Hey Joey. Love your channel. Just found it when you did the collab with Omar and Alan. I train about 50 minutes away from you in Drexel Hill.
Today I pushed a new PR in flat bench at 270#. At 47 years old and 190#, I compete in open track meets in June and July at 800m and mile distances. Ran a 5:25 mile this Summer. Trying to break 5 by next Summer. Stupid ankle from multiple strains prevents a dedicated leg day (I used to compete in MMA - currently teach Wing Chun), so I work legs daily (push days I squat, pull days I lunge or hip thrust). Recently hit 310# in squat which is not bad for a distance runner. Looking to reach 350# by end of February before my run conditioning begins in March.
I also coach middle school track in the spring (certified USA Track & Field level 1 coach). I wish you well and continued blessings on the success of your channel!!

Even though you are repping with 495, I am just as impressed with someone doing 135 (or less), that uses good form. I miss the days of lifting in a real iron gym. I am going to a 24 hour fitness where guys load up the hip sled and come down only halfway and use their hands to help. Lots of guys sitting around on the machines and benches playing with cellphones and taking 5 min rest sets. Lee Priest said, that everyone wants to be big, but nobody wants to lift the weights to get big.

Used to run in high school at 165lbs, best mile was 5:05. Tried again a little while back at 200lbs and just barely squeaked out a 5:59. Honestly only got it because I could see the clock and the adrenaline kicked in. Conditioning was okay, but my calves were about to explode.

I got really bad patella tendinopathy and it was actually from squatting too low! I think its called anterior shearing of the knee. Alan Thrall has a brilliant video on how to low bar squat - he explains that squatting too deep is actually as big a problem as not squatting deep enough. Search 'Alan Thrall or Austin Baraki squat'. Follow the cues and I guarantee your squat will improve and it may help with the pain you are experiencing.

We just see more crazy lifts because social media attracts the "freaks", 90% of people can't even squat 225 ass to grass. I see people using a lot of weight, way more than they physically can handle doing terrible technique. Don't let all these strength freaks discourage you, it's possible to be just as strong as most PED users while natural. My best lifts are 275lbs bench, 335lbs squat and a 435 deadlift (and I'm only 6'0ft 175lbs) I get respect from dudes that are waaaaay stronger than me (they are also on gear) Just keep training hard and focus on YOU
