- U.S.-based restaurant chain Red Lobster has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a Florida court after securing US$100 million in financing commitments from its existing lenders, the company said on Sunday. Red Lobster said its restaurants will be open and operate as usual during the bankruptcy proceedings, and plans to reduce its locations as well as pursue a sale of substantially all its assets. #RedLobster #restaurant #food #US #bankruptcy #business
Lets be clear, while they want you to believe that their generousity caused the problems (all you can eat shrimp) it was actually their high prices and low standards that hurt them. For a main dish and a coffee it costs $60 per person in Canada and for the last year or so they no longer include a salad, which is now offered for an additional $6. That means after one person spends $60 plus on a meal they can still leave hungry. So why would I ever go back to Red Lobster when I can have two good meals somewhere else for the same price? They priced themselves out of the market.
No way! That’s shocking. I used to live in AB and went to RL all the time because the food was good, service was good and the price was reasonable. I moved to BC from AB 10 years ago - BC doesn’t have RL - so it’s been that long since I’ve been in a RL and am shocked to hear my favorite restaurant is now expensive!
@@fluffytail6355 What used to be a family style restaurant has turned into one that most families can't afford to eat at. I don't even like shrimp so I think it's a supply problem, not the demand. They could have ended the shrimp offer anytime but didn't.
Over priced and pre made food
They’ve been going down hill since about a decade ago.
Not surprising considering their prices! I can eat at a fine steakhouse for less than what these guys charge for garlic shrimp!
Well that's interesting because it was the all you can eat shrimp deal that sunk them
Well this is the 2nd time this happened in Canada.. about 30 yrs ago it happened.. costs are horribly high then too
I cannot eat at this restaurant. I find it way to salty. I’ve tried 2 times.
r. i. p.
Service has been so bad last year and prices to high for what you get we started going to different seafood places food better and fresher
Over priced...WAY too much sodium..Too much Msg..Food is pre packaged and pre made..😢
Exactly the point I made
"Operate as usual" there's part of the problem right there. They need to go back to how they made food in 70's, 80's, and 90's.
Being the budget seafood place was always their selling point, now they are on par and in some cases higher with the same mediocre food, not surprised in the least.
How did they go broke it was the most expensive place around...
I ate there once in the mid 90's and afterwards always wondered what the hype was about. Frozen pre battered pre cooked and microwaved crap for a medium price. Redlobster is the mcdonalds of seafood. I also think what a shame because the menu wasn't bad if it were actually cooked to order. What a waste of a good opportunity
Yess ! Thank you.
They need to up the food quality and prices to match. If I could run red lobster I would make it very high priced but have the highest quality seafood and steaks proteins like ocean prime . Peoples cars are also important status symbols so I would have a valet and make people feel special by parking the model S Tesla in front of the restaurant.
I go to Chinese Food Buffets for my all you can eat seafood. It's cheaper.
If you like MSG you’ll love Red Lobster.
MSG is the king of flavor
Thats too bad.
