    You are a great duo!
I’ve had a friend with a podenco street mix, awesome dog.
Insanely fast at climbing steep terrain, when we were hiking, he ran circles around us, while we were struggling making it up the hill.
Also very kind to humans (less to other other dogs), cuddly and dramatic personality 😂
Also had a fair amount of stubbornness and free will.
Was going 110% into hunting mode when she smelled or saw game.
Now every regular dog seems slow and ponderous to me 😀
She never had a fight with other dogs, if she didn’t want to play or wanted her private space, she just ran away, no dog could catch her.
Wenn the dog in the Video launched for the ball and the gravel was flying away => that’s what I mean 🐕💨💨

My podenco is unfortunately afraid of other dogs so most hiking routes are unsuitable for him due to the amount of off-lead dogs, but what you said about him climbing is so interesting. There’s not a huge amount of information about the breed available but in doing some research I found that podencos are able to climb some trees. My podenco also loves playing fetch vertically, as in he prefers me to throw the balls up so he can jump and catch over throwing with distance to run, he jumps pretty high too despite having the shortest podenco legs (I believe he is a mix but there is a podenco variation that has more stubby legs and longer torso, slightly like a dachsund). They really must have some incredible strength in their back legs for them to climb, jump and hike with ease!
Also what you said about him not liking other dogs as much is spot on, it was something i found in my research also. Regardless to my own being anxious of other dogs because that is his own separate issue, podencos apparently just aren’t that fond of other dogs or living alongside other dogs. But they love to impress their human authority and see humans as their pack. I’m not sure where this comes from as different podenco variants are bred for different hunting tasks (sniffing out rabbit holes and pushing animals out to be cornered elsewhere, waiting and pouncing on larger animals,l for some examples) and these are usually performed as a team of different skill sets. I guess they just see them as coworkers though lol

Hi Natalie. Amazing work with Diego. Podencos like to train their owners in their ways and I would not have thought this was possible. I hope not too many owners new to Podencos area disappointed in their lack of interest in non hunting type games. 🤪

Great video. You and your beautiful dog must be very dedicated.
    That was quite impressive!
I have a Podenco too and know how stubborn they can be. Definitely inspiration for what may be achieved

Omg my podenco is also called Neo! He was named by the spanish rescue organisation that we bought him from. Never changed it because it suits him so well, but it’s cool there’s another podenco called Neo :)

He actually came to us with a lot of issues with other dogs and walking, which led to us needing to take proper training classes for reactive dogs. It was here we learnt about how important routine is for these dogs especially with food and this helps so much with motivation and attention span. Giving your dog his meal at a time that allows him to be hungry again when you start training means he will be more food motivated. We usually give him one evening meal, which lets him be hungry the following morning when he goes for his walk. But sometimes we would skip that meal to ensure he was quite hungry and very motivated for his next training session where he got either treats or just a meals worth of his kibble through earning it during training. I promise, alter his food routine slightly or use kibble to train when he normally would eat, and you will see massive changes in his attention span

So nice! How did you teach him all these things? I'd love to challenge my Andalusian podenco girl a bit, but don't know how to teach her these things.

I'd recommend joining a club or taking a beginners course! And also practicing focus outside in distracting environments :)
