Just curious why you chose the powervac over the hammerhead battery operated pool vacuum. I haven't tried either of them but have considered buying one, any experiences appreciated.
I deal with a lot of manufacturers and my deciding factor is actually an initial phone call. When I called HammerHead I got their sales rep - fast talking and blew me off pretty quickly. When I called Power Vac to talk about the product they patched me trough to the owner Darrel and he couldn't stop talking about how great the Power Vac was. I got a better overall feeling about the Power Vac - first impressions matter. I think it is a matter of opinion really on which is better. The Power Vac bags are finer and easier to remove. As far as durability and reliability both rank high. The Power Vac has swivel wheels and a larger cleaning path from my comparison of the two. I think either would be a good choice.
Thanks for the insight, nothing is better than calling a company for support to get the low down on how you'll be treated. We were going to buy a hammerhead from our wholesaler last year but they were backordered, I really never heard of the power vac but it seems like the same basic idea with a trolling motor type of suction all self contained and it runs off a car battery. Seems you're happy with the power vac so we'll probably invest in the same unit.
Hello. Where in California do you shop for consumables so that the price is lower? Another question is what chlorine should I use for swimming pools that is less expensive and the quality is not bad?

HI David, are you located in Arizona by chance? I have an issue with mineral deposits, at least that's what I was told. Briefly: several months ago, I shocked my pool, (white plaster), my pump died, had it replaced about a week later. After I ran my pump and the water cleared, I noticed a light tan spread out type of stain. I used stain and scale remover, no luck. Any suggestions? BTW... Huge fan of your tutorial videos! My concern with the automatic pool vacuums is that if my customer has one of those they might not feel the need to have me (or anyone for that matter) as a pool guy anymore because the vacuum is pretty much keeping the pool spotless. Feel like it eliminates the need for a pool guy. What’s your opinion on that?

some great tips even a first time pool owner like me can make use of .... just the other day I walked out to my pool and found a pair of ducks making themselves quite at home so I love the idea of the large inflatable toys .. LoL
I bought a house with a green pool. I got it drained, cleaned and refilled and then realized the previous owner filled the main drain with cement. I can't afford to fix the main drain but the skimmer works and I never have any surface debris. What I do have is a collection of sand and dirt at the bottom of the pool which never gets picked up. Our pool guy comes and is there for less than 5 minutes and all it looks like is that he scrubs the sides and bottom and then the pool looks cloudy until the sand settles again. I purchased the best pool vacuum I could find for $600 and it takes about an hour for me to get any suction out of it. There's bubbles in the line and ugh its too difficult. I was searching and found your video and I am hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction. Do they make pool vacuums that do not need to be connected to your pool pump? I saw the pool blaster tool and it looks like what I need but I do not want it to run off my pool pump. I watched a video that says that you can get a 1 hp pump and use it as a portable pump, but all the water drains off into your yard and you have to replenish the water. I can't afford to do that either. Any suggestions????
It sounds like you have a problem with the suction line also. That is why the pool guy cant manually vacuum the pool. For best results I suggest returning the $600 vacuum and investing in a robotic pool cleaner like the Aquabot Breeze SE or the Hayward Shark Vac. Both are low end models that clean very well. It would be cheaper to go this route than to fix the suction line at this point. That could turn out to be a complete replumbing job.

I recently opened my 33 x 18 above ground pool for the summer. I had the sand filter turned on and the skimmer was taking in water and it was going through the pool circulating everything was normal. The 3 rd time this happened I went top the pump shut it off and stuck my hand in the pump to see if it was blocked and i pulled hand fulls of sand out of the pump?. After i cleaned the sand i got everything closed up i opened the water and the pump was trying to move but couldn't i guess it still had sand in it so i shut it off right away. (1.) I wanted to know what i have done wrong to get sand go back into the pump and (2). how to fix it. It's possible that it is just sediment from the pool - it is always better to vacuum with a canister attached. I don't think the sand from the filter can back up into the pump - at least I have never seen it happen. But if you are vacuuming up a lot of dirt and sediment, it is heavy and can clog the pump impeller as it flows through the holes in the pump basket.
Very strange. Haven't seen that. I know in DE filters if air gets in the filter when the filter turns off D.E. will be pushed back down into the pump by the air. But the sand in pretty heavy and shouldn't do that.
I actually removed a bunch of keys because my mechanic suggested I had too many years back. I currently have 12 keys and most of them are small pad lock keys. But yes, that can be an issue.

I really like the MX6. I have two customers who have these and they're work horses. I've never had either of them get clogged or stop operating because of debris. When my old Kreepy Krauly stops working (going on 10 years!), I will replace it with an MX6.
I have a customer that has two ducks come to her pool each march for a good two to three months, she loves it "their so cute to watch daily" what a mess!! both deck and pool, and of course the gardeners blow all the "droppings" on the deck into the pool...
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To Yard Maintenance crews continually blow leaves, debris, and dirt into a couple of my pools after I finish them. Sometime less than an hour later. I even checked back on a couple after they left to prove my theory. I've tried to reschedule these pools for different days to no avail. How do you handle this situation?
I tell the owner that the gardener is being sloppy and messing up the pool after I clean it. Usually they will talk to the Gardener and they will be more careful. Sometimes not. Then I inform the owner that they need to purchase some type of automatic cleaner to help with the mess created by the gardener after I service the pool. Usually they are willing and I drop in a Hayward PoolCleaner or Polaris 360 and the problem is solved. I have even installed a PoolSkim at one account where the gardener just trashes the pool each week. Confronting the gardener does not work in my opinion. They just ignore us pool guys. One guy in Florida posted signs informing the Gardener that the pool is not a giant trash can "Piscina no es una basura" but I think direct confrontation just makes them leave the pool messier. Most of the gardeners on my route are now my friends and I send them referrals and they are careful around the pool. Some I never meet and can still be messy. But the owner should confront them since it affects their pool directly. It is a real battle.
MrDboydeluxe try hanging bird reflectors or old cds around the pool, it has worked for us at several comercial accounts, farmer's also use them out in their feilds too.
How do you go about selling your customers automatic cleaners? It seems like it might be a hard thing to sell since it makes the job easier? Do you offer it to them for your cost?
I tell them that their pools will look better all week long and then I drop a demo cleaner in and let it run for a week or two. They usually buy one after that. With the pool looking cleaner each week I can focus on chemistry, the tiles and making it look 100% every week. I sell them at cost and the parts at cost with no labor to fix them.
I have my customers put their dogs away for liability reasons. I've been nipped 8 times in my life by dogs that, "Don't bite", or if the dog gets stepped on or chemicals, its weird the dogs seems to lick the net and tool box😝. I dont do dogs or kids.
Tmobile Sucks I the shit bit out of my leg one time out of nowhere buy a dog that I've clean their pool for years. And one day I was leaving the pool walked out of gate and then I look over and see the Australian Shepherd bolting towards me and just latched onto my leg for no reason at all, it had never been vicious towards me before other than nipping at my net when I walk to and from the pool. It left a nasty bruise that was every color of the rainbow.
Crush some vitamin C tablets and put them in a sock. Set the sock on the stain and it will lift the stain. Ascorbic Acid - They also sell it already in powder form online.

Pool route.
👍
Wait is it cool route, or pool route....
Do the owners get upset when you give their dogs a treat without their permission?
Not that I am aware of.
Sometimes why is there usually two pool pumps on the system
One is usually a water feature or spa booster pump. Not uncommon like you say.
Oh ok thanks
I have a customer that has two ducks come to her pool each march for a good two to three months, she loves it "their so cute to watch daily" what a mess!! both deck and pool, and of course the gardeners blow all the "droppings" on the deck into the pool...
Everyone has that one crazy customer ;). Get her an alligator float for Christmas ;).
MrDboydeluxe try hanging bird reflectors or old cds around the pool, it has worked for us at several comercial accounts, farmer's also use them out in their feilds too.
thanks for the info.
Where are you located?
I service Pasadena Ca.
I just emailed you did you receive it?
Yes, send pictures.
Las Vegas. NV
Filter sock = nylon stocking same result and cheaper!!
Also having good customers is a good gave all the bad pools to the new guys :)
Yes, get rid of the stinker accounts. Once had a pool guy with Leaf Master in his hand asking if I wanted an account for free... no thanks buddy ;).

Do customers ever complain about dumping Debris in their yard ?
Once in a great while. I have a handful of customers accounts where I walk out to the trash cans with the leaves. But generally no.
Car Keys? Just put a sock over your wrist and you will see it when you get in your truck :)
Poolman: How do I handle a stain on a fiberglass pool.
Crush some vitamin C tablets and put them in a sock. Set the sock on the stain and it will lift the stain. Ascorbic Acid - They also sell it already in powder form online.
Thank you pool man. Your video's are an education to us all.
