A few things 1) This DOES NOT imply that KH4 is the Final Game, it implies it is the beginning of the end 2) Tai Yasue is fantastic, but he simply does not have the impact on KH that Nomura does 3) The Retirement age in Japan is 60, and Nomura is 53.
That's good he's planning his retirement. I just hope the KH series is finished with all questions answered and also I wish to see his Verum Rex/FF Versus XIII vision come to fruition
Not to mention hopefully all the Disney classic movies get made into worlds for Kingdom Hearts. We still haven’t gotten worlds for Robin Hood, Atlantis, Dinosaur, and Pocahontas.
@@chuumon95 I get the feeling, I would love a proper Treasure Planet world myself, but if they stay restricted like the KH3 worlds it will just be wasted potential. As they are more niche, we can at least hope Disney doesn't force a Frozen treatment.
This gets me so worried about the future of Kingdom Hearts because I don’t want the series to get destroyed like how Kathleen Kennedy did with Star Wars. I think Nomura should retire right after the Lost Master Arc is over.
But I win when he retires because that will mark the end of kingdom hearts and it will prove to Disney that they can think that they “own kingdom hearts” but without nomura it wouldn’t be where it is. I wanted square Enix to cut it ties with Disney and since nomura was also the key that connected him to them since he’s gonna retire it would also means that he won’t have to worry about getting his hands dirty and I believe that he’s also happy with this decision because that was what I prayed for
Ok so 1 I would also like kh to finish with Nomura however this is a Japanese studio if someone DID take over it would be someone that Nomura trust at square it wouldn't be a Star Wars situation
That kingdom hearts interview just made me so sad but also looking forward to kingdom hearts 4 so much and the future of the series. Knowing that Nomura is close to retirement makes me rly upset since he’s one of my favorite director/writers, but he deserves it so much! Also, for me personally I would be fine with the series retiring/ending with Nomura. But if they do choose to continue the series after Nomura retires, I’m okay with that too but it won’t hit the same without him.
I'd like to see him wrap up his life's work first. Bringing Kingdom Hearts to its planned conclusion with the planned number of titles and proper pacing, making Versus 13 a reality, and putting a bow on FF7R. After that, let the man rest because he'll have more than earned it.
True but we still don't know who the masters of masters is who luxu is or who the foretellers is there has to be another game regarding these characters and there story how will nomura reveal all of these characters identity and there past in one game won't it feel like there arcs have been rushed it can't end at kh4 I want atleast a few more dlcs and a kh5 and what about yozoras story we still don't know much about him would love to see a game about him too
I grew up as an artist and writer. I loved art as early as 12 years old with Nomura and Ashitaka Amano as one of my influences so regardless of the shortcomings Nomura might have took with kh, I'll always be grateful to him for delivering one of the most iconic characters and worlds into mine.
I am sad and very worried about Tetsuya Nomura, I hope kingdom hearts will continue on with more video games. Books with new Disney characters in the new worlds, especially Disney cars which is my favourite movie. I am a huge fan of kingdom hearts 😟🥺
I agree I want to see "A Bugs Life " and the Incredible and Get the Lion King 2 in the next Kingdom Hearts game, but hearing that he's retiring makes you just feel like woah 😮
I'm not ready for KH to be over. I'm only alive today because of this franchise... But maybe by the time this saga ends I will be. You make some really good points I didn't consider. One of the reasons everyone loves Gravity Falls so much is because Alex Hirsch stuck to his guns and didn't extend it past what he'd planned. Even The Book of Bill that came out recently was something he wanted to do back when the series released. And I'm confident if Gravity Falls ever comes back it'll be because he has a story to tell and not because the fan base begged him. I do want KH to have that same legacy, but it's hard to let go of something so important to you... And I'm not ready. I'm glad I don't have to be but I'm scared that that time is closing in... Sora better turn 18 before the series ends lol. I was younger than him when I started playing and I wasn't even there from the start. Now I'm almost thirty and it physically hurts being so much older than the boy I wanted to be growing up. Doesn't help that I failed to be anything like him >>... Maybe one day ;w; I'm not that old right?... Right? Please don't answer that... T-T
I replayed kingdom hearts 1 final mix earlier this year. Halfway through rechain of memories but I’ve been caught up with a few other things so I’ll go back to it eventually. Can’t wait to get back into kingdom hearts 2 final mix soon as well!
Worst Case Nomura: I think I'll retire soon. There's a bunch of other capable people who can carry the torch for me. Kratos: No. Finish what you started.
This makes sense, the lost master arc feels like the conclusion. Xehanort was the threat of our current time. MoM is tied or is the threat since the worlds came to be.
Alright. But... We've never got Versus 13, and that's his biggest failure as a director. There a lot of circumstances for not getting the game, but still, he's at least a little bit responsible. He teased Verum Rex/versus, he chose to make KH4 but still he doesn't make the game that some wanted for so long? Come on man, at least, achieve this. Achieve the end of KH4, FF7 remake trilogy, and giving us what he made us dream once. And then, he can retire with no regret. Of course, I talk as a frustrated consumer. But I guess he might be telling himself he could regret it. Can't get over it.
Technically yes it wasn't his fault, but still involved. I still want him to show what his XV should have been and then he could retire with no regrets.
I can understand the sadness that comes from the eventual retirement. However, I think a lot of knew the Lost Master arc wasn’t going to be as long as Dark Seeker. Otherwise Nomura would be in his 80’s by the time that it finishes. Plus where do you go after exploring the realm of Non-fiction/not reality? Right now, I think Nomura biggest priorities are: 1. Finish FF7 Remake, 2. Finish the Lost Master Arc and 3. Somehow fulfill his vision of Versus XIII whenever that’s a Verum Game or another KH game. Once he gets those tasks done, then I think he will probably retire.
My question exactly The MOM can't reveal himself in kh4 I feel like that would be too early nomura should do atleast another game kh5 and then reveal the masters of master and all the foretellers and as well as luxus identity and there past too
I've grown up with KH. It was the first video game series I really got into. Nomura deserves to retire and rest, but I trust he will leave us on a good note.
I'd rather it end before he dies. There's nothing worse than a creator not getting to finish their work and somebody else trying to do that and it just not being what it could have been. Not that I think he'll die anytime soon but he's getting closer to retirement age and unexpected things happen.
The Dragon ball lost it’s Creator and Visionary yet continues to thrive there are examples of it happening Nomura needs to train a successor like Akira Toriyama did with Toyotaru
I really hope he at least finishes kingdom hearts 4 and missing link I mean as sad as it is that he wants to retire but he’s been doing this for so long that he deserves to retire
I am definitely ready to see KH end, which it will once he retires. Whatever games come after his retirement that are called "Kingdom Hearts" are not Kingdom Hearts games, just like how Disney's Star Wars is not Star Wars.
I'm kind of hoping that the kingdom hearts franchise ends at 5 or 6. I don't want to it to be dragged out so long that I'm playing kingdom hearts 9 on the ps15 in the nursing home lol.
I think his work in 7Remake series and KH are enough to justify not doing his own mainline game. Let a younger generation take the helm with fresh ideas.
Once the kingdom hearts franchise and final fantasy 7 remake trilogy ends, I don't think I'll buy any new video games. None of which can compare to those franchises. Maybe new final fantasy remakes of older games but I don't want to buy a ps6 or beyond for those.
Well, he better slam dunk KH4 if he does it or else not bother imo. KH3 was such a letdown after so long I've lost hype for future games. KHuX was also a bit too P2W and disappointing that I'd rather just play the originals up to DDD.

7 years before his retirement? 😳
Even this is carefully calculated damn.
Wow, that's hard news!!!
He was so loyal to Square and never got to tell his greatest story (Versus XIII). That was his Dream Project.
I'm just glad he's not leaving before the completion of FFVII REMAKE Part 3 😅
Agreed! It’s doesn’t matter how badly final fantasy 7 rebirth flopped, part 3 still has to happen regardless!
That's good he's planning his retirement. I just hope the KH series is finished with all questions answered and also I wish to see his Verum Rex/FF Versus XIII vision come to fruition

OMG!!!! Thanks so much for this. Sadly no brand new important info about when exactly missing link, but we’ll take it
It makes sense for the series to end on the Lost Master Arc. Which future villain can be stronger than the Master of Freaking Masters

I'm just as excited for KH 4 as i am worried that it will lose the feeling and charm of the previous games. Though Nomura usually comes through.
this is so sad Tetsuya Nomura is most important dev in my heart
I'm relieved as well that the series will end and not keep going forever.
I’m not. Man… I thought he said he had up to several games planned
