I have almost 4k deliveries. And I didn't know about this. I have waited over 10 minutes countless times and unassigned and took the hit on completion rate. Thank you for this video.

Unassign as much as you need. I'm at 12k deliveries. Seen some things. Currently at 96% completion rate but I regularly fall to 87, 88, 89 etc. I wouldn't be worried even if you drop lower. Sometimes you have terrible waits/service sometimes at several stores consecutively. Your mood and efficiency is all that you should be worried about. DD and UE will not reward you for doing what they want you to do, instead, they make continued attempts to coerce you into WORKING TOO MUCH FOR TOO LITTLE $. No value for long time workers. Guy just outta jail taking every order is more valuable to them than I am. I never forget this. Be selective as you deem necessary and back out as soon as you can tell you're dealing with a bad shop or employees.

Yeah this is mostly aimed at those people right on the edge of deactivation as they unassign way to much. There are also places just infamous for telling drivers 5-10 minutes when they really know it is 15-20 minutes.

I'm at 800 deliveries, and I tend to do this. The only thing I'm worried about is thar my acceptance sometimes gets close to going below 20. Should I be worried about that or just ignore it? All my other rating are in the green so I hope they wouldn't shut me down just for the acceptance rate, but sometimes I worry.

    • @scottjannarone6622

@@PaulRizzo504 What I don't understand is the restaurant knows it will be 15 minutes, which is plenty of time for you to unassign and another driver show up to grab the order on time... But if you wait 10 minutes and no sign of your order so you use this method to unassign now another driver has to pickup and get there in 5 minutes. It hurts the restaurant and the customer to lie, but not you... So why do they keep doing it? Maybe they just don't understand how the system works?

Just tried this for the first time in a long time and apparently something has changed! When I went to unassign it, exact same steps as I used to and as voiced in your video, and said we will unassign you from this order and your score will be impacted!! So unless I'm missing something they took this from us too!! I have over 3,000 deliveries, so I'm familiar with the process! I bet it's because they're pushing a higher completion rating...

I had this happen to me too. It worked for a week and then I wondered if I did it too much because now it doesn’t work anymore. The last time it worked successfully, I accidentally had typed in excessive wait time and it sent me to a chat agent. I ended the chat, and reopened it. I successfully unassigned it without penalty but then 30 seconds after that I got a call from DoorDash. I didn’t answer but wondered why they had called me. Since that day, it doesn’t come up for me anymore. Looking for some help.

Thank you for the heads up. Fast food restaurants like McDonald's are notorious for long wait times and there is no excuse for a delivery driver to wait especially when Doordash sends a message that the food is ready. So basically you need to keep track of your arrival time at the restaurants.

    • @PaulRizzo504

Yeah so if 12pm then around 12:10pm with a few second added on. So closer to 12:11pm. Literally just did it my last order of the shift I finished at a McCalisters Deli.

    • @DennisCosteaJr
      @DennisCosteaJr ปีที่แล้ว

I rarely have any problem at McDonald's in my Zone because the overhead display shows order progress! Only rarely do I walk in, wait 3 or 4 minutes due to a crowd of customers and earlier drivers, then learn a SPECIFIC order was picked up 10 to 15 minutes earlier! The "kicker" on that is, of course, I text the customer asking, 'Has the delivery order from McDonald's arrived yet?' and the answer is ALWAYS "No."... which is doubly frustrating and now I will look for Dasher Help chat of, 'The restaurant reports this order has already been picked up.' and whether it is a duplicate delivery ticket or "theft" of the order by someone else... I must begin recognizing THAT is beyond my control. Period!

Others have tried the steps and did not get to the screens I showed. Others have had it work with no issue. So for me in Louisiana it is still consistently working and the only states that I know have trouble would be California and New York. I am sorry if it is not working and I may toy around with it to see if there is a more direct way to trigger the message with less steps.

This is through the automated process, not the phone. You are effectively giving up a chance at half pay for that 30-minute insanity to get out of there after 10 minutes with no penalty hit. This was still working as of yesterday when I used it.

So sitting at roughly 2,000+ orders and maybe 100 or more have used this. This is actually what support does when you call to complain about waiting too long.
It is a built in feature that they hide because of obvious reasons.

    • @misterclownface
      @misterclownface ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@PaulRizzo504 I will try this thanks. But if support removes the order for complaining the order is taking too long, they will remove the order, but it will still count against you.
Any time a support person removes an order for me it is an unassign and my CR goes down 1%. They have to cancel the order to not effect your rating.
I even had one time where I complained to a support rep where I kept getting dinged on my CR when it wasn't my fault in the past even though support removed the order.
She said don't worry, I'll make sure it doesn't effect your rating this time. She then cancelled the order completely instead of unassign.
I will try this anyway, but i'm not too confident this will work. And looks like the commenter above tried it 4 times and didn't work.
I'll report back. But it is rare I have to unassign for waiting too long. I avoid places that take too long and if I do go to one of those places, it will be for a really good payout where I'm willing to wait beyond 10 min.
I had a double order last night that took a while, but it was 2 stacked for $18.50. I just waited the 25 min it took to be completed.

DD pushes several app versions continuously. It may work on one version but not the others.
I've had my app change font and layout during a shift.
The one tap Decline function comes and goes.
Note these versions are automatic whether you update or not.
I've seen other Dashers standing right next to me with same OS phones with different looking/functioning apps.

Today I waited.in line at Taco Bell for a long time when the app pops up the message you may unassign this order without being penalized, they say that if you wait ten minutes you will still receive the TIP. I did not get the TIP so I contacted chat and the chat help argued with me and said they never tell drivers to unassigned. They then said something about human contact and disconnected me from chat. NO TIP!!! I QUIT!!!

I tired this last week and it worked. I didn’t it for 3 different orders. This week I unassigned a bad order on Sunday, and then got another bad order. When I went to do the same process, the Ai chat responder no longer let me unassign without penalty after 10 minutes, I waited 5 more minutes but it still didn’t give me the message. So I unassigned anyway and my cancellation rate dropped. Today, I tried again and it once again didn’t work.
My question is, did DoorDash figure out drivers were doing this and now we can’t use this to successfuly unassign orders without penalty anymore!
Hope you see my question. Thanks for making the video! I hope there’s still a way to do this. Some times I hate doordash for screwing us drivers over with bad orders.

No no no I wouldn't trust this if ur completion rate falls below 80 u can deactivated if u reasign order keep track of ur completion rating it is so hard to improve ur completion rating it takes at least 3 completed orders to pull ur completion rating up one point oh yeah even if u unnasign a order ur acceptance rating won't be impacted

    • @PaulRizzo504

After 10 minutes, you are shown text saying it will not affect your completion rate. This is extremely easy to verify. Next order, you wait more than 10 minutes. You can test and verify that your acceptance and completion rate were not affected.

12,500 plus deliveries. I watch you people all the time drop orders. Then 2 minutes later another dasher shows up and boom its ready, 2 more minutes of patience and you'd have had full payout.
If I've taken a run, it's worth it... so I'm not investing 10 plus minutes and then giving someone else the payout and having wasted my time.

12,500 orders and you do not know which restaurants are just making up times? I would hope by that point you know the time expectations in your area.
You forget Doordash counts on new dashers not knowing this and waiting 30 minutes. They refuse to hold restaurants accountable for excessive wait times.
