    Hey guys.
Was this all done in a 4.2 1HZ?? Is this the perfect overlanding vehicle?? Can it maintain a good average speed up and down hills and passes when fully loaded?? Can it maintain an average of 100 - 110km/h on open roads?? On steeper passes, what average speed can it maintain?? What is the average fuel consumption when traveling fully loaded? I am considering one so your input will be appreciated..

Actually no - our trusty Baloo is a V8 4.5D. To us it is the perfect vehicle! The 4.2 is obviously the more ‘bullet proof’ overlander if you are considering extended african travels. Depending on where you want to use it, its sluggishness shouldnt be a hassle other than in SA, since you rarely exceed 100 on african roads anyway!
But the V8 serves us well, we have a second fuel filter and the only bad fuelissue we had was actually in SA once which can happen anywhere. We get 7-9 km per liter fully loaded, depending on road conditions. Obviously no issues maintaining speed on passes etc when needed. Just based on our experience the V8 is a fantastic allrounder, but you will also not go wrong with a 1HZ, as long as you plan your overtaking in advance on highways in SA :)

      Hi there.
I actually acquired a 4.5 V8 Double Cab. Does your V8 have any mechanical modification such as Map tuning, gear upgrades or clutch upgrades? Just want to get an idea if the stock standard V8 engine performance is adequate when fully kitted and fully loaded??

      @@riaanm6596 Hi Riaan,
Yes - no modifications like that for us.The stock standard is more than capable, especially the engine. We only fitted new suspension for fulltime heavy loading. If you like, we did a full writeup on our vehicle setup on our blog. Enjoy the journey of kitting out and getting out there with your cruiser!

@Seeking Wonder Hey guys. Awesomeness 👌. I enjoyed reading your blog. You have an awesome setup!! (I just acquired quite a unique Land Cruiser. Possibly the only MEANO CONVERSION double cab 4.5 V8 in the country. 2009 Model - Wide Body)
