Regarding Sevika (Silco's second-in-command) and her motivations... She's one of my favourite characters. Her motivation seems to be that she is absolutely loyal to the cause of Zaun's independence. She doesn't care who she follows, provided that they are the best chance at achieving it. Which is why she walked away from Vander and joined with Silco but later refused to side with Finn. From where she stands, she didn't betray Vander. It was Vander who betrayed the cause when he refused to fight back against Piltover's aggression.
She told Vander "No, you look weak" and then was with Silco's goons. In "Vi vs. Sevika 1" Vi calls her "you filthy traitor!" and Sevika answers "Vander had his chance". So she "betrayed" Vander, but because he didn't advance the cause which Silco did. When Finn tried to turn Sevika and get Silco out of the picture, Sevika killed Finn, and when asked by Silco "were you tempted?" she answered "Not for a worm like him, but he won't be the last" -> She is loyal to the cause.
Silco went out like a g. I loved how he says “don’t cry, you’re perfect” emphasizes the “you’re” as compared to the water scene where he says “Jinx is perfect.” Basically saying shes perfect no matter which chair she sits in. Unbelievable well written villain.
"Oh it all makes sense now brother. Is there anything so undoing, as a daughter?" Silco talking to Vander's statue is hands down my favourite scene in all of Arcane. The way they the arc of these two characters finally comes full circle is amazing. Vander almost had his rebellion, but at the bridge, when he saw the girls, realized that the price was too much. We follow Silco on his ruthless campaign for the same goal, and when it is but a hand's reach away, he looks at the very same girl, and he also realizes, the price was too high. I also love how Silco completely understands the irony of the situation and pours one out to Vander. best scene.
17:15 “is there anything so undoing, as a daughter.” His daughter undoes him, his plans, his vices, his need to pursue his desired utopia, because his daughter is inciting his humanity. He admits that he is weakened by his daughter but accepts her by his side nonetheless. Ambessa also said “ because you weakened me, I couldn’t endure the look on your face” to her daughter Mel. So she casted her out because her daughter made her weak. Silco solemnly & explicitly stated his acceptance of his daughter on his last breath. The parallels between him and Vi when Jinx fucked up and jinxed everything in both scenarios is sublime. He wasn’t mad, he didn’t call her a Jinx, he accepted her as Jinx and loved her. Vi albeit clueless of Jinx’s mental struggles she didn’t accept her, she wanted her old sister back.
One of my favorite parts about episode 9 is how they cast jinx as almost a horror monster throughout the episode which builds the tension for the dinner scene.
Processing emotions is a constant past time with this show. It is so good at tearing such vivid, honest, heart wrenchingly entrenches emotions from our souls. Every episode took time to process. I still tear up just watching reactors reacting to the show. (In the game Jinx's minigun is PowPow, her cannon Mr. Fishbones.) The scene at the end is so tragic for me also from a personal perspective. The two sisters who love each other unconditionally, but never learned how to communicate. Vi is horrible with her words, she shows love through action and touch. Jinx craves validation, encouragement, and acceptance. Vi doesn't realize Jinx's guilt is so deep the names of the family hurt her. It's a call back to getting carried away with the monsters in bed, but she never got the chance to chase them away for Jinx this time. Jinx never gives Vi a chance to SHOW her love, she ties her up and requires Vi to tell her. And there's Silco. He's good with words, but he's so insecure in himself and is terrified of losing any ounce of power that he can't help but weave poison in with the honey off his tongue. And Jinx realizes that. After all, it was never Silco that drove Powder to keep trying, keep growing, keep living until she became Jinx; it was Vi.
The very last sentence of the finale when the rocket hits the window is "What could have been?". It sums up the whole season so good. The whole show was full of things that any of them didn't happen then the situation would be less severe, different or even happier. So yeah. What could have been?
Silco isn't a good person, but when he's mortally wounded, all he cares about is his daughter and how she feels. He tells her how much he loves her and reassure her he would never have betrayed her, two things she struggled with since she was a little kid. He's not angry and doesn't blame her because he understands her and doesn't want to be another voice in her head. He's not a good dad but he tries his best.
11:50 First, it was _"If you're going to change the world, don't ask for permission."_ Now, we get _"In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good."_ Say what you may about Viktor but the guy sure makes some real quotable quotes. 😁😁

i agree, i dont think anything really ever sliced my heart up again and reopened the old wounds like seeing vander... he will always be remembered for the great dad that he was to them
Yep, can you even imagine waiting 3 years for the next episode lol Also, it's interesting that season 1 opens with Powder singing Dear Friend Across The River, a song about Zaun reaching out to Piltover and asking them for help, for cooperation. Then the season ends with this other song saying they're done asking. Piltover rejected Zaun, despite being the ones who made them what they are. They missed their chance to be kind, to repair what they've broken and form one healthy community. Now all Zaun has left is to make Piltover feel some of the pain they've been through "You made me this. Why don't you love who I am??" So tragic but sung so beautifully
The real fun was the brief period before the s2 teaser came out when that was thee finale. As someone who likes well executed unhappy endings this was my S tier.
re the scene of victor running on the pier in front of the boat: In that scene he overtakes the boat, while in the flashback scene, he stumbles and falls chasing his own boat.
Jayce in Act 1 was naive and milktoasty. Jayce in Act 2 was still naive but he was beginning to learn how to grease the wheels. Jayce in Act 3 HOLY "Get me Jinx and I'll give you your nation of Zaun" F'CK, what a chad.
One parallel, that I didn't pick up on for the longest time, is the line "I thought you could love me like you used to, even though I'm different", which hits so much harder if you remember that Vi said to powder "What makes you different makes you stong, always remember that." (end of ep2) 😢
@@sailorkaylax I think it's a very intentional homage, right down to flashing Caitlyn's face before the reveal. I honestly don't think I've seen a single reactor NOT think Cait's head was on that platter, which is a testament to the writing.
@@sailorkaylaxThank you for taking the time to do these and for being open and sharing your raw emotions. Too many reactors go over the top or get over dramatic. Yours feel very authentic.
I REALLY appreciate your take on the opening scene! I have watched countless reactions to Arcane, and you would be amazed how the vast majority can't even comprehend Jayce's grief here. That isn't completely pardoning Jayce on his part of this whole S-sandwich! I really do think Vi and Jayce have a lot in common - they are both really well-meaning idiots!
Oh totally I feel for both of them and genuinely feel they mean well 💔 it’s a tragic turn of events and I genuinely don’t even know what I would do in their situations
It just hit me, the Vi/ Jayce standoff could've gone oh so differently. For those that already finished the series, compare this to the ending of episode 2x05.
I've thought about this recently and only seen a few comments. But after binge watching this series and watching a few reactions, l personally think Vi is wrong about Jayce and her statements in the opening. In many ways think about it, while we can assume Jayce is from the topside, at least to our knowledge and can assume, he's just been a regular citizen himself. Yes he is smart and probably given more opportunities than those in the lower city but he had no power or say. If anything, he's been wanting to help and improve the world based off his experience with the mage and creating hextech. Vi's biggest pitfall as we have seen is she is brash, head strong and goes all in, she's also assumptions. Jayce has barely been part of this at all in however many days he's been a councilor. If anything, as much as I love Heimdeinger, he's more at all fault for letting the city down and letting it devolve to what it's become. Hell if he's been there since the beginning, he would've been there during the uprising, we don't know what power he had, but as smart and old as he is, he could've down more to help the city as whole. Also super ironic Silco was just talking about loyalty 😂 then a complete 180, EVERYONE betrays us lol I promise I love this show, just things I've thought lol. P.s. you can't start season 2 yet. You have to wait 1,085 days, which equals 26,040 hours ot roughly 3 years like the rest of us 😅
@@sailorkaylaxWhat’s the rest of your top 5? I want to prioritize seeing great stuff, based off your insights so far I bet I’d love the rest of your list too
@ Besides Arcane it’s Attack on Titan, Fruits Basket (shoujo anime), Avatar the Last Airbender and My Hero Academia (shonen anime) + Frieren is an honorary mention!
Savika's motivations are simple. She is down for the cause and whoever best can lead to the undercities independence. She was with Vander when it was him, she jumped to silco once it was clear Vander was no longer willing to fight, and should would have killed silco if she thought Fin was best for the cause.
Biggest cliffhanger ever 😢 Out of curiosity, do you have siblings? Your insight and emotions to the whole show, but in particular, especially the sisters seems genuinely developed ❤
@@sailorkaylax the "cliffhangery part" is just who lived and who died. But in the big picture that never mattered. Jinx made the move to finish what silco started. And that was that. It didnt matter who lived or died 🙂.
Vi (and most audience members) kicking Jayce around for being "privileged" and not caring about undercity children 5 seconds after Vi just looked at the dead child's body and said he doesn't matter. Jayce is the only one whose goal is peace and is trying to put a stop to the violence.
@@sailorkaylax I'm not going after you, just highlighting something that's easy to overlook. In this story, where people come from doesn't determine if they're wrong or right.
He tried to shot VI and shooted, he just missed (prob cause he's not a fighter). Look at the scene closely the bullet hole was quit close to VI's head. And she had already shoted of one the dummies of Mylo so the gun was charged
I think that’s an interesting theory but if that was the case then I don’t think Jinx would’ve shot Silco because she thought he was going to shoot Vi (at least that’s how I took it)
Yep.. It took 6yrs for RIOT to make Arcane Season 1 and do to a boost from Covid-19 it did amazingly. Arcane season 2 is better if you can believe that but RIOT is doing there own Universe. Arcane Season 2 raps up thing but then the 3 more story to come. The story is based of League of Legends if you didn't know and there's around 170 character in LOL. An they stick to the game lore mostly which is great.
Not my original comment, but one comment I really liked besides thousands is "Piltover made Jinx. Piltover's neglect convinced a man like Vander to put together the whole underground, and then lead a charge across the bridge. One of the more sinister but subtle implications that we see throughout the show is that topsiders and the Enforcers KNOW that the air in the undercity is toxic. They know the air is so toxic that they designed fully enclosed helmets with gas masks built in to them for enforcers who are regularly tasked with going down there. Look at the difference between enforcers patrolling topside, and enforcers for the undercity. Enforcers topside just wear cloth uniforms and use those bolo balls to ensnare suspects. Enforcers sent to the undercity are given full suits of armor, helmets with gas masks, metal telescoping batons, and rifles. When chasing the kids in the undercity, they didn't have those bolos to ensnare them, Marcus drew his sidearm and for a second looked like he was considering pulling the trigger. He pulled his weapon on kids. The difference in how enforcers operate topside versus the undercity tells you everything you need to know about how topsiders feel about "trencher trash." The way Marcus says "trencher trash" you can tell it's a slur. The council, the enforcers, all the people thriving and living in luxury topside created Jinx. Created Silco. Made Vander feel like the only chance the people in the lanes had for getting a better life was a violent uprising. With all the resources in Piltover, they never did anything about the toxic air and water in the undercity. Vi, Powder, Mylo, Claggor, Ekko, all of their parents had either abandoned them or were dead. The kids working in that factory? How much you wanna bet they lived there too? Piltover's neglect turned good people in to killers." "When Jinx fired that rocket, she made the choice to be fully herself and commit to her Father's dream : to get back at Piltover and stand up for the nation of Zaun. When Jinx sits at the Jinx chair and confronts Vi one last time, she's saying goodbye. She is Jinx and yeah that moment when Vi left Jinx made Jinx. It may have only been a moment, but it was a defining moment that spanned for years afterwards. That changed Powder into Jinx and when Jinx shot Silco and Silco told her "don't cry, you're perfect." Jinx realized that she was Jinx - that's who she is now. And she fully embraces it. Vi thinks she can get Powder back, but Powder is gone. That's one thing Silco understood that Vi didn't. And that's why Jinx said "I thought you could love me like you used to" but the fact of the matter is Vi just can't do that. Jinx wants to kill Caitlyn, she wants to kill enforcers. She chose the path of destruction. Vi chose the path that Vander had chosen. Jinx is Silco's daughter, Vi is Vander's daughter. That's the parallel the show is trying to make. And since Arcane is a frigging masterpiece, the irony in all this is that Jinx fires that rocket towards the council to honor Silco's memory. But unbeknownst to her, she will completely destroy what Silco had worked all his life to achieve : the nation of Zaun. She "jinxed" everything, one last ultimate time. The irony is she's exactly what she is and what Silco wants her to be : herself. A Jinx. Jinx. And her final act is to jinx the peace treaty and the amendment of the Nation of Zaun."
I don't think it's quite accurate to say "she chooses to become herself". Jinx is an identity that was slapped on her (quite literally too) and that, sadly, her life continuously validates. She tries to deflect from her trauma, attempts to reclaim it by wearing that identity like armor. But deep down there was still this little part of her which hopes to be loved and be helpful. Now there is someone who shows her affection, and she goes out of her way to seek his validation (like stealing the hexgems). There is a small part of her fighting her negative self-talk that says she ruins everything. Imo the moment she kills Silco is the final straw, where she decides to fully embrace that she is a Jinx and throw out any hope for herself. And I agree that Jinx fired the rocket in Silco's memory but she definitely didn't commit to his dream.
I don't think there ever really was any choice between Powder and Jinx; the entire dinner party setup seems to me to have been one elaborate "test" for Vi, to try to see if Vi could accept her as Jinx and love her "like she used to." First, she brings out the silver platter, just before she make the grand reveal, she looks to Vi to gauge her reaction, and (just my interpretation) she doesn't seem pleased, or amused, that she "fooled" Vi into thinking that was Caitlyn's head on the platter - she looks disappointed, that Vi actually thought she was "that crazy". Second, she said she "made [Caitlyn] a snack", which she reveals to be a cupcake with the Hextech Gemstone on top; to me, this seems like a peace offering - she is offering Vi her "cupcake" (aka. Caitlyn) and the Gemstone - if Vi can accept and love her. Third, she asks "where should I sit?" nodding to first the Powder chair, then the Jinx chair - but she positions herself on the side of the Jinx chair (a bit of an interpretative stretch perhaps) - I suspect she wanted Vi to tell her to sit in the Jinx chair, or at least choose whichever chair she liked. Fourth, she tells Vi to "make her go away, and you can have Powder back," but must know it's not that simple, and probably realizes Vi would never hurt Caitlyn - her hope is probably, that Vi will respond, that she doesn't want Powder back, she wants Jinx to stay as she is. Fifth, when Vi says they can run away, Jinx is hopeful that Vi is actually accepting her, until a voice in her head presumably points out that she wants to leave with Powder, not Jinx, which is why she gets agitated and responds "she's not saying that!" Sixth, and finally, when Silco points this out, she turns to Vi and asks if she's lying - as in "lying about leaving with Jinx, as she is - not try to get Powder back." Of course, Vi is aware of none of this - and I don't even think Jinx really planned it out that way. It seems to me, that she is just really, really bad at communicating her feelings and this whole dinner party was basically her way of screaming at Vi: "This is who I am, can you accept me like this?" - to which Vi's answer, tragically, was "no." "I thought maybe you could love me [Jinx], like you used to love [Powder], even though I'm different... But you changed too [you no longer see me as the same person]" Just my interpretation, though.
@@lastthing8173 i also really like the parallel with that “I thought you could love me even though I’m different” with the line from the first or second episode where Vi tells Powder “What makes you different makes you strong” 💔
Well, the good news is you won't have to wait years to see the continuation. But it doesn't get any better. In fact, season 2 was worse in so many ways. Arcane is the epitome of "kill your darlings."
02:17 You can't realistically judge people like that, that is, by the power of hindsight only. You can only judge them before they act, when the outcomes are still uncertain, if you disagree with their decision. But you said yourself that you're not sure at that point. You looked like you were on board with their plan up until that point. Judging them for an unforeseen consequence that you yourself didn't foresee, with the power of hindsight, is hypocritical. This is how the world works. Most decisions are hard, and most times there are no clean, easy solutions.
This may be phrased more harshly than intended. I like how you're generally super empathetic toward all of the characters - not everyone has that level of wisdom or maturity or whatever you want to call it. It's refreshing, in spite of the above criticism.
@@Yutani_Crayven I don’t believe anything I said was indicative of me judging Jayce or Vi - it was just an expression of frustration, but in the same breath I also say I understand why they decided to go through with the raid at the Shimmer facility! However, I do think it’s fair to hold Jayce and Vi accountable for the death of that little kid, regardless of their intent! Impact > intent imo
@@sailorkaylaxexactly, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. There was always 2 ways this conflict could have gone, and the symbolism was done perfectly. Jayce literally built a blockade on the bridge of Progress, he barred the connective lines that could have resulted in a peaceful solution. We all have the potential for good and evil, and nobody can truly know which path they are on until they look back at the end, but we are all responsible for every step we take down those paths, regardless of how clearly we could see the stones beneath our feet.

They missed their chance to be kind, to repair what they've broken and form one healthy community. Now all Zaun has left is to make Piltover feel some of the pain they've been through
"You made me this. Why don't you love who I am??"
So tragic but sung so beautifully
I'm happy to hear that Ekko is one of you favory characters, he is definitely the unsung hero in all of this. Can't wait for your season 2 reaction.
We have arrived. Amazing 1st season reactions. Loved every minute & more now onto season 2 ❤❤❤❤❤
Sevika’s motives is simply helping the undercity (as you may know by now)
One parallel, that I didn't pick up on for the longest time, is the line "I thought you could love me like you used to, even though I'm different", which hits so much harder if you remember that Vi said to powder "What makes you different makes you stong, always remember that." (end of ep2) 😢
Uuh, thanks!
I still think I would put that under coincidence or over-interpretation, but it's a nice detail to catch!
25:12 on first watch, I totally thought Caitlyn’s head was going to be on the platter. I was so nervous, my heart rate was probably 150 BPM 🥵
I was like “is this going to be like the movie Seven”
@@sailorkaylaxdid you notice she made her a cupcake? Wonder where she got that idea from
@@sailorkaylax I think it's a very intentional homage, right down to flashing Caitlyn's face before the reveal.
I honestly don't think I've seen a single reactor NOT think Cait's head was on that platter, which is a testament to the writing.
Thank you VERY much for sharing your authentic reactions to this amazing show.
Can’t wait to see your season 2 reactions. Thanks again. 😎

The best is yet to come
I was always asking myself, what intro music you use. But now I remember. It's the ATLA song that didn't make it into the OST or even the series :)
Powder's last action was killing silco, Jinx in other hand, was revenging him
Phenomenal reaction
If you love Ekko now then you’re going to REALLY love him in season 2, I’m looking forward to your reaction
Also super ironic Silco was just talking about loyalty 😂 then a complete 180, EVERYONE betrays us lol
I promise I love this show, just things I've thought lol.
P.s. you can't start season 2 yet. You have to wait 1,085 days, which equals 26,040 hours ot roughly 3 years like the rest of us 😅
Prepare yourself for season 2, it is a emotional rollercoaster 😅
22:16 Indeed. The point of the show is - just to feel. 😭

Savika's motivations are simple. She is down for the cause and whoever best can lead to the undercities independence. She was with Vander when it was him, she jumped to silco once it was clear Vander was no longer willing to fight, and should would have killed silco if she thought Fin was best for the cause.

It wasnt a cliffhanger tho
@@annabellaroma9886 ? That’s a huge cliffhanger
@@sailorkaylax the "cliffhangery part" is just who lived and who died. But in the big picture that never mattered. Jinx made the move to finish what silco started. And that was that. It didnt matter who lived or died 🙂.
Yayyy season 2
Vi (and most audience members) kicking Jayce around for being "privileged" and not caring about undercity children 5 seconds after Vi just looked at the dead child's body and said he doesn't matter. Jayce is the only one whose goal is peace and is trying to put a stop to the violence.
I'm not kicking him around, but I think it's important to hold people accountable!

Anybody noticed the gun said 'click' when Silko pulled the trigger pointing at Vi? I dont think it was loaded so Jynx never intended to hurt anybody.
He tried to shot VI and shooted, he just missed (prob cause he's not a fighter). Look at the scene closely the bullet hole was quit close to VI's head. And she had already shoted of one the dummies of Mylo so the gun was charged
I think that’s an interesting theory but if that was the case then I don’t think Jinx would’ve shot Silco because she thought he was going to shoot Vi (at least that’s how I took it)
I think you need to replay that scene. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure there is a hole near Vi's head and smoke coming out of the pistol.
Piltover's neglect turned good people in to killers."
"When Jinx fired that rocket, she made the choice to be fully herself and commit to her Father's dream : to get back at Piltover and stand up for the nation of Zaun.
Bro you are not ready for Season 2, specially for the Episodes 4, 5 and 6
Cant wait for your S2 reactions.
@@TrueVixeus there are WAY more tears, trust me 💔
@@sailorkaylax It's Arcane, what did you expect?
I don't think there ever really was any choice between Powder and Jinx; the entire dinner party setup seems to me to have been one elaborate "test" for Vi, to try to see if Vi could accept her as Jinx and love her "like she used to."
First, she brings out the silver platter, just before she make the grand reveal, she looks to Vi to gauge her reaction, and (just my interpretation) she doesn't seem pleased, or amused, that she "fooled" Vi into thinking that was Caitlyn's head on the platter - she looks disappointed, that Vi actually thought she was "that crazy".
Fifth, when Vi says they can run away, Jinx is hopeful that Vi is actually accepting her, until a voice in her head presumably points out that she wants to leave with Powder, not Jinx, which is why she gets agitated and responds "she's not saying that!"
Sixth, and finally, when Silco points this out, she turns to Vi and asks if she's lying - as in "lying about leaving with Jinx, as she is - not try to get Powder back."
Of course, Vi is aware of none of this - and I don't even think Jinx really planned it out that way. It seems to me, that she is just really, really bad at communicating her feelings and this whole dinner party was basically her way of screaming at Vi: "This is who I am, can you accept me like this?" - to which Vi's answer, tragically, was "no."
"I thought maybe you could love me [Jinx], like you used to love [Powder], even though I'm different... But you changed too [you no longer see me as the same person]"
Just my interpretation, though.
@@lastthing8173 i also really like the parallel with that “I thought you could love me even though I’m different” with the line from the first or second episode where Vi tells Powder “What makes you different makes you strong” 💔
Where it's going? Moongeese and angry oil slicks.

As other people have said - Powder's last action was avenging her father(Vander); Jinx's first action was avenging her father(Silco).

Well, the good news is you won't have to wait years to see the continuation.
But it doesn't get any better. In fact, season 2 was worse in so many ways. Arcane is the epitome of "kill your darlings."
If I can survive Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen, I can survive ANYTHING🫵🗣️🤍
See you in 3 years. ^^
