It's great to see reaction TH-camrs continuing to discover this fantastic musician and person. Saw Rory three times in Liverpool, Manchester and London. Best gigs I ever saw.
And there you had Rory hopping across the stage on one leg shredding it and I can't even knock out riffs like that sitting down!! He was the reason why I wanted to learn to play guitar when I was a kid and I was lucky to have seen his live shows many times over the years. His ability to play at such a level and be a lightning rod of a frontman is unequalled! I'm happy that you discovered Rory, his legacy lives on.
Nothing short from it. People will always put Hendrix at the top and I always keep them both as the best in their own way. They both created and innovated and were miles ahead from everybody else...Page, Beck, Clapton...all babies in diapers compared to Rory. People say that the Cream was ahead of their time but its because they dont know The Taste existed and that was also Rory. Lol.
@@ldethgaming Once you discover Rory you won't go back! Rory himself had a favourite guitarist called Johnny Fean of the Irish band Horslips who was another rock god most people outside Ireland have never heard of.
Saw Gallagher on several ocassions and was somehow able to sit with him, have a beer and a talk everytime (Jazz Bilze 1976, Reading 1980 & 1981). Lovely bloke, very approachable, smart and ready to talk about any subject. Love the man. Passed away way too soon, sadly. Jimi Hendrix, when asked by a journalist how it felt being the best guitar player in the world, replied: "I don't know, you'd have to ask Rory Gallagher"...
Rory was the best brilliant on slide , rhythm, lead and acoustic. For blues numbers have a look at What in the World, I Could’ve had religion. Bad Penny , Moonchild, Tattood Lady and A Million Miles Away are all classics. While you at it why not listen to all Rory’s back catalogue you won’t find a bad track in it.
The problem is, you can't list all his classics. You wouldn't have time. But this track is just the junior version. Check out the '84 version in Belfast if you want to see raw energy and a crowd going mental for their hero. I know, I was there.
Thank you. This was the encore after a 2 hour show. The guy is finished. His shows were unbelievable. Lucky enough to have seen 2 shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh. As they say, the greatest guitarist you have never heard of. Definitely agree with some other comments, 'Walk on Hot Coals' from Irish Tour '74.
From Australia , the great legendary RORY GALLAGHER , we loved him in OZ , he toued here many times , try Shinkicker from the same show ( amazing ) , and for acoustic try ( Out on the western plain ) , he is a virtuoso on the guitar know question , RIP Rory , Peace from down under , great review thanks.
Check out Walk On Hot Coals from the Irish Tour ‘74 Album (not the movie), Bullfrog Blues and All Around Man from the ‘76 OGWT session and For The Last Time from the first album…and oh yeah, everything else he did
Thanks! This video is definitely Rory at his showman best, but not at his musician best. Please check out more of his live performances such as "Calling Card" at the Hammersmith Odeon 1977, "Do You Read Me?" 1979 Rock Goes to College, "I Wonder Who?" Belfast 1984, "Rag Mama Rag" 1976 Rockpalast for some samples of his guitar skills.
Tive o prazer de assistir Rory em meados dos anos 80 em Londres. Nunca esqueci aquele show. Local pequeno, interação total com o público, guitarra maravilhosa - saí de lá muito feliz!
Rory had many strings to his bow. Go to Out On The Western Plain which is acoustic. Rory is not just all about the guitar. His vocals were great too. Great passion in his delivery
Never ceases to amaze me how many so called "musicians" on these reaction channels have no idea what they are talking about! Stating the obvious doesn't add anything and nobody cares what key he's playing in!
Saw him live in 1984: Outerwordly guitar wizardry. Also the LOUDEST concert I've been to.... sonic assault beyond any metal band I've seen. Some of my favourite live clips of him include: Do you read me - rock goes to college Tattoo'd lady - rockpalast 1977 or Offenburg 1982 - two totally different approaches, equally brilliant. Moonchild - from the album stage struck - the definitive version of this song. Shadow Play - from Lorient 1994 . Visibly sick. died a year later, GODmode guitar solo! Also, it doesn't drag on as much as the one you reacted to, it is more to the point...and I prefer it that way,. Just a little bit - Roslyn NY 1974 th-cam.com/video/z9aefl3Ho6I/w-d-xo.html fantastic jam!
Put your guitar away when Rory is playing! Can't you do that part after you hear the song? It's Chuck Berry he's mimicking. That's where Angus got it from, lol.Having followed Rory and seen him in the 70's and 80's I don't think he would appreciate the punk designation, he was playing rock. Chuck Berry based rock in this case.

I did not say Rory was imitating Angus, I just mentioned Angus as a reference for a similar stage move. But, yes, I am well aware Chuck did it way before them both
@@JulioSiqueiraMusic it is not information, you are adding. It is opinion and no more. An excuse for you to compare your skills on guitar, and no other motive. When you do interject, which is quite a lot, it is with very little to say. The question is, why bother? Wait until it is over. My opinion

That beat up strat just sold in a UK auction for £700,000 and is being donated to the Irish State. Rory was the best guitarist ever.

Except that Hendrix never said that and you'll never find any record of him doing so. It's just a ridiculous internet myth.
Cradle Rock off of the live "Irish Tour '74" is spectacular, as is that whole album.
Noted!

Got to see him play many times in a small club in Youngstown, Ohio in the 70's and early 80's. Phenomenal
He is playing grunge in ‘79 ! Rory was amazing. R.I.P.
He bought that Strat when he was 15 yo. Played it for 30 years.
Esse homem era incrível. Guitarrista insano e arrasador! Minha droga.
That Strat was sold today for 700k sterling plus fees at auction. It’s going to the National Museum of Ireland.
One of the best -D best! He started playing before angus and jimi.

A lot of his playing was fairly technical. This was a bit of an open chord thrash to close out a show and have some fun.
Nadine!
Rory's strat was the first one in Ireland.
Owned by one of the Royal Showband before Rory, allegedly
This is a great performance but by no means his most spectacular playing. You should check out "Do you read me" from rock goes to college.
All he used was an old Vox amp and a treble boost.
