You know, on second thought, this is basically my school experience. We only talked about things when it was relevant to white people invading. When we talked about China, it was the opium wars. When it was Africa, it was the colonization of Africa. South America was completely ignored because the invasion I guess was too recent. This was basically my “world history” class.

Fun fact. Technically portugal was in south america for a couple of years. During the napoleonic wars, the portuguese royal family fled to brazil, and elevated its status from colony to united kingdom.
Rio de janeiro is also the only city that was an european capital outside of europe.

The funniest Norway meme I ever saw was a Swedish one that showed the borders on a map & implied that Norway is the dick of Scandinavia 😆 I can't remember the text on it exactly because I don't read Norse languages as much as I did like 10 years ago but it was pretty damn funny.

I took a geography class my freshman year in college, where I had to do these types of quizzes pretty much fucking daily, and I still didn't retain the information as well as Vaush has in two days. I'm beyond impressed.

I learned a lot about recent Geography by trying to spread revolution and Soviet World Domination in the game "Crisis in The Kremlin".
I still remember most of these from my high school geography class. We went continent by continent, learning a new one roughly every month, and got quizzed on them. All except two continents. Apparently the curriculum didn't think it was necessary to learn those two. One was Antarctica.

Genuinely gives me so much happiness to see someone dive into learning both of those maps.
The great thing is, because memories are stronger the more strands you pull in, to solidify their locations it’s best to tie it to a fact about each nation, and by weaving together just a handful of facts for each nation you can get a shockingly useful understanding of basic geopolitics quite quickly, enough to make a quick preliminary judgement when an event occurs anyway.

I was bored in biology class so i learned all the european countries, their flags and capitals, asian countries and their flags, african countries, north and south american countries and the states of usa. Still a ways to go but i'm still proud

I'm geuniely getting disturbed by how much alike we are. Sometimes when getting bored I would play Seterra so now I can place every major country (like 200+ish) on a world map in less than 10 mins.
