    I'm a Liverpool fan but to be fair to Tottenham they're the league's top scorers and they've let in 25 goals but Chelsea have let in 19 and Arsenal/Liverpool 16. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. They're 3rd in terms of Goal+/- only behind Liverpool & Arsenal.
    They remind me a lot of early Liverpool under Klopp actually, if in the Summer they can pick up a TOP quality GK and CB like we did at Liverpool with Alisson & VVD they'd reliably challenge for the Top 4.

    • @FitzroyGeorge-c4h
      @FitzroyGeorge-c4h 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      No they won't. Even if you have the best defenders, you still have to defend. And you can't defend properly that way

      4th best with +14. They have also only won 7 games and lost 8. The next team with more losses with 9 is Leicester in 17th and one place above the relegation zone.

    • @PaddyMcMe
      @PaddyMcMe 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

      @@FitzroyGeorge-c4h I mean as I said I'm a Liverpool fan, we used to win games by outscoring opponents 3-2, 4-3, 6-4 and then we got VVD & Alisson and immediately became a Top 5 team in all of Europe. It's 100% possible.

    • @PaddyMcMe
      @PaddyMcMe 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      @@infostudy101 Ahh yep sorry I was thinking of their ranking before the game yesterday. 4th best GD at +14 is still very good. And considering that Arsenal & Chelsea are +18 and people are talking about them challenging for the league title that should show you how insane the rhetoric around Tottenham is at the moment. They're every London team's favourite whipping boy and also at ESPNFC.
      Yep they've lost a lot of games but that's all people seem to be focusing on and are completely ignoring the underlying numbers which, again, are still very good and are a much more meaningful and reliable predictor of future form than focusing on them losing 8 and winning 7.
      Those good underlying numbers will be more accurately reflected in their w/d/l's as the sample size/season goes on.

    I somewhat admire Ange’s dedication to this idea of “playing my way” and the way he’s taken it on. BUT this has gone away from him making the best decisions for his players (he clearly isn’t, or they’d be consistent) and it’s clearly just his STUBBORNNESS that’s causing him not to change.
    he’ll see where that takes him 😂

    As a neutral, Spurs are incredibly entertaining to watch because it’s like watching a back and forth basketball match for 90 minutes. But if I were actually a Spurs fan I’d want Ange gone tomorrow. How he is setting up Spurs is downright idiotic and he’s literally coming out and stating he won’t change his playing style when it’s getting ripped to shreds. That’s when you know someone is no longer being rational and objective. And has become stubborn, obstinate, and defiant for the sake of trying to be proven right. Which more often than not is a disaster waiting to happen.

      Exactly right. If this was a workplace and you had a general manager that wanted to go down some speculative or questionable path. And even in the face of poor results, poor turnover, poor whatever they still expected everybody to follow them down this path, demanding absolute commitment and scorned any single person who dared criticise what they were doing. Absolutely refusing to accept any sort of advice or feedback whatsoever. Would that person keep their job?

      His players have also made comments that one should listen to as it adds more layers to the overall picture. I accept that his team are still evolving to play the kind of football AP wants. His injured goalkeeper Vicario in response to a question about defending corners and such, was that AP doesn't really care about corners or putting in 'defence' practice time.
      Kulusevski's post match interview (vs Liverpool) was very interesting and insightful. You can see he is an intelligent, pragmatic player who wants to win, and has no issue with how AP wants to play but he mentioned so.e frustration as there are moments in matches and/or playing teams where a little more strategy is required.

Explain to me the appropriate tactics to play with 10 first team players out and a back line consisting of Porro (Good going forward but can't defend), Radu Dragusin (3rd choice centre back), Archie Grey (an 18 year old CM, pushed into CB coz we have no one else), and Djed Spence. With Fraser Forster in goal. Tell me how we can adapt with those players? You can't expect us to park the bus with a back line that can't defend. Besides Ange has spent the last 18 months coaching a specific style. The players aren't just gonna know how to play a different way because we want them too. That has to be worked on extensively on the training pitch. So as we have established we can't defend well with our players as we dont have the right defenders. We are loose defensively when we attack. So tactical experts do you have anything else? Atleast Amge is aware of this and knows if we are loose defensively atleast try and score some goals in the process. Who knows you might win a game or two

    Yeah. It’s not like these guys are wrong. But it’s still not the point. Spurs will just keep dialing the SANE strategy and over time we will have two full squads. A first and a second team that is SKILLED in the way we play and the injuries won’t matter as much!! If he switches how we play to accommodate Grey and Spence then they won’t be dialed at the angle way of playing in 1-2 years time.

    When spurs fans hear this they get all defensive about and misread as if we are talking about dropping back and playing defensive. No. All they needed to do was drop the cb a notch, and have Bissouma or one of the FB not go too far to the opposition third so they can provide cover for the CBs when there is a counter attack. But they can never get this, nor can Ange. That is why Ange is just a motivator, not a manager or a coach.

    Tottenham Hotspur's prolonged trophy drought can be significantly attributed to the negativity surrounding its fanbase. Many supporters are quick to criticize players, management, and Daniel Levy, creating a toxic environment that hinders performance and deters potential signings. This impatience leads to frequent managerial changes, often dismissing great managers like José Mourinho, Antonio Conte, and now Ange Postecoglou after only 18 months or so, preventing the establishment of a consistent philosophy necessary for success.
    When results decline, protests against Levy emerge, demoralizing the squad and fostering division. While fans may rally behind the team during winning streaks, the atmosphere shifts to hostility during tough times, creating insecurity among players. Additionally, the negative media environment, fueled by vloggers and social media, amplifies grievances and perpetuates a cycle of despair.
    After the successes of renowned managers, it’s clear that the issue lies not with them but with the fans and the negativity surrounding the club. Until the fanbase can cultivate a more supportive and constructive atmosphere, Tottenham will struggle to attract top talent and build a sustainable path to success. Unity and positivity are essential for breaking free from this cycle of disappointment.

    As a spurs fan I’ve said this since his appointment. I understand Levy and the board said it’s the “spurs way” apparently to have attacking football and that’s fine as a fan you’d much rather see that, but I also would rather win trophies. Ange can’t expect to come into the hardest league, most competitive league, the most physical league with the best teams and players and play that way and expect to win. It’s very very naive to play that way and the dressing room isn’t full of imbeciles they can’t possibly think they’ll win the important games that way. Most importantly it’s not sustainable. Players can’t play like that for very long. Ange’s track record is he comes into implements his style season 1, pushes for a trophy season 2, and then it falls apart and team is riddled with injuries season 3 because it’s not sustainable. Levy has been a problem since he came in he’s a business man he doesn’t care about winning or building a winning squad to stop complaining about him. The way ange is playing is naive and loses to bottom of the table teams. I don’t want ange out but if he’s this stubborn and naive come February or march he needs to be moved on

    Is it funny how these pundits have no management experience? They are down 10 first teamers and have to be playing people out of position. But here’s the thing, if you park the bus and lose 3-0, what do you get out of it? What development do the young players get? Instead you get the youngsters to play the way they need to play and they develop for the long term. How many teams have scored more than 2 goals against Liverpool? Two. Spurs and Newcastle. The kids are developing.

      @@nathancooper1 I agree. I'm getting so tired of this Ange needs to adapt his tactics argument. To an extent i get it but Ange is trying to shift a mentality away from just being safe to going out and going for it. He is doing it deliberately to change the mentality of the team to a winning one. I feel like if Ange just puts 10 men behind the ball in games it's just teaching the players that it's okay to be safe. Ange wants his players fighting for everything and approaching every game with the mindset and belief that you can win and not just a team that is hard to beat if that makes sense. Also the growth the players will get from these situations is also why he is continuing to play this way. Seems like the media and some of our fans are so consumed in win now, results this, and trophies that and have lost sight of the bigger picture in what Ange is trying to build.
