    Wow, that is quite the way to start the hike! Awesome! Pretty narrow logs to cross that water around the 3:45 mark! That village in the mountains were awesome! Are you guys fellow Canadians? I saw the flag on one of your packs! (And as I'm writing that you say you are),lol. Where are you from? Amazing view from the top! I also have a travel channel if you're interested in checking it out!

    Beautiful,hopefully you have a few thousand photos taken

      Yup, though newer the end, I realized that my camera had been shooting on medium low resolution. So sad.

      The Last Grownup in the Woods luckily you have filmed a lot in high definition,you can make snapshots of your film footage

      Ya, and the photos were fine for any personal use. If I wanted to blow one up for the wall, or sell it, they wouldn't be so good, but they are fine to look at on my computer.

    Do I need any kind of Government Pass to camp there?

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need to pay a park entrance fee for Hemis National Park, but you'll need to pay that whether you camp or homestay. It wasn't very much. Other than that, landowners might come to collect a camping fee as its mostly private land along the trail. We never got asked for money. We did have to pay in Nimaling, but it was less than if we'd stayed on one of their tents. If you want to camp, and you have your own gear, you'll save a bit of money.

    Great adventure Carley! I hate Blisters. Had them before on some adventures. But that definitely seemed worth the view!

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They got pretty bad. I didn't include pictures of the final results. Too gross and too embarrassing.

      I had one the size of my heel once (on my heels). had to treat it before trekking through the the jungle. So hear you

    Another great installment Carley. #blisterssuck . There sure is a lot of asses in India. The samba or sampa or whatever looked like hummus. Ground barley doesn't sound very appetizing.

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely wasn't. I'd had it a few times on a former trip to Nepal and liked it, but I guess they knew how to prepare it.

    Great video capture of a great adventure! My favorite part of this installment - the baby donkey and the sound of the stream!

      At the end of the trip, my husband asked what the highlight was. The first thing that came to mind was the donkeys and goats. I think he thought it was a pretty strange thing to say.

    Great video. What was the day and night temperature? What resources did you use for planning?

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was around the mid 30s (celsius) in the day at the lower elevations. Our coldest night temperature was at Nimiling and probably around 5-10 degrees. We used the book "Trekking in Ladakh" by Radel Kucharski. It's been updated for 2016, so it was pretty good. We had a paper map of trekking routes in Ladakh, but we also downloaded some trekking maps onto our GPS. They were expensive, but pretty helpful, and they had a lot of other Himalayan treks on them too. The link is www.himalayangpsmaps.com/?language=en

      @meh4164 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info. At that altitude, I thought it would be colder and never thought of 30 deg C.
      Happy trails :)

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was definitely warmer than we expected. I'm sure it could have gotten colder at Nimiling though.

    I know I've said it before during this series but WHAT A GREAT ADVENTURE. Wow, y'all are really killing it. I was a little envious until y'all showed the sampa. Not sure I could hang with that stuff. Hahaha I bet by the time Clay took his backpack off, he was ready to roll around on the ground too ! 😆 Wonderful and thank you for sharing.

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha. We ended up with a big bag of it too because we didn't know how to ask for less. I ended up giving it to a begging woman, and it was one of the best interactions I had with anyone in India, so at least the Tsampa brought someone joy.

    It's too bad about the hotspots on your feet, because blisters are not fun at all. This definitely looks like it was a very challenging hike for sure but the scenery was absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing my friend.

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, they ended up getting pretty bad. My feet were just so darn hot. I guess that's what happens when you put a Canadian in a hot climate :D

  • @WyeExplorer
    @WyeExplorer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Shame about your feet Carley but somewhat of a relief with the down poor. A challenging hike mind, which no doubt had its divine moments - I mean I liked the green enclaves you passed through. 17,000 feet - good going. That downhill looked liked a mood picker upper - awesome canyon along the way. Well good on you both. Very enjoyable. Mark

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The canyon was awesome, but by the end I was pretty darn tired. I didn't even include a photo of my feet at the end because I was a little embarrassed by how bad they got.

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like your feet took a battering. That canyon though..as you say the camera probably never gave it real justice....top adventure.

    Thanks for the shoutout Carley :) And wow thats a hardcore adventure you have here. Loving the alpine, lizard, donkey, and water hazard shots. I'm glad you were able to benefit from the self support. Perhaps a trip to southern Utah would change your mind about the desert?

    • @Nerding4Nature
      @Nerding4Nature  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps, though I'm sure I would melt regardless of the desert, lol. I'd love to visit Utah.
