This video sets the gold standard for clarity, brevity, pace and "to the point." All I need to do now is find a replacement part. You have saved me several hours of trying to figure this out on my own.
Oh man, I really appreciate that this video exists. I've been staring at my busted taillight for months because it seemed so intimidating, but this looks super simple!
I have a back light cover assembly with a migrating crack that I have been 'fixing' using super glue down the crack hoping that it won't break in half while I still have the car (2000 Subaru Legacy Wagon). I know exactly how that light bulb and bulb assembly got so bad and that is because of water leaking into the light fixture area from a poorly sealed assembly (or in your case that busted out piece of plastic). Now that I know how to remove the entire assembly, I may just go and replace the missing or damaged seals with new material to stop the leaks, but a good idea when replacing any bulb in your car is to dab a little dielectric grease on both the bulb and inside the bulb holder. It's a cheap and effective way to protect the electrical connection from moisture and rust and makes replacing a bulb so much easier.
Very useful video with clear explanation easy to follow, thank you. Took about an hour and a half, including putting away my tools afterwards. Only problem is that the (well) used replacement cracked in the same place within 3 days, so now I'm having to bite the bullet and fit a new replacement (a lot more than $500 AUD, but I don't like a wet trunk). Strangely the crack opens when cold and closes when hot, perhaps I should have fitted the replacement on a cold day!
Thanks for putting this up. I couldn't believe that there would be a clip on YT. I'm comfortable doing my own maintenance but geez it's good to have a video to follow!
well, same thing, down to the bulb in the same condition, socket rusted. I got the taillamp from one in better shape and free extra bulbs :) The center seems just cosmetic, previous owner backed into the hatch..

Thank you, you made the process to pick and pull so much faster and with confidence.
Thanks so much! Very confused by any thumbs down. This video made it incredibly easy to replace the rear light panel on the outback.
Bravo thanks for that well laid out instruction video keep up the good work my friend

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
Dude, you rock!
Very helpful, thank you.
Does the center piece light up as well? Or is it just decoration?
excelente saludos desde chile
thanks for this great video!! where can I get this tail plate replacement? for my subaru?
I would start by checking local junk yards, car-part.com is a good website for that, another option is ebay - plenty of used stuff on there
Self taught fixing cars or schooling
I just picked up the sedan version. Does the Subaru name light up? Or just for looks
I dont believe so (it's been a while). That would be cool though, if it did
No it does not light up, just for looks
Unfortunately no. Replaced mine a while ago due to hole on it that was covered by a sticker
What’s the name of that piece??
Center tail light assembly, or tailgate mounted light assembly
@@MakeItEasyMechanic thank you !!
Quien vende estos focos traseros???
local junk yards (car-part.com), ebay
Doesn't look difficult at all. I went to order the assembly from the local Subaru dealership, they wanted 500 Dollars.
Please where can I buy centre tail light for Subaru 04 model
Try junk yards in your local area. If you live in the US car-part.com is a good website. Also ebay has used parts sometimes
