She did the most wonderful sight gags in her characters - especially as Mame Dennis in Auntie Mame! Whether it was rolling her eyes or using props to express herself like shaking a page from her novel in progress when Agnes Gooch says something crazy! Additionally she was perfectly delightful playing the Reverand Mother in the two installments of the Catholic girl's school capers. Again with the sight gags like snapping her bible shut when she suspects the boys in the school they were staying in were up to something. A true Hollywood treasure.
I just absolutely LOVE and ADORE Ms Russell! - Im trying to get my hands on a copy of her movie "The Girl Rush" (1955) - Thank you so much for posting this.
Rosalind was a tough and charming old girl, typical of the older generation of Irish women here in waterbury ct....I grew up 3 blocks from her house, and some of those ladies are still alive and well!
There's hardly anything left on TH-cam. It's all been lost to stupid copyright laws. Try Vimeo - you have to pay, but at least you get quality material.
That AFI list of the best comedies is absolute biased crap. MASH and The Graduate and Harry met Sally and The Apartment were in the top 25 instead of Jerry Lewis classics like "The Nutty Professor" or "Family Jewels" or "The Big Mouth" -- or movies like "The Naked Gun" and "Dumb & Dumber" or ""Caddyshack" or "Christmas Vacation." Film critics know nothing about comedies.
I love her movies one of the great Actresses!
She was great in the film "the Women". Sassy, brassy and a fast talker.
Can't wait to see the documentary- Roz Russell was a fabulous person and actress!

If Tom Brokaw loves it, I bet it sucks.
