    You both are adorable! I love the enthusiasm and fun you have. Everybody should have a partnership like you two and the world would be such a pleasant place. Learned a lot already and subscribed. I am hearing impaired so when I can understand the host speaking, I am an instant fan. There are a few channels that truly sound like mumbling to me so I have to pass those up ... Thank you much!

    I just found you guys! I am 67 and I've always loved rocks. Your videos make me want to become a rock hound! I'm in central Texas so I'm going to start looking around using your tips. My husband can't go with me since he's 79 and has bad legs. He wears out easily. But I want to polish rocks and maybe make jewelry. My husband makes jewelry with crystals. During this pandemic, I find myself wanting to do something creative. My vegetable garden is a bust. I work full-time (still) from home but I have time to be creative. I'm going to look for a good reference book to use. I look forward to watching your videos. Thanks. Carol

    I am a Newby. Found my first agates on a vacation in the Wind River in Wyoming. Lots to learn to identify beautiful agates from the less beautiful. Cutting with a tile saw and polishing with my glass polishing equipment. Very rookie and not adequate, but a way to start with what I have. I am enjoying learning from you. I'm in Florida, so I don't know if I can find much here. Thanks for sharing your experience.

      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, Glass, we all started out as a Rookie Newbie... our Rookie days are just a bit further in the past than yours! Even now, we find ourselves doing Rookie mistakes, like not wearing eye protection or a mask during the making of this video, but we did wear them off camera... As far as finding agates in Florida, I pretty sure there are some there ... they may not look like the west coast agates we show, but they are around! Check out Wyld Kyle's channel & Theo Kellison's channel ... I know both of them have hunted agates in Florida!
      As far as cutting with a tile saw & polishing with glass polishers, ya do what you can with what you have until you can get the tools you want!!

    I have the hardest time differentiating plain quartz and Agate. I live in Colorado and quartz is everywhere in almost every color. Every time I pick up a glowing rock it is just quartz. It never has bands or anything that would lead me to believe it is agate.

    • @momseajay
      @momseajay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Chris McKenzie, I totally understand your frustration. The thing is not even geologist can agree on what constitutes an agate. The dictionary say this: an agates is a fine-grained variegated chalcedony having its colors arranged in stripes, blended in clouds, or showing moss-like forms. But the problem stems from the fact that quartz, agate & jasper is all Chalcedony! This is a quote from FossilEra.com: Chalcedony is a broad term to describe a microcrystalline form of silica. Agate is any type of chalcedony which is translucent, while jasper is any type of chalcedony which is opaque. So the accepted parameters for an agate is that it must be transparent or translucent, has a waxy texture, typically white, grey, and yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, but shades of blue and green have been noted, may or may not have bands, lines, or patterning, may have druze or not. Yeah, I know, pretty vague! I have seen quartz crystals that were classified as agates because of the growth lines. What I have noted mostly is river rock or water tumbled stones are mostly referred to as agates. I hope this helps, it is about as nailed down as I can get it! You can also watch our video, Agates Made Easy, The Definition of Agates. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/whF-saosHcE/w-d-xo.html

    Love you guys! You inspired me to start rock hounding in my own back yard. I have river rock all around the foundation of my house and have found some pretty clear quartz and rough agate. I just bought a tumbler and am getting my first batch ready. I live in Colorado and am now totally addicted to researching hunting sites and how to recognize the signs. Its winter so not the best time to head up the high country but a great time to watch vids and learn. Thanks for your tips!!!

    Are agates geographical? Because I'm in Phoenix Arizona and the kind of agates that you find and I see on videos Oregon California Lake superior, I'm not finding here. I've checked a lot a rock beds . A little bit of white carnelian but few agates, and not the kind you're finding. I want some of those yellow carnelian chunkers that you guys are finding !

      Hi and thank you. To answer your question. There's no doubt that rocks, agates & gems are geologically specific. Be sure and check out your local rock and mineral shows, they often have rocks from out of the local area. Also develop FB friends and trade what you have in abundance of for what you want. If all else fails send us an email and we'll send you a couple yellow agates for cheap and you pay shipping.
      Thanks again

      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Aboobacker sum, great question but we are not in the business of selling agates. Some helpful hints would be checking similar types of agates that you possess and want to sell on ebay auctions, on etsy sales of the same types. Also you can check on Facebook agates, buy, sell and trade. Lastly asking your Facebook friends that are actually selling their agates.
      Good luck to you and thank you for your question.
