Every time I marvel at the shape of your boat….laying such a heavy weave of wet fiberglass on such a curved surface, unbelievable!! OMG, I don’t know how you do it and make it look easy, what the hell? Warriors, that’s what you are, full blown warriors!!!
Ah thanks Nena! Your always been such an amazing supporter of our channel over that past year and absolutely love it!! Hope you will stick around for another action pack year. Cheers!
Excellent work and congratulations for all the hard work and progress you've made this year. Hope you have a a bit of a break before you start work next year.
that is a lot of work, i have to hand it to you for getting up every day and getting back on it, then put out a video every week. looking good. Happy new year. 😎💚💙👍👍🍺🍺🍻🥂
Love this channel. Love the vibes. The project. The people. The dog. Ducks. Quirks. Happy new year from Copenhagen. Thanks for sharing. You guys deserves a million subscribers. May 2025 bring that.
Great video. All the best for the new year. I really enjoy your channel and the quirky involvement of chickens, ducks and dogs in a boat build. Who knew :)
I had wondered about Iefkes hair with all that epoxy, now i know the secret. But who knew it could be so stylish?:) Hope you both had a wonderful Christmas.
I recommend respirators. My liver cratered a few years ago. It was being attacked by my immune system, but was being mostly managed; however, it really cratered after working with lots of epoxy and finishes.
Love watching your progress. Also doting on Tarkine's stem profile...so evocative, "and you must tell me how your head feels under something like that, under your brand new leopardskin pillbox hat" bob dylan
Hi,I thoroughly enjoyed your video and watching your wetting out style on the table i would imagine that you are dab hands at cleaning and sqeegeeing windows 😀.Have a happy, healthy and successful new year.Cheers,Roly🇬🇧
Looks great guys!! Might want to try rolling up the glass on a cardboard or PVC tube it’s much faster to roll up and unroll and easier to hold onto and can be reused. By the time you get really good at it you will done, such is boat building
Jullie ook de beste wensen! Boat looks amazing. Don't know why you would call that sternpost job 'ugly'. It's great, nothing wrong with it. By the way, I was wondering (worried) what all the big light spots are on the hull. Hope you're not trapping any air bubbles. Please explain. Love from Amsterdam NL.
Nice work you two' Awesome to have a feathering prop and I understand the expense concern while in the middle of building a boat 🤪 worth it though hey. Happy new year 🎉
People tell you how to do it, yes glassing be easier on upside down hull, but then you need to turn it around. Don't second ques yourself. What you do is correct for you. There is hundred ways to build a boat. Do it your way, it will work.
Nice one.. That propeller, nice score. Hope your're going to lap it in to the new shaft and not just mount it.. It's the taper that's doing the mechanical connection not the key and nut...🙂
Merry Christmas and happy new year! Everything is looking great! Nice score on that feathering prop! Im thinking about going that route as well. Tahitis need all the help they can get under sail.
I think the peal ply will help keep the resin from running and dripping, especially when you get to the more underside as you get to the stern, almost like vacuum infusion without the vacuum.
Hi, just finished binge watching your series. I would have loved to of seen the start of your build. This build has some timeless finishes due to matt's amazing skills and eye for detail, and you, my darling girl, are a joy to watch and your appreciation of the beauty of your dream being realised makes my day. Cheers
The white spots on the hull? It's hard to tell on video if they are air pockets in the fiberglass or fairing compound that has been sanded out. I'm hoping it's fairing.
Did you decide to not fix the resin-starved areas of your earlier laminate which was probably caused by laminating in the morning while the hull warmed and outgassed?
Takes me back, all that glass wetout. Notice how the first pour from the bucket seems to leave a noticeable "wet out " as it gets poured from height out of the bucket? But the rest of the layup takes ages to squeegee for the same level of wetout? I got excellent results using light warmth from a hair dryer or heat gun, which saved heaps of fiddling with the squeegee to get proper saturation.
@@Building_a_Boat_by_the_River great, thanks for the responce. We will start buidling our boat using the same construction methods in a few months. Your videos are very informative and helpful. Happy new year :)
I want a Tarkine shirt!!!! I imagine that I am not the only one, hint, hint, It is interesting seeing you use a window squeegee as a resin spreader. Economical gary in japn
Hahaha yeah! We just haven’t worked out how to make merch cheap enough and not have to order bulk that will sit around.. any hints welcome there and your dream may come true! Haah
It's just the two of us it's hard but we get by. That two people are alone together and can do so much ♥
Aw thanks!! ☺️

Yeah us too!! Algorithm doesn’t really like us but that’s ok! Getting by and our viewers are all really nice
It's all very entertaining and uplifting! Thank you!

Looks like a job for someone who hangs wallpaper for a living.
That would have been a very helpful skill to have for this project for sure!

I get that ‘look’ from my dog when I ask him to do something that he doesn’t like.
Yes the classic side eye! Almost as effective as the puppy eye 🐶

Thanks so much!! We'll have to get some earlier clips together for you one day!! 😊
Don’t remove the anti fouling paint. If anything, add another coat of anti fouling. Add a final coat of lanolin grease.
I'm sure they are not actually air pockets, but do you know what is causing it to look like there are air pockets?
A lot of the spots that you can see are just filler we used after the fairing, it does look odd though!
Nice !!!
Thanks!! ☺️
Such a beautiful graceful hull. I’m curious about the white splotches along the hull. Are these fairing compound under the applied glass?
Yes they are! Well spotted
What are you on about? it's a wonderful hat! 🥰
Hahaha yes it is!!
The white spots on the hull? It's hard to tell on video if they are air pockets in the fiberglass or fairing compound that has been sanded out. I'm hoping it's fairing.
Yes you're right they are fairing compound! Cheers
Did you decide to not fix the resin-starved areas of your earlier laminate which was probably caused by laminating in the morning while the hull warmed and outgassed?
Ah no we did fix them! We ground them back and did fibreglass patches, a little painful and sad but had to be done!
Jullie ook fijne feestdagen en een goed uiteinde
Dank je wel!! Alle goede wensen!
Looks like there is a lot of bubbles in the glass. I hope I am wrong. Other than that the boat looks beautyful
Yeah it’s fairing powder under the glass from fairing and filling, so no worries!
Cheers
I'm sure you explained, but what are the light spots on the hull?
Ah that’s filler from after we faired the hull.
Takes me back, all that glass wetout.

Good tip! It’s always a balancing act getting it right, but we’ll definitely try some extra warmth in the next layup!
Nice Fiberglass work. Are you using biaxial cloth?
Double bias 450g! Two layers, and then 160g twill
@@Building_a_Boat_by_the_River great, thanks for the responce. We will start buidling our boat using the same construction methods in a few months. Your videos are very informative and helpful. Happy new year :)
Happy Holidays from NY and Guyana also, enjoy looking at your channel, why a peel ply was used?
Ah we use the peelply to eliminate lots of sanding and to stop the blush, it just makes life a lot nicer when your doing a not so nice job! Hahah
I want a Tarkine shirt!!!!
