it too. With BlackPink you need to clear your thoughts and just listen a few more times. It really does grow on you.

You can't write off any group by just one song fyi most of their stuff is written by their producer Teddy Park a former K-pop artist. The rappers sometimes alter the raps during recording. They do also write some of their own stuff.
BTS in their early days had a lot more influence on their own sound and were more rap based.
Stray Kids are definately an outlier in K-pop as their given so much freedom to do the music they want.
The whole K-pop system is based on producing hit songs with in house writers and producers and it's hard to go against your bosses at these large publicly owned companies.
I think that you will see the Blackpink girls having more influence over their music with their coming album as they are nearing the end of their contract and their company YG entertainment won't won't to lose their cash cow.
K-pop is worth over $750 million US in exports to Korea, mainly conning from the top 10 groups indeed mainly from Just BTS and Blackpink combined.
I believe Stray Kids are starting to blow up in the West largely due to reactors like you exposing them. I think they're already more popular outside of Korea than in.
There is no doubt that the K-pop system has refined some incredible talent it would be definitely worth your while checking out more of it.

umm bts are still the main influencers of their own sound...why do you think they are taking a break as a group? they are unsatisfied with the direction their sound as a group has been going...they need to recharge and think so they can come back with new ideas.
and 3 bts members are in the top 15 of komca for a reason...all three are individually credited for writing/composing over 100 songs... and rm is the 2nd most credited artist in komca history btw
and about the rap...yeah they did more rap back in the day but its not like they dont do it anymore.
sugas 2nd mix tape came out in 2020 and jhopes first album came out a couple months ago...both are heavily rap based and there is still projects from rm and suga to come this year
also rapline songs like ugh!, shadow, ddaeng came out relatively recently
yeah they had 3 commercial english songs that they were not involved in making, but that doesnt disregard the 300+ they are involved in
they even write and produce for other artists...like txt, iu, Epik High, most recently psy and more
@@sampark9153 I hope you're right because lately I've found their individual projects much better than their commercial releases. I think things dropped off a little when Big Hit went public in 2020. Maybe they need to make less music and do what they want a bit more.
