it really depends. i currenlty use the katadyn BeFree water filter and have had no issues camping around Ontario Canada. I would google whatever spot you're going and see if it safe. Generally, big lakes are safe, for smaller streams, the higher up the source the better.
@@WillFaulkner but campground water are safe if boiled? for drinking? thanks for the reply. I personally enjoy solo camping as well as to not have and/or care to have any responsibilties. To do or not do anything at my pace, for me that is the best way to relax.
