Great video! That's exactly what happened to my motor. You saved me a lot of time and money. The connection appeared to be okay at a glance. I would have most definitely payed no attention to it, as it looked good. Thank you.
This is the fourth video I watched and I was just fixing to order parts and I went back to it and noticed it was all corroded in there and I just scraped it with a screwdriver in it started thank you
Thanks for the great Video! 1988 25hp Evinrude no spark....exact same issue. Works perfect now after cleaning connections....only threw money at new plugs before seeing your video.
Omg great video that’s exactly what was wrong with mine I checked for spark When I fixed the ground and I knew right away because I had spark.THANKS wish2fish
Very helpful I hope we see when I get home I have a Johnson 50hp 2stroke has no spark at all was running fine ima check it when I get home. Fingers crossed
@@wish2fish37 hey , great video & information much needed I have a 1987 evinrude 30 HP outboard gas motor , with the same problem - do you have a video on how to remove the part for cleaning ?
@@montellwilliams811 just remove the two bolts holding it on.Very simple.I point to the upper bolt I removed in the video.Only need to pull the bolt the ground is on and clean it and where it touched block.
Thanks for the video, I have a 1988 40hp engine that I had the same issue with. I have already bought and installed a new Power Pack on it before I had seen this video. I can’t say this would be a fix yet as it also needs extensive electrical work still.
For clarification and lack of confusion I think it would be helpful if you referred to the "CDI" by its correct name: Power Pack. CDI is a company who makes aftermarket power packs. Regardless, this is a very helpful video and I thank you for posting it.
You might consider "fact" checking yourself. Capacitive Discharge Ignition (CDI) is the correct term for these type ignition systems. I'm older than dirt and the patents on these things are older than me.
Mike Duran, I'm trying to find the power pack for my 30hp Johnson and the only thing I'm coming up with is something called a CDI pack. Would that be the part I'm looking for? 😏 Now I'm all confused
