We always hear about the deadbeat dads. FINALLY the "real" dads, step, are recognized and applauded! Ty Brad Paisley, too many real men go so unappreciated!
This song will hit everyone differently. The idea is to be better, whoever you are. All the things I thought were harsh and cruel that I didn't understand were for my own good and I am glad he did it for me. Not to exclude anyone, same for my mother, family, friends neighbors who "snitched" on me, no matter their reasons, was ultimately good not only for me, family and friends, but throughout everyone. Bering the brunt, if ends ups in the overall good is noble. Accepting the difference, no matter how well intentioned is everyone"'s responsibility.

I lost the man I proudly called my dad in may of 2016 . When I turned 30 years old I had a surprise karaoke party. This was mine and my dads song. I asked her to ask dad to come into the room. And I sang he didn’t have to be. And he started crying. A year and month later he passed away. We played this song during his celebration of life ceremony. And I started balling my eyes out. I can now listen to this song and usually smile sometimes I do cry. But I’m thankful for all the memories I have with him. And all did for me and my brothers .
At least a man stood up to be a father to that boy. There are too many baby momma’s out there. A child needs an example from a mother and a father to many kids end up finding leadership on the street because they gave a direction, wrong direction but a direction
Guts me every time. This is my husband and my now-adult children. They were 3 & 8 when we married. We then learned I had a genetic disorder; we chose to not knowingly risk passing it on to a biological child of our own. He said ‘our two kids’ were more than enough. He has always introduced them as his daughter and son, the word step never uttered. Last Father’s Day they gave him a watch engraved with- You didn’t give us life, but life gave us you. The last girl that I started dating had a three-year-old son. I knew him before we started dating because she and I worked together for a few years........ But I didn't really know him. When we 1st started dating I was absolutely cool with her having a kid and I was fully willing and actually looking forward to getting to know the little dude. But then I got to know the little dude........ There are children in this world that are uncontrollable I don't give 2 flying fucks what anybody has to say about all children being precious angels...... because they aren't. He broke something expensive every single time he was at my place. His mom would be there she would do absolutely nothing to stop it. So I told him to stop rough housing whenever he was doing it. And each end every time that petulant little shit purposefully broke something. The last straw was when I caught him trying to shove A new puppy I got into my deep freezer in the garage. We were about to walk out the door and go somewhere that we would be for the rest of the day and if I had not caught him doing that I never would have known that the dog was in there, And would have no reason to even look in there for days. We didn't take our trip that day the only people that went anywhere that day were he and his mom and that's because I sent them back home and haven't spoken to them since.
Little things, is it raining at her house, ticks, whisky lullaby and spaghetti western ( some great legions of western on it) shit any of Brad is worth listening to. Forgot, I'm going her.
My mother thought of her stepdad as her real Daddy he raised and protected her. Her bio Dad didn't want my Mother. gambling came 1st not my grand momma or my mom
