- Let's be honest, everyone at one time wishes they could write music like John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The Beatles have influenced near everyone. From Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones, to Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys, The Who, Radiohead, Oasis, Michael Jackson, Prince Ed Sheeran the list goes on and on Yet, to emulate their sound successfully remains elusive to most. In this video we take a look at one of their most used techniques: The Lament Bass figure. This voice leading technique underpins many of the Beatles most beloved songs, and after watching hopefully you will understand it in detail and be able to add it to your music!

used a lament bass in my composition project in music theory 2. My prof. said it was called too complex and odd yet super cool, but still too complex for the assignment. I like get it but it really is too cool for baroque-sounding compositions.
