    Have you ever looked at a large bridge or other structure whose foundation was rooted underwater and wondered how engineers ever went about constructing it or will ever fix it? When construction needs to take place somewhere that is submerged underwater, engineers use a series of large driven piles into the waterbed called cofferdams to create a dry workplace.

    This video is word for word the same as another video on the same topic. There's plagiarism afoot 😆 you both must have copy/pasted the same source information for your scripts lol

  • @ConcerningReality

    We create content pretty far in advance to keep a consistent upload schedule. Before we could post this, Practical Engineering beat us to the topic. Go check out their video on "How to build Underwater" here: th-cam.com/video/URC125wpMS4/w-d-xo.html
    Also! We mistakenly annotated a video mentioned in the video as from "Real Engineering". While that is a fantastic channel, the video shown was from Practical Engineering. Have a great day!

    the video called "How Underwater Structures are Built? Cofferdam Explained!" on the Civid Mentors has nearly the same text as this video, down to the very specific phrase "without getting too complex into the geotechnical engineering[...]" at 0.:44

    That's great and all but calling it cofferdams, which sounds similar to coffin dams, are not reassuring for those construction workers.

    But how do they attain water tightness ? Won't water seep through the the points of contact between the two sections of those cylinders ? Are they welded ?! 1:20 there are two smaller sections in addition to the larger full cylinders are they driven down too ?

    Neat video, but just wanted to let you know that the video you refer to at 0:45 is made by the channel "Practical Engineering" and not "Real Engineering" like it says. You must have gotten them mixed up, happens.

    Burning question: what context is the "Concerning" part of your name?
    Is it as in "Reality has been a very naughty boy and has concerning behaviour"
    Or
    "We need to talk concerning reality"?

    • @ConcerningReality
      @ConcerningReality  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes and yes. I should probably make a video explaining that... but in essence it's meant to mean we'll be discussing topics of "concerning reality" i.e. things that may concern us in the world, as well as things "concerning reality" i.e. things having to do with reality. This name basically touches on the two forms of content we put out, engineering/technology oriented and historical/interesting/oddity oriented. That answer your question? :)
