A lot of folks may think they don't need a vest if they are strong swimmers, but when snorkeling with family members it can still come in very handy. I'm a diver and generally comfortable in the water, but I've had several situations over the years with family members while snorkeling -- and one where I had to swim pushing a sea kayak to keep family members from drifting too far -- where I was glad to have a vest on.

love your show, as a 69 yo 40 yr diver I'm still learning. Recentyl inhertied a beatiful Dacor regulator and yesterday was told by local dive shop they would not service it but I should use this beauty as a trot line weight. I've watched your vintage videos but am not mechanically inclined. What recomendations do you have for my getting this serviced. Thanks

Dacor was a great reg, used one for decades. It is possible to get service parts and maybe some trained to do it. Suggest contacting the Dacor Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/409323183484812
and my vintage buddy Rob at: www.thescubamuseum.com/default.htm.
They may be able to get your Dacor back diving again.

I used one as a BC in the early 70's. U.S. Divers. Worked just fine.

The major difference is the scuba vest is inflatable while most kayaking/canoeing vests are solid.

Hello, follow you from 🇷🇼. I don't know how to swim but I love the water, every time I go to the pool I swim with a life jacket but I want to buy this snorkel jacket for myself. So the problem is, if I wear it, will I float on the water or I'll sink?

Inflate the vest and you won't sink. It's not a life jacket, different rules apply to them but for snorkelling this works perfectly.

Pull the valve up. Squeeze with arms. Inflate, pull the valve up, blow.

Very sad how many legends are leaving us. Their stories, experiences and exploits will be missed. I share the stone age days of diving in my Vintage Scuba series so new divers, and 'mature' divers can remember and enjoy.
