    Hi everyone. Thanks for watching. For the record, I do not own a timeshare nor am I advocating you buy one. I am aware of the issues with them (was once a Dave Ramsey fan, etc.). I myself was curious about how they are structured legally so I did some research and made this video.

      Hi Jerry - Yes, I'm aware he's not a fan. I'm not sure I am either, but i was most interested in how they work from a legal / property view so I decided to investigate. Thanks for watching!

    Timeshare were very popular in the 80s and 90s, before we had the internet to look for deals. They were especially popular for families, because you’re typically staying in condos with kitchens and multiple bedrooms. My parents own 10 weeks of timeshare, including Disney and Marriott. It’s a lot of work to book the dates you want and locations you want. There are many condos on Priceline and Hotwire now for about the same or lower than maintenance fees for a timeshare.

      just curious, for all that effort and money wouldn't it be better to just make your living space better? why burn all that gas to go on ten weeks of vacation every year. that seems absurd. there is no way vacation is more fun than being home unless your home completely sucks.

      @@MissRaznavacation is so much fun, I’m someone that likes to see new places and experience new things, I also don’t like to stay in one spot for too long so I’m always going somewhere, it’s just in my roaming nature. Being at home for too long makes me bored.

  • @chrisorr8601
    @chrisorr8601 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Surely it's just easier to look around in the area, and just rent a villa/apartment for the same week each year. Because that way you probably won't be dealing with a corporation, and you can build a rapport with the owner and maybe get discounted rates if you book regularly

  • @timelessmusicfamilymusic9175

    I don't like an on going bill that I may or may not ever use. I like to on vacation & pay the bill in full when it's all over. Pay only what I 'actually use'. Plus, I don't like going to the same place over & over again.🏖

    I stayed in a former family member's timeshare in Mexico. It was actually very nice and we had an enjoyable time. The only thing is we were highly encouraged to go to the free welcome breakfast which was an intense timeshare selling meeting. We stuck to our guns saying no, got our free breakfast and a discount to use on a local attraction. That part sucked. The rest of the resort was beautiful and the service was amazing. I know that's not everyone's experience though.

    Great information explaining timeshares. They certainly can be a good way to travel for those that know how to use them. They take work and a lot of research to get the most value from them. Unfortunately many people buy them after sitting in on a 60 minute sales pitch and don't do the research needed to decide if it is the right product for them. Thanks for the thorough explanation about timeshares!

    • @alicea5
      @alicea5 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can share, how much is the annual maintenance fee for that complex?
      I would understand if the unit was luxurious and everything about the unit is top modern edge technology and decoration, but for a regular unit...I would just book a cheap hotel for the night and be on my way. I am beginning to feel that timeshare is only for the “rich” middle class.

      It's like renting a hotel room but you do it once and then are forced to do it forever, keep paying for it whenever you go use it or not, also fees, maintenance etc. Stack up and keep growing and you're stuck basically having money disapearing from your account for nothing. If one doesn't think it's a scam just show him or her how tons of people put their timeshares for sale for 1 dollar... And yet no ones buying lmao thankfully most people aren't that stupid when they have a chance of googlijg this stuff instead of being pressured at some sales pitch.
      If you ever go to a meeting of this sort, just remember.. Getting a hotel for a week once a year will cost you less. And you can travel around the world a week per year instead of being forced to go to this one specific place because you must pay for it lmao.
