Great podcast as always and a thought-provoking one. As a female festival goer, I have to say that personally I don't look for festivals that have female-fronted bands. At the end of the day I'm there for the music, and it so happens that all the bands I like are male-fronted with a handful of exceptions.
Fucking hell, 8minutes in and that whole Kirsties Metal Hands rant finished me 😂😂😂

I think a lot of people forget that when booking artists it's not just a vending machine where you decide oh I'll have 1 bob vylan, 1 Biffy, 1 nova twins etc.
Bands might not be able to play, prices differ etc

Guys, Vicky from Bloodstock was hung drawn and quartered throughout the nation a couple of years ago. Fast forward to now … Bloodstock weekend tickets are 75% sold out for next year already with around 11 months to go. Don’t sweat the gender stuff. Rock music is male dominated. That’s a fact. There are numerous bands out there with female members yes. Will they all be available when it comes to booking and even if they are would they be able to play ?. … and if so will they sell enough tickets to help pay the mortgage. There lies the rub.
Yeah - because not only she, but the whole office at Bloodstock HQ took themselves to various courses and talks to understand the situation better and learn about why she was wrong to speak the way she did in the first place. It didn't just go away - they put the work in to make sure that everyone who comes to bloodstock will be taken seriously. There's now a whole separate LGBTQ bloodstock FB group. Adam spoke on various podcasts and was very clear about how much they respect the customers who had been hurt by the comments and how they were changing and improving things going forward. They very clearly understand that their customer base is always going to be young, always going to be very accepting, and so they need to be as well.
@@elkippy nah mate. They just upped their business/ marketing strategy to sell tickets to a certain section of their audience. Worked like a treat too.
@@chrislambethpie5896 You can be cynical about it if you like but they've changed how they address these things & are proactively more inclusive. Whether they're doing that for personal or business reasons is irrelevant - the facts speak for themselves.
Adrenaline is still possibly my favourite of Deftones.

More of a Dopes to Infinity fan but Powertrip is also cracking too. Saw Monster Magnet in Koko back in 2011 playing D2I in full, glad to see that venue has reopened but haven't been in recent years.
