Man you got some haters for just trying to help people survive! We just had this system installed at Hilton head AIM rally 10/24. Chuck and Cory himself was there. It’s expensive but I want us to have a fighting chance to get out if need be. Thanks for video.
I just recently installed on my 2020 Tiffin 40IP AB and it is not cheap, but something that gives you a peace of mind, especially if you use your generator continuously for 24 hours for a several days like we do 7+ times year for football tailgating weekends. Also if you leave pets alone for several hours it gives you comfort One thing to mention the product only has a 4 year warranty. You may have to replace after 4 years and would be another big expense.
Wow, a really great video on a valuable product Izzy! Thinking of the fire that Andrew Steele experienced in his Newell coach, a fire suppression system such as Proteng could really be an essential system! You may have mere seconds to get out of an RV that catches fire, having the extra time could really be a life saver!
We talked to these folks at the Tampa show and we are very interested in getting these installed. Like you said Izzy, you cant put a price on safety. Thank you for sharing and for the discount code, we may have to take advantage of that! Safe travels!
I'd ad some red or yellow tags that say DO NOT CUT -- FIRE SUPRESSION HOSE. Because some tech might mistake it for a drain line or water hose and cut it for access. Or simply from carelessness.
Thank you Izzy and MJ for this video. Glad they have this device to help with when and is you have a fire in your Rv to help you get out quicker. The only one I know if is Andrew with his fire. I hope he’s doing ok now. It’s sad that happened to him. I wish I could have or been to help him. Thank you again Izzy and MJ for this video. Hope Nelli is back up and running.
Great ideal I can tell you that little fire extinguisher that comes with most of these motorhome is a joke if you think it is going to put out a fire of any size. Thanks so much for the information I will be checking on this.
I saw a video of what happens inside a rv in a accident. All the interior going flying forward during a serious accident in the front. I've also seen a accident were the one piece sidewalls detach from the base in a accident. That's why bus conversations are the safest rvs, because they are essentially a steel cage.
Great advice but many of these units are also electrical fires waiting to happen. Cant believe there isn't a building code rule while putting these units together. My hot water tank sets right next to my electric panel. SMH
went to an RV dealership in northern Illinois to look at some vehicles. While on the grounds looking saw a newly received RV trade in go up in smoke due to a refrigerator malfunction.
Please do your research before purchasing this product. A great resource is the NFPA on deploying a FM200 system. For example, in this video a unit is installed above the propane tank. The tank is vented, not in an enclosed space. This protection will go off, extinguish the fire but does nothing for the heat. The FM200 gas will dissipate and the fire will likely restart. I could not find one study or standard where this was effective on RV’s. This was designed for race cars, to delay a fire so a trained safety crew could respond. The NFPA has a report on RV fires from 2020. This type of protection in not mentioned in the report and they are the experts in fire protection
The point of the Proteng is to buy you time to get out of the vehicle. It is installed in common places where fires are likely to start. It’s another layer of protection not a 1 stop solution. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@EndlessRVing the problem is there is no proof it does provide any real protection or buy any time. The claims are not supported by any third party. Based on how FM200 works it’s useless in engine, generator, battery and propane bays as they are vented. Inside the RV example, this product needs a fire to activate. Most of the time a smoke detector will go off in the smoldering phase providing notification well before this activates. A product such as this provides a false sense of security/safety, possibly making the situation worse. RVers would be better off practicing how to shut ac power off, battery, inverter and propane quickly. Have they actually practiced and used a fire extinguisher? Do they test their smoke and CO detectors monthly? In fire protection, there are engineers, trained installers, 3rd party test labs and certification. None of this exists for this product. Go back and ask them to provide with the name of the engineer who wrote the installation instructions for an RV? What is their background and certifications. The person who reviewed your RV and made the recommendations where to install it, what is their training and certification? What about the tech who installed it?
@@eddiedoherty2349 The only "good" thing about the Proteng tubes is they can be fitted with depressurization sensors, tied to a warning system. So as long as they vent, regardless of suppression, you can be warned. That said, a regular thermal trigger would accomplish the exact same purpose for 1/25th the cost. I've gone round and round with people on IRV2 about this product and nobody actually cares about the suppressive properties. You'd do just as well plumbing an automatic water sprayer into compartments where there might be a fire... but no, the instantly vented gas system is somehow better.
Good concept but WAY over priced. I saw where you could buy 468 Lbs of FM200 for $2,000. So what justifies what you folks charge for this product. Also FM200 is being phased down being a CFC.
@@EndlessRVing How about being realistic? A sealed tube with an amount of relatively inexpensive fluid zip tied into places in the RV. Not too difficult to calculate the volume of a protected area and adjust the length of tube and amount of FM200 required. I've seen estimates of $3K to $4K for an RV. They even advertise how easy it is to install? You have GOT to be kidding if you think the numbers add up.
@@EndlessRVingNot even a USA product. Designed and patented first over 10 years ago in Slovakia. Only a 4 year warranty. Their own ads brag about ease of installation which is 2 hours of labor at $199.00/hr. Shall I continue?

Thanks for the comment!!
Amazing video, thank you!!!
Fascinating.
What a great device and peace of mind ❤
Thanks for watching. :)
Paris Hilton Rv had a fire I posted y’all video in her comments! Surprised she didn’t have protang

Wow! Didn’t know about this. Thanks!
Awesome video !! Love the system. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks guys
Great video. I guess there is no alarm associated with the activation of the tube?
Were you just in Manassas, VA?
Yes we were in Manassas

Good stuff
Now that’s a great product that I wouldn’t want to be without! I’ve seen one is too many coaches burned up on the side of the road.

This is just another layer of protection. We carry 5 fire extinguishers on our RV. The more the better

RV Fire protection is a great topic. I had a truck catch fire from transmission fluid leaking onto hot exhaust pipes. That’s not an enclosed volume.

Why not just put my propane tank above my stove.😀
Very cool, had no idea it even existed. Is this something that can be purchased and installed by the general public?

Much more common than you would think.

Interesting product. Any extra fire protection is comforting. Thanks guys!…Lisa

Did you get it installed anywhere inside the motorhome?
Yes (furnace & breaker box)
@@EndlessRVing thank you. We will get this on our full time rig along with retroband
Is this only available at the NRVT? I don’t think we have one of these anywhere near us.

Yes they are only a available at NIRVC. They may do installs at rally’s also. Just reach out to them.
Pootie Tang, oh proteng . Never mind I got it wrong 😊
I must have missed something why y’all putting more money into this Motorhome if y’all just bought a new one.

Water is much less costly.
