CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977) - Modern Trailer

A fan made modern trailer for the Steven Spielberg sci-fi classic, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". I tried to avoid showing too much of the alien ships. The goal here was to emphasize the mystery of what's going on. To get across just how much the characters were risking and how far they're willing to go to get answers. And, of course, I had to end with that marquee shot.
MUSIC: I used the music from the trailer for another alien contact film, Denis Villeneueve's "Arrival" from 2016. I usually find the direction I want to go with a trailer based on the music and this piece felt like a no-brainer. I just laid the iconic "Close Encounters" five notes on top of it at the end.

WHAT AN AMAZING MOVIE!!!!!!!!! You had to see it in the theater to get the full effect. When the mother ship was having the conversation with us at the end, I was reacting just like Melinda Dillon......I was all giddy! Amazing!!!!!!

Love the movie, but from the point of view of Roy's wife and kids, it's about how Roy went crazy and was never heard from again. 🛸

I'd actually love to see a sequel only if it was done properly.
Flash forward 50 years, old Roy is brought back to Earth, he looks like he hasn't aged.
Roy and the ufo's occupiers have returned to prevent a nuclear catastrophe that would destroy the planet.
He reconnects with his now aged family and tries to bring them peace by telling them about all that he has experienced in his decades of travels.
