Let's play a game in the comments today. The game is called "DO NOT TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS HUNT". Do you guys think you can do this for me? No? Okay......
But it just showed how human speedrunners are at their first fight against a monster. I wished more speedrunners would show their process towards their perfect hunts. The first few seconds of the hunt with you just waiting from afar to hit it with the Marionette Spider was even a good tip for everyone. It made us see a huge picture of how it's first few attacks can be. And it reminded us to not start a fight head on if we don't know the monster. For Shaggy's sake though, I really think that they invented some of those attacks to annoy us hammer players. Like why should a monster block any passage to 30% of its body and why should it be its head? I for sure won't try this fight with the hammer knowing this. P.S. missing that Booster must have made this fight even harder.
Honestly this is the hardest fight in the entire game and it's not even fucking close for me. Nothing else in this whole game makes me feel so much like I'm in Constant Danger. So many of his moves quietly have insane autotracking (his pin-slap is literally 5 times more accurate than regular Shagaru's I swear to god), they come out so fucking fast (there's some animations on Gunlance where if I dare do them at neutral and he decides to do the Regular Laser, it literally seems unavoidable without evade extender), and his sequences last so LONG sometimes but in ways that dramatically vary based on just how Angry he is (he can do anywhere from one wingslam to Four And Also A Double Overhead based on how many layers of Frenzy/Arisen/Rage he has and *all of them explode* ). All of that and his damage is, like, actually completely unreasonable, like if you take One Hit from anything it does 60-70% to you through maxed out armor. Like, nothing compares. Literally Risen Valstrax is easier, even. Don't get me wrong, I fucking love it, just *wow* he physiologically CANNOT chill. There's a bomb strapped to his neck that will go off if he has an opening wider than 2 seconds or something, it's fucked up. And of course there's a contingent of people who are like 'idk I think he was disappointingly easy :/' because Monster Hunter fans can literally never be made happy, but then they also go 'I beat him on my third try after two carts' or whatever in the same breath, and it really makes me wonder what kind of Monster Hunter game these guys want. Because to be clear this guy never triplecarts me, but also I'm a regular human being who can tell when a fight is giving me trouble without it hard walling me for 2 hours in a game where you're meant to beat fights repeatedly. Basically I'm very glad Monster Hunter fans are not Monster Hunter game designers, because otherwise I get the feeling this series would suck ass.
I vibe with this comment so fucking hard. I love this fight to death. Easily one of the toughest fights in Sunbreak, no contest. He literally does not stop attacking. I was struggling to keep up with GS, and I had to really commit to hyper offense. It was a constant, exhilarating back and forth from start to finish.
At first this fight was basically just a montage of my panicked screaming as I tried to find an opening to make the pain go away. The explosions felt a bit unfair at first but now I'm in love with this fight. It's just so intense.
I enjoy reading your thoughts on the fights bc you discuss all aspects of them and not just if they’re easy or difficult. So yeah thanks for that, just wanted to mention it. My friend and I are gonna have a bit of rust to shake off before we jump into this one, that’s for sure!
Ngl I was taken off guard. All the explosions put bazelgeuse to shame. It's the hardest fight In sunbreak for me. And Idk what you think but he's a follower killer. Both twins fainted like 7 times throughout the fight. He's no joke. I basically experienced what everybody did with risen CG Valstrax. (who I think is the second easiest risen after kushala) no room to breathe. I absolutely love it
My GOSH i love this monster! Mh4u is my favorite monster hunter game as well as the first I had played, and Shagaru had always been one of my favorite fights in the game. It's head has always felt so satisfying to hit with the hammer, and the scale of the fight is so epic! Risen Shagaru, turned it up 10 fold and the visuals are just spectacular! The fight is tense and makes the sheer power this monster exudes makes the fight feel nothing short of legendary. Also great display of an experienced hunters first encounter! Always pleased by your performances and love the extra insight you give in the descriptions! Keep up your awesome work!
I've come around on this hunt, I think. It rewards me using rolls between my charge levels to keep consistent pressure, it rewards knowing the combo strings and small gaps in them, and it rewards being patient. It's also wild how my recent farming of Shagaru in generations has made reading his explosion patterns easier. He's a good challenging fight. Love seeing you run against him, of course!!! My first run was nowhere near this clean, you really make this look easier than it is
Love this fight really, top 3 in sunbreak personally. Doesn’t help that shagaru himself was already my favourite monster in all the series so i was really happy to get a risen version of him. But good gravy, I recently gave the “hardcore” versions of risen vasltarax and shagaru a try and god THEY ARE ROUGH, especially shaggy. I doubt I’ve seen it all yet as i noticed that risen shaggy gets some extra combos as he gets to low health in his normal risen form but maaan he moves really quick and hits insanely hard too. Legitimately, even with all the shenanigans we have in sunbreak, I was struggling to keep up got my ass handed to me. Still an awesome fight tho, and hardest in the game no doubt.
Finally got to fight this Monster. When I unlocked it I had a shit set, wiped me in less then 5 minutes. Tried now with a decent set and after learning with each triple cart, i finally won. Great monster, it's amazing how you handeled it on first try
Thanks to your videos I can't put the hammer down(slowly becoming my most used) and I was able to beat both new monsters solo and without carting. Took around 12mins each but still, normally I wouldn't even try this lol. Idk how many times I've watched your in-depth hammer guide but it has definitely helped a ton so thank you!
Just picked-up this game about 3 weeks now and became sooo obsessed with using hammers after I felt so frustrated using dualblades. Recently I just watch your videos whenever I felt nervous fighting new large monsters and man, all I can say is I really, AS IN! REALLY learned a lot from your videos. From your masterful use of water strike parries, to making difficult, dancing with patience testing monsters, I'm really grateful with your videos. But this video shows that we are still human, Shagaru magala really is difficult to dealt with, I learned again where and when to strike this monster. Your videos makes this game a lot easier and enjoyable. Once again, thank you for the hammer run videos ❤️❤️
@@dynamo_lynn I think I already watched all of them and still replaying whenever I felt I missed something out. As of now, I'm trying to learn how to use courage + dereliction properly but I always get 1 hit-KOed because of dereliction dps, shows how much I still need to learn. Welp, I just came back to your videos of courage hammer whenever I felt helpless, it really helps a lot.
@@4care999 You need to combine Dereliction with Bloodlust in order to get an automatic self-heal periodically. If fighting Afflicted monsters, Intrepid Heart also helps a lot in purposely tanking an attack to be afflicted with Bloodblight and restore your health by attacking the monster.
@@dynamo_lynn ok ok, so bloodlust and intrepid heart. Noted Lynn Thanks! I tried compensating the dps by using super recovery dango and gourmet fish, but I need to keep eating gourmet fish from time to time to keep the buff, but when I forget it, that's when I get killed and realized I really can't play with dereliction. I'll try your suggestion asap, again, thanks!
@@dynamo_lynn OMG LYNN! I just finished my first Risen Shagaru Magala and it took all of the fibers of my being and my hatred to do it, it's sooo damn hard ಥ‿ಥ. Took me 3hrs of play time, repeated quest fails and 2 faints at the end. I watch this and the other videos as I clenched my fists, and grit my teeth with how satisfying you beat its ass. Again, thank you for this kind of videos, such blessing 🙏🙏
This fight made me wish for stun to not be cancelled by the topple happening when he gets out of his enraged/risen state. It can be really frustrating playing strength against him because of that. I've had plenty of stuns that felt "wasted" after fighting him a couple of times. The whole "staggering the monster with the first hit of brutal big bang" is already annoying enough... but hey I shouldn't complain, we got EV buffs on big bang combo lol.
I love how everyone was like "Rise/Sunbreak is easy" until Risen Valstrax and Shagaru entered the room lol. I think Rise+Sunbreak is my favourite monster hunter. It's so incredible.
I agree. I was on the fence originally with base Rise as to whether or not I'd even consider it in my top 5. Sunbreak put it in my top 3, and now with Title update 5 I think it might've actually just finessed first place for me.
Didn't play on the switch. Am on the xbox and we don't have this yet. Currently sitting comfortably above all monsters I can currently fight. It's been my fav monster hunter so far. I cannot wait for these fights to come in. I am more than ready.
I carted once to this thing because I couldn't tell whether or not my weapon was sheathed in the middle of that big ass pink nova, so I couldn't dive XD It was a 12 minute first run though. The aggression and more erratic frenzy patterns makes it feel more akin to Chaotic Gore than to Shaguru imo
Not sure if you've fought EX Shagaru yet, but all I can say is I'm VEEEEEEEEEERY excited for you to fight him. That fight... it's something else, but damn is it so cool.
Little jealous that you always somehow managed to avoid the ultimate at just the right time cause I got clapped like 3 times before finally figuring out away to get out.
Completely useless. I don't understand why it wasn't made a regular decoration, it would have helped Hammer tremendously as level 300 monsters and Special Investigation monsters have by far the highest stun resistance in the series.
Damn, this definitely looks tough. I struggle enough with the normal magalas, so I simultaneously do and don’t look forward to fighting this monster myself lol. How do you feel about the skills from the two new armor sets in this update?
Heaven-Sent seems completely useless especially with it being tied to the not very good Amatsu set. Risen Shagaru armor looks okay but I don't use weapons that would really benefit that much from having a fourth wirebug, even Longsword. I'll see what I can do with it though
So, what are yall thinking is the hardest hunt in sunbreak overall at the moment, minus special investigations literally zero people have gotten to without mods yet. Is it ristrax or this guy? They felt fairly similar to me, took 2 attempts each bc they both carted me twice the first attempt before I knew all their stuff and got me right before beating them on the last cart. The thought of either of them as a special investigation, esp ristrax, is absolutely disgusting btw.
It's basically only a competition between Valstrax and Shagaru tbh-- love the True Elder trio but they literally got nothing on Rocket Dragon and Mr. McDoubleFrenzied. And hot take, I think Shagaru's got it. Valstrax is stupid-fast and has the sonic boom and all, but also its anatomy is entirely based on having an intense respiratory system that intakes air rapidly to convert into Dragon Energy... and the Frenzy is an airborne virus. So Valstrax is basically a creature streamlined in favor of dying as fast as possible to Shagaru just, existing in his proximity, even before considering Shagaru also having a cracked moveset.
Shagaru easily, just like the other dude said about the virus and Valstrax breathing. Also Shagaru is one of the physically strongest Elders, it's pure muscle. It caught a Seregios which is a apex predator and one of the fastest wyverns out there MID AIR WITH NO EFFORT and dunked him. Valstrax would have no time to lift off and I can imagined Shagaru catching Val as soon as he tries to lift off the ground. Even if Valstrax could do the ambush attack, Shagaru is also one of the smartest monsters and would probably know what's coming and would be prepared for it, I wouldn't be surprised if it could catch the ambush attack as well or knock Val off with a frenzy beam.
