    instasubscribed, wild foraging queer from Berlin via Indiana!
    Just this week ( Dec, 9, 2024; -10c) foraged some frozen velvet shanks, wood ears (already three dehydrated jars this year), and amber jelly roll after taking the holiday week off from foraging.
    Tossing it in an udon soup with a kombu dashi-based broth with my partner.
    Perfect for a post-new years come-down from dancing!
    - Wood Ears -
    Rotting holunder
    Wood glows in gold against all
    In snowy winter

    I'm pleased to have found your channel, and enjoyed watching your foraging videos. Can I ask what the ingredients are in the liquid marinade when your cooked the soup at the end. Thanks

    Hi Fern great video, brilliant info as usual 👏👏 I think what sets you apart from other Foragers is you go the whole 9 yards, from field to fork and use your foraged ingredients and show the end result by making something that's edible from your forage, well done you 👏👏👏

    A little jealous over the Wood Ear branch near the end. Also some lovely Turkey Tails. We have more colorful Coriolus Versicolor here in states than you seem to, although there is a great deal of variation involved. A pleasing video. Cheers

    Looks yummy! Prob worth mentioning in future video how to compare and rule out Peziza esp P.Badia as I have seen them confused with some novices. (when you get tree stumps with mossy/soily build up)

    • @foragedbyfern146
      @foragedbyfern146  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! 🥰 And yes, we did consider adding those in but they’re so brittle I always think they’re pretty hard to confuse once someone has seen the jelly like texture of the jelly ears!

    • @ellyrussell2636
      @ellyrussell2636 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Once you’ve seen them both you know for sure. But until then i think it’s an easy mistake for newbies. Especially when you’re so keen to make mushroom Jaffa cakes.

    I love mushrooms! I go mushrooming with my mum but this year we didn't get much except from a lot of Amethyst Deceivers and some Ceps and a few bunches of Chanterelle's. But my overall favourite mushroom is a Parasol fried on bread! :)))))) What is your favourite mushroom Fern? x

  • @FlashToso
    @FlashToso ปีที่แล้ว

    Foraging is nice but should discuss foraging for seeds & cuttings to propagate to be more accessible even indoor & in winter (sprouts, microgreens hydroponics etc), especially highly nutritious super foods.
    That is how we progressed from a foraging society!
