I recall my permanent plate was 50 dollars. Sometimes I feel like just because I live in a state with horrible drivers my insurance premium pays for it.
What a timely video. We’re buying of a new Timberleaf Trailer in May and we were quoted $572.00 a yr. Both of us thought that was high. We live in Colorado where everything tends to be high. Thanks Kyle
Thanks and great to be of some help to you. 572 is high but the new Timberleaf trailers are more expensive than a Hiker so I can see the added cost, but that is still too much!!!!
This is what I don't understand. How can it be that cheap? Do you have the exact or very similar coverage and deductibles that I called out in the video?
My Hiker is insured with Farm Bureau as a “ utility trailer “ , $17k coverage for under $200 per year . In the state of Mississippi. I was on a trip and my tow vehicle broke down. I do not have towing coverage on the trailer . I think that your policy would have been nice in my case . F.B. Paid for towing on the truck only and I needed a medium sized wrecker , we were 12-14k lbs with the one ton truck and the trailer, a $1,400.00 tow . Some of the benefits would’ve been nice , you’re going to break down, it’s only a matter of time… to have a few extras on the trailer policy perhaps makes sense and could save $$ for the unexpected breakdowns .
Thanks for the comment. Your totally correct about "you're going to break down, it's only a matter of time". I posed that question in our Hiker community about who pays for the towing regarding your tow vehicle or your pull behind trailer. Seems like two different jobs (could be by the same company). Whenever it happens, it will be a nightmare.
I am in South Carolina. My insurance is 200.00, it is classified as a utility trailer. My registration is 85 for permanent plate

My hiker is insured with StateFarm just as a utility trailer and runs 175 a year full coverage.

Another option if you have paid for your trailer in full, is drop your coverage and eliminate your insurance premium altogether.
That's a good idea. It is fully paid. But it would take me quite a bit of years to break even on self insurance.
Insurance is killing ham radio.
Yes. Insurance is like the Ft8 of ham radio.
