- In this video we will show a little more of the city of Cerro Corá in Rio Grande do Norte, the "Suíça do Seridó". Here on our channel there are other videos of the city and the Seridó Geopark (Serra Verde Geosite).
We will show you tips on accommodation, what to do in Cerro Corá, in addition to showing the house where the family of Tomaz Pereira de Araújo lived yesterday, the man who turned the city into this tourist power, with beautiful natural landscapes that enchant all who visit.
We stayed for the second time at the charming and cozy Pousada Colina dos Flamboyants.
Come and discover Serra de Santana and stay in the best and most charming inn in Seridó. Colinas dos Flamboyants offers Kayak rides, pedal boats, as well as trails to the region's tourist attractions, accompanied by guides with ongoing driver training and extensive experience in scouting, providing incredible landscapes and views. The visitor can also choose the means of transport: a comfortable Land Rover, or a double dose of adventure, in a traditional “Pau de Arara”.
Throughout the year, the Pousada, located in Switzerland do Seridó, becomes the stage for various events, valuing good music and local culture, with sarais, tributes, festivals and shows with attractions from Rio Grande do Norte.

Seridó Geopark:
The dream of a geopark in Seridó began in the early 2010s, within the scope of the CPRM Geoparks Program (Geological Survey of Brazil), when Marcos Nascimento (UFRN) and Rogério Ferreira (CPRM) presented a field diagnosis with an initial proposal for the delimitation of a geopark in the area. Over time, new inventories were carried out, new research developed and, mainly, the local community identified with the idea, which was embraced by artisans, tour guides, farmers, teachers, journalists, businessmen, managers and the population in general. When asking people from Seridó about the Seridó Geopark, many today already recognize the theme and support the initiative.
Countless natural processes, over the last 2 billion years, especially in the last 640 million years, were responsible for shaping the landscapes of the region, marked by mountain ranges, peaks and depressions, in addition to the rocky exposures of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Mining is an important economic activity, and its peak was reached in the second half of the 20th century, through the exploitation of scheelite (calcium tungstate, CaWO4), mainly by the Brejuí Mine, the largest of this ore in South America.
In the region there are also important records of ancient peoples, who left their presence marked on the Seridó rocks through paintings and engravings, showing that the relationship of local peoples with nature goes back thousands of years. The territory's biodiversity is also of great importance, especially as it composes an exclusively Brazilian biome-the caatinga. Therefore, there is an identified endemic flora and fauna. Paleontological records also show the Pleistocene fauna of the region, composed of megafauna (sloths and giant armadillos, saber-toothed tigers, among others).
The geological heritage of Seridó needs to be registered, which is why this site was structured, as a way of disseminating this potiguar territory, so beautiful, vast and rich, in geodiversity and biodiversity, in culture, in people.
