This is from a vlog I just posted called “I’m a beginner, do you have any tips?” Also normally the vocalist cues this horn line outro so that’s why I was caught off guard when she mouthed “solo”😂 Merch available at www.foolishfrankie.com 🙂
@@FoolishFrankie imo it adds character! Sometimes the sense of non-perfection is what really catches people. Great example of this is the singing style of Sia - or the common theme with artists where often the WIP pictures get more traction on social media than the final polished pieces.
It’s really cool to see how you started off a little stiff, not just in playing but in your body language/posture too, and seeing that all shift drastically the moment you realize the key
This happened to me at a gig in Derbyshire. The singer just went "And on keyboards.....". I busked it, and it went down well, but I said to the singer, "No more surprise solos please".
Watching a FF short...wait is that me? Haha. In the early days we'd throw random solos into songs to stretch things out a bit. That's one I always did with Anne and Julia, nothing like shredding over a simple ii-V-I in C major where all the black notes are the altered ones. And we just recently decided to bring it back a month or so ago. So you got to take my solo that night but with my changes lol and you caught it...13b9 one of my favs 😂
LOL dude what’s up!! Yeah it feels like there are less and less “open” sections added to tunes these days (which is fine if I’m worried the band could trainwreck lol) but this band obviously has no problem so it was fun. Looking forward to the next one we’re on!
It's inconceivable to me how good you are haha, I've been playing the saxophone for about a year and a half and although I already had a notion of music before, I don't even come close, how long have you been playing?
You are such a pro bro. If every note came out perfect just because we want them to, solos would be done by everyone. Overcoming the less than perfect (aka., bad) notes is what it's all about. Your confidence clearly grew throughout. Keep inspiring.
I don't really get why the captions suggest the performer has no idea what key the song is in, or its chord progression. What is he playing before coming in for a solo?!
My chart only has this horn line at the end and I was waiting for that to be cued. Admittedly if I don’t normally solo on a song I don’t listen to it from a “what would I do if I was soloing on this” standpoint. The captions are way delayed though. I figure everything out faster than you would be able to read it, usually in a second or two
@@FoolishFrankieI need to think a bit more analytically about what I’m doing at these weddings. Imma bone player, been playin em every sat for like 2-3 years now, and I just kinda started doing it without really learning the harmony of the songs. I had been gone thru music school as a music business major, played in big band and standards groups, but never really approached these songs that way. I very rarely think about the progression. Don’t have to think about the key usually, but then again I’ve played these songs a bunch of times. It would really improve my solos to be able to catch things like that b9 and recognize progressions more to apply ideas that I wouldn’t normally hear. Basically I think striking a good balance between “just playing” and analyzing the changes etc is key to a good solo

Play The Melody for your solo
That b9 catch was awesome. That typa stuff is why I love playing and listening to jazz.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
That b9 sound is so great to jam over! Great soundin' solo!
ok help what is the b9?
Hell yeah, killer stuff all the way through. Especially after that flat9 dominant chord
Thank you!!🙏🏻
ad libbing convincingly like that takes some serious skill and musical instincts, well done!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
I absolutely adore these solos!
Thank you for watching!
The start sounds like postman pat haha
LOL someone pointed that out on TikTok. I had no clue what that was until I looked it up. Wild coincidence that it was in my brain somehow
lmao that's exactly what I thought
@@FoolishFrankie Postman Pat, Postman Pat, Postman pat with his black and white cat!
Holy shit, you crushed that! Well done!
Thank you so much!!
your solos are soo goood wow
I play plenty of bad solos too don't worry😂🙏🏻
@@FoolishFrankie doubt lol
Postman Pat been real quiet since this dropped
Bro is delivering the mail
That little low "buh" before the first high C is so real
Had to go for it a second time!!
@FoolishFrankie i have to ask, what alto/tenor do you have? I use a Yamaha on both fronts and my schools baritones both are barely working

Oopmhf, got me right in the soul with that run. Sax is such a classy instrument
Well done!
Thank you!!
Damn, I love Sunday Morning and your solo added to it in a huge way. Sick work.
Thank you!!
The start of this is almost identical to the theme of Postman Pat, very nostalgic
Thank you for sharing these and breaking them down honestly. Gives me hope
Love how you share your honest thought process throughout, makes it so relatable and also more impressive
That means a lot! I'm glad it’s helpful🙏🏻
I love this!
thank you!!:)
Broooo phenomenal work
🙏🏻🙏🏻
yeah that was sexy.. fit perfectly
Hey you, SOLO!
-Epic solo-
Killed this shit bro 🔥🔥
🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'm a saxophonist too I have heard you quite a number of solos but this is the best I have heard you play so far! Good stuff bro!
That was freaking beeeauuuutiful! So well crafted. Bravo! ❤🌟❤🌟❤
Thank you so much!
that's passion
I will always be amazed and inspired by your talent. Wow.
❤️🙏🏻
Nailed it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ah the the postman pat solo
Wow excellent. World class musicians. I love it.
first time ever hearing you play, this sounded awesome
Glad you like it thanks so much🙏🏻
this was a really solid solo man. Really solid
Thank you🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice!! Well played.
Appreciate it!
So good man
I'm a big fan of your playing. Love watching your performances
Possibly the greatest boost of endorphines you can get without drugs
what the hell !!! that b9 was so spicy !!
“somehow i catch that” perfectly sums up gig musicians lol
It’s really cool to see how you started off a little stiff, not just in playing but in your body language/posture too, and seeing that all shift drastically the moment you realize the key
Damn that's beautiful.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Really great solo!
Damn Gus Fring in the back grooving on a bass is wild
Dude amazing!!!!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
2024 was your year, man!! You became so much more experienced
I don't know if this is just you improving or a lucky solo, but it was flawless dude, seriously.
Flawless is bold, but it felt honest and authentic when I was playing it. Thank you for the kind words🙏🏻
You 100% started with the theme from Postman Pat. 😂
Made it sing the whole time
Good stuff!
That first motif... Postman Pat, Postman Pat, Postman Pat and his black and white cat!!!!
Didn’t even know that existed until I posted this but what a wild coincidence!’
Awesome!!
🙏🏻
Dude, you smushed this
if you're not aware, the demo of sunday morning actually does have a sax solo, it's very cool! would recommend checking it out
Yeah yeah I used to have to break down my saxophone playing on r&b. 😊
Good solo👍
🙏🏻

Very good!! ^_^
thank you:)
I’m a pianist but you are an inspiration
🥹🙏🏻
Wooo!
Pianist here. I love throwing curveballs sometimes.
Literally had chills how you had fun with b9 on V😂
I KNEW IT WAS SUNDAY MORNING BY MAROON 5!

Me acting like I have any clue what he’s talking about: ah yes the B9 was a good catch
This is insane. I'm in my first year of a jazz degree and soloing is hard as it is when I know the form before hand
Just takes practice!
🔥🔥
Aced it!!!
was that pianist changing up the chord at the last second trying to kill you LMAO
HA!!
Hi, thats so great! I want to learn that to... do you have any tipps for me?
Watch the vlog that this clip is from titled “I’m a beginner. Do you have any tips?”
maxi feeling
Great job.
🙏🏻
homie that's postman pat
I’ve never seen that show or even heard of it until I posted this and people started commenting it😂 wild coincidence!
@@FoolishFrankie lmao great minds think alike, maybe you should consider a job composing for children's TV
Well done! As long as you have the chord progression, riff away!
Postman Pat wants his theme song back

I’m a saxophonist, I’ve played for 3 years now and I’m thinking to join Jazz honor band
You can do it!
I still dont speak progressions, but that shit killed

Lovely.
sunday morning is literally just a 2-5-1, you can do whatever you want like a substitution of triton or even a backdoor
Nice
thank you!!
ive no clue what key is or how to play a sax, i just enjoy your improv shorts you play great
Thanks, that means a lot🙏🏻
And you said you don't have perfect pitch. Perhaps not, but you are still an expert.
Yeahhh man
that’s crazy!!! do you have perfect pitch ?? because that’s awesome
I do not but thank you!
wow! that’s crazy impressive !!
And still - 'Call me Al' tin whistle nestles in it's holster.
LOL always stay ready😎
❤
🙏🏻
Awesome dude! Inspiring really : ) lemme go write another song
Man this makes me wish my ears were better. Guess i better start transcribing more
I’m a drummer, can you explain what in the hell happened with the B9 lol
It’s just an alteration added to the chord
And that's why the saxophone player gets the pretty girls
Funny notes
when you started to toe the line you were just way in the slot
that is whats up
YO thank you, huge compliment🙏🏻

What’s the name of this song? Those vocals at the end sound so familiar but I can’t make them out
Sunday morning mane
Sunday morning! Anne Eliza is singing: instagram.com/anneelizamusic
Anyone else hear the melody to Postman Pat near the start of the solo?
What a buet
What is a b9 chord
Befuddled again
Me all the time (idk what this means)
I heard that zelda theme lmao
