Just a few terms:
When she says that FHA (The Federal Housing Administration) has higher foreclosure percentages than GCEs, what she is referring to are Government Sponsored Enterprises.
GCEs include the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) and Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (Farmer Mac). These are government-run and administered loan programs.
FHA loans, on the other hand, are usually administered by private entities that include banks, credit unions, and online mortgage lenders.
What Representative Porter is asking is, 'why are these privately run loans, that you are supposed to be reviewing, doing so poorly compared to the publicly run loans, when all other factors are the same?'.
What I'm asking is, why is Ben Carson in charge of the HUD and by extension FHA when he has no clue what she's talking about.
